The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Another frigging cold day here. It's 19 out there right now.

CK: should I be worried about who is sending me such a gift?

I just finished my penultimate class this semester, maybe my penultimate in person class ever. Tomorrow afternoon is the last one this semester.

I was making good progress on my Pink Orchid novel yesterday. Just trying to figure out which of my FMC gets POV for the last chapter.

Everyone send me good vibes. They just drew the labs that will decide if I get to go home today.

And oh my GOD do I want to go home. The staff is doing their best but being in the hospital sucks.
Glad you got to go home, still sending you good vibes about getting healthier and staying out of the hospital.

Your last class has to be about the Big O, which you are free to interpret as an erotica writer or as an algorithm analyst (or both).
Bah, this reminds me of one of my longstanding plot bunnies.

A female particle physicist discovers that the early 20th-century pseudoscientific concept of orgone is actually real, it just wasn’t measured reliably because human body at rest doesn’t emit enough orgone energy to be detectable without CERN-level of equipment.

In an attempt to study the phenomenon, she ends up determining that there is, in fact, a way to increase the orgone power output by many orders of magnitude…

Working title: Big O Energy.

heck, that's no plot bunny that's an entire colony of bunnies.

I actually have a partially written story about a female particle physicist who discovers a new category of particle that carries emotions (including lust).

I was trying to not make it silly. I called them psions. (I had to go back to look. I effectively abandoned the story months ago, less than 1K in. It wanted to become silly.)
Reading the written part now, it's not going off the tracks nearly as much as I remembered it. This goes into the stack to be resurrected when I need a break from my novels. Maybe it can turn into an April fools event entry. She now has a way to record the psion field and play them back to people. Lots of good 4/1 opportunities there.

I wrote Watch Me! based on a dream in which an old ballet mistress taught her students that there are subatomic particles called meons that are excited by perfection. She believed that when a dancer approached perfection the vibration of the meons would cause them to transcend to another plane of existence.

So I wrote that story, but left out the pseudo-physical explanation. Some comments suggest that maybe I should have left the explanation in.

I read this as "You didn't mostly hang with the theater kids doing most of the science faculty majors?" and figured I resembled the comment...

The original works, as well.
Long, intense hours of practice, people changing wherever backstage, the euphoria of performing for hundreds of people, then partying with your co-stars and audience... Maybe both versions of that statement can be true at once 😉
