Hi, I'm a newbie to. I get no respect.

Was it hard for you way back 11,000+ posts ago to warm up to others? What if you did make another name(who knows, maybe you already have) and no one knew, how hard would it be to be a newbie again? Because everyone treats you different.

Nope. I had a really warm welcome and it didn't take long at all for me to find my niche. I only have the one ID. Why is it hard being a newbie?

As long as you're willing to wade through the posts it requires to build a consistent rep for yourself, you'll get along fine.

I know that some 'newbies' post threads like these then quickly drop off the face of the planet. I have seen it done many times in the past. I intend to stay here a while and try to make some new friends.

Just think about it, do YOU personally respect newbies as much as you would anyone? Granted respect is earned and not given, but hard for a newbie to earn it if you don't give them a chance.

Dont you see you really are not ignored they read what you say and they slowly build up a profile of who you are. You dont just BAM one day become close friends with someone it takes time. It can be harder online.

Well, now you've gotten the attention you were craving. The only problem is that it's negative attention. Because of the topic of the thread, people are going to assume that you're whiney (ignore Sunstruck's spelling, we all do.).

Now, that may or may not be the case, but the truth is that's how it be. <---intentional grammatical error for the fun of it.

The plain truth is that it just simply takes a while for people to get used to seeing you. Nobody's ignoring you out of some malicious plot against newbs.

Lemme put it another way...

Say you and your friends are hanging out at a coffee shop chatting about the latest gossip or cars or politics or whatever y'all talk about.

This person you've never seen before comes up and sits down at the table and listens for a bit. Then says to them out of the blue, "How come you're ignoring me!! You don't respect complete strangers! How can a stranger join in the fun y'all are having if you don't give them a chance!"
