The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Another sunny cool morning with a high in the mid 60s today. Fall is definitely here. Highs into the mid 70s at most in the next two week's forecast, but not a lot of rain.

There's a fresh pot of joe/java brewing and the teapot is hot. There are various pastries on the counter and some chopped carrots for the plot bunnies running around underfoot.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story while simultaneously thinking about the next story I plan to write. My Muse is starting to get upset with me and looks like she wants to yell at me so ignore the loud voices if you can ...

The weather service's predicted rain fizzled--not that it didn't happen, but the amounts weren't measurable. But Wait! Now they're predicting even more! In the mean time, the days are beautiful, school's out for Balloon Fiesta/Fall Break, and there's never a better time to get outside.

I lost hours yesterday working on the suite of programs I wrote to generate and present Sudoku puzzles. I was in a zone when I wrote some of that stuff, so a little more documentation is needed. On the up side, I can now snapshot the puzzle board so I can share puzzles, and the difficulty levels are more in line with my current thinking.

I still need to add notes to the snapshots to show intermediate solution steps, and I want to add an option to auto-solve and/or show the techniques needed to solve.

The broccolini is starting to bear, and I'll start picking my fall cucumbers before the weekend. The tomatoes are still coming in, but production from the chiles and jalapenos is at a crawl.

I wrote the first sex scene in my holiday story, and the rest of the story is coming into focus. I think I'll write the second sex scene next then write the story around the sex.

It was 36 when I got up this morning and might hit 50 today. I grew up south of the mason-dixon line; this weather is for the birds. Actually I don't think they like it either.

My only writing I got done yesterday feedback to other writers. I don't like the ending that my WIP is heading to, so I am setting it aside for a few days while I start some other pieces. And even if this is break week, I need to get some work done for my classes today or tomorrow.

There are still some calendar slots open, I think, if you want to pitch an "Erotic Technical Documentation" Event or Contest.

My daughter sent this photo looking northeast from her downtown office.

A few minutes later I got this over our house, about two miles southwest of her office.

The upper balloon over the house could be the same that my daughter saw, but its from a commercial flying services called Rainbow Ryders, and three went past the house. This was the closest.

Edit: Should have looked closer. They aren't the same balloon.

A user on Bluesky (foreverlouiseb1) has been posting high-quality images of actresses from the 1920s and 1930s, including photos of Louise Brooks. I'm not much into movies in general, but the 1920s fascinate me.

Here's this:

She's gorgeous, and how fabulous is that thing she's wearing? I imagine it as gold or silver satin

I don't know if the forum here links to Vimeo, but I'll try it. This video is a time-lapse view from our art studio several years ago during our annual balloon event, consisting of 40-60 each year:

Every year about a dozen balloons muster and take off from the school yard behind our house.
That was wild! And you caught a train also - Bonus!

I find this tidbit interesting because it is almost exactly the reverse of my own process. I've literally gone as far as writing a note on a manuscript that says "Insert sex scene here" to keep moving with setting, banter and emotions. I guess I've done enough of them that I feel like I can bang out the sex even if I'm not feeling particularly "inspired", so I'm willing to set it aside and move forward.

I usually write the sex scenes in sequence. "Banging out" another sex scene was producing some fairly uninspired results, so I decided to experiment. Writing it first, it probably came out twice as long as it normally would. No doubt I'll edit it before the rest of the story is done.

I have definitely done this as well.

I do the same thing. Sometimes a sex scene, no matter how hot, can stifle the creative process. I'll leave a blank page with the word Juvat at the top. As I start to wrap up the process I search for "Juvat."
