Finished my second mug of coffee, so it's now time to think about possibly attempting to do something productive today.57 this morning 85 for a high. The last day of sunshine as the clouds move in for a weeks stay or so they say.
Fresh coffee all around.
Some friends from here left Saturday for a point south of Ft Myers with a large front-end loader and a track hoe. They also have a self contained, solar powered trailer headed that way to live in. This is what those guys do. They basically retire between storms.
This was in the San Juan Islands in Washington state. Orcas island to be specific.
Eh. San Juan and Washington State is a bit counter-intuitive I suppose. Orcas Island on the other hand seems appropriate (I went Orca sightseeing in that area).
Ohhh, I have read that book. It has been a while though.I assume you've read Snow Falling On Cedars, an excellent novel set in that area?
...
It's almost time this morning to make a few phone calls to Ft Myers, Florida friends asking if we are still welcome to visit in another week or two.

Sorry to hear that about your friends.2 years ago, friends of ours left here (mid-Atlantic) to live on Sanibel Island.
I just heard from them. Ian destroyed their home was completely!
They've already decided to move back up to the Mid-Atlantic. They have almost nothing left to pack so they rented a car, rented a house online, and are driving up here next weekend, and they don't plan to go back - ever.
A group of us are collecting basic household goods for them, so they'll be able to settle in as quickly as possible.
You don't call it the Middle East?2 years ago, friends of ours left here (mid-Atlantic) to live on Sanibel Island.

I monitored the SARNet during the storm, it sounded horrific. There's talk that Sanibel will be uninhabitable for years to come, I'm so glad they got away safely!2 years ago, friends of ours left here (mid-Atlantic) to live on Sanibel Island.

Nope. Our Middle East would be farther west. Western Tennessee or Easter Arkansas. You don't call it the Middle East?
I am sorry to hear of this. My condolences to your wife, and to all those whose lives he had touched. The husband of my wife's oldest friend died this morning. He had been ill for some time but it was still a shock.
That's about 5,000 miles from hereYou don't call it the Middle East?
It's an oblique reference to something that is already rather obscure, but which is forever lodged in my mind. That's about 5,000 miles from here
Can't do that - just sniff. Must have...It's too late for me to be drinking coffee, but I'll take in the aroma as I lay in bed reading
