The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good morning 😴

My English Cocker Spaniel woke me up the sweet way that Cockers are known for. He got up on the bed (Mrs D has a staircase for the smaller dogs) and curled up between us. About 6:00 AM he got tangled in my CPAP hose and yanked the CPAP off the headboard and it clonked him on the head and he sat there crying in my ear.

Anybody want a used dog?

Children. Sky woke us up with a sharp "BARK!" three times last night because he changed beds and lost his blankie en route. A dog that needs tucking in? Really?

"Yes, Daddy, time to turn on the heat."

I solved a programming problem, made pancakes for my wife's birthday, closed down the fountain, dug out all the gladiolas, took a trip to the grocery story, picked and processed the last of the green chiles, and now I'm tired. I'm cooking dinner tonight, and I need to get that started pretty soon.

Maybe a little nap first . . .

Uh... I went to the grocery store.

😁

Another cool sunny morning greeting me this morning. No moose, mouse, or mousse here, but the rabbits are gamboling in the back yard. It looks like the deer visited my bird feeder overnight so I'll have to put it back together.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are donuts and muffins (sorry, no snickerdoodles) on the counter. The few plot bunnies underfoot look a little peaked so they probably need to be fed soon.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story and thinking about how to incorporate a moose Muse into my next story ...

I have a bunch of writing files that are just a few words or maybe a line, brief shots of inspiration. A warren of plot bunnies.

A song I've been listening to today woke the muses and they've latched onto one of those scenarios pretty tightly. Been turning that idea around in my mind, thinking of different ways it can go--branching paths with different results. I spent an hour researching locations and etiquette and, yes, watching a few videos for inspiration.

Now, words are going onto the page.

"I thought my muse blew a fuse. It was a ruse," he accused.

Finished a 15K LW story last night, another 15K-er for the Barstow series was done earlier in the week. There has been an 11K Barstow chapter standing by for upload since its second part is waiting for a reasonable ending; what's there at the moment is going to be excised and replaced with something a little more rational (as if any of it is!).

The two-parter is holding up the works. There are are references to events in the subsequent tale, so sequence is somewhat set in stone. LW is unrelated; it's going to get two or three re-reads today for refinement and proofing before pulling the trigger.

Just realized something a couple of minutes ago working on the two-parter. I introduced a new character, a petite, effusive redhead. Unintentionally used the same trope in the LW tome. Muse must be hanging with a girlfriend of 25 years ago.

Mary, @theWollstonecraftWoman, is in London and now that the Bronco's pulled out the win, they going to Paris and then Rome. No idea when she'll bless us with an appearance or a new story. I'm stimmed in my new story not sure what's wrong with it but certain something is. I've sent to my editor/publisher to see if he can figure out what isn't right. I may miss the contest on the other site I started it for and this one if he can't shed a little light on what I've done wrong.
