IN the bitterly cold and rain a couple of weeks ago I ventured out and get drenched on the plaza on collins st. I should have stayed in for room service

Apologies for the slow reply Sassy - other real life issues keping me occupied.

Yes - I agree. If you wait for the right weather - never going to do anything. Can always escape from Degraves to the library coffee shop in Flinders Lane if it gets too much.

robed ..damn //a bit of luxury sounds nice lol, same here ..havent been on for ages, as to suggestions ..flinders lane is vibrant and alive but I usually prefer smith st collingwood, station st fairfield or lygon st carlton for the bestest(lol) coffee specially for a good italian expresso, but anytime you want a companion ..im always up to meeting new people for an expresso crema....lol

And Robed - if you want cakes that go with coffee - not to far from town - Acland street St Kilda.

warm inside in reservoir.. though went to the firestation cafe in preston for lunch today and sat in the sun in the courtyard ..rather pleasant, would have been better with like minded company but never mind "kushiels scion" kept me company.

The bset coffee I've found in Melbourne is '7 grams' on Church Street in Richmond. Try it - I challenge anyone to find better!

Oh, a guy from Melbourne (obviously) here btw - long time reader, on and off poster - always on the lookout for fellow Melbournites (especially of the sexy female variety )
