The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

No. Not when you're loading/unloading percussion out of the back of a truck. One misstep... 😨

(Honestly? The second-heaviest bit after the chimes is my tuba in its case. Hefty!)

"Good concert" works. First of the season. We're well-rehearsed, so expectations are high. Trying new approaches to promotion this time around, so hoping for a decent crowd.

Mind if I ask how the concert went?

Of course I mind. 😜 (Thank you for asking!)

Went quite well, well enough to look forward to hearing the recordings rather than cringing at every clam. My personal stake - a very exposed oboe solo - came off without a hitch and even dominated the room a little bit. That made me happy!

Didn't get the crowd we hoped for, though. We're still working on getting the word out to where it matters most. The media opportunities in the local area have been shifting, and much of the music and cultural scene publicity has been bogarted by a winery and their investments in our downtown. I did notice that this audience was more engaged than usual, with most sitting in the front center of the auditorium instead of scattered. I'll take that as "a win."

To my surprise, I discovered that my seat mate in the tuba section has a considerable background in successful concert publicity. He had advantages with things like a budget for mailers and such, but nonetheless had very useful suggestions for things we should try.

So far I have the only story tagged as woodchipper on Literotica and I am looking for company - we need a new genre here. Woodchipper stories......
Something stirred in me when I gazed upon his 7.3 inch capacity, Power Reverse, Self-Feeding BigBear. He asked if I wanted Antivibration and I gave him a breathy, pouty, "definitely not."

Realistic? Or is it tough to get the 7.3 inch capacity with self-feeding? I don't want to get called out in the comments of my Loving Wives story, so I want to get the details right.

His only previous publications have been in academia -- I was actually on his thesis committee for his doctorate. He is how I ended teaching where I do now.

He apparently has been working on his first novel for several years. He is planning on coming back to it when he retires in December.

In an awkward moment, I did admit where I have been posting my writing. He was equally awkward in admitting he knew the site.

Found a thing of creamer we lost last month. Downside is it was liquid creamer so it went straight into the trash. But now I know, check behind the shelves after putting up the groceries.

Reminds me of a time my girlfriend came over to the house to help my wife with chores while I was off at a conference. C tells me they were cleaning out the fridge, and L picked up a carton of eggs with a "Best by..." date roughly a month away. "These are good," she declared. Handing it to C, C looked closer. Yeah, it was a month away... of the prior year.

Oddly, the film Fargo has little to do with the city of Fargo. It's only the place where Jerry Lundegaard meets with the Kidnappers to give them a car and a deadline.
Wow! You must be related to Clare Voyant or whatever her name is. The story will end in Minnesota not far from Fargo. Not in a woodchipper but in a Vietnamese Restaurant.

Yes, but the outskirts of EAST Fargo (which is in Minnesota) is where Americans hear for the first time, those immortal words:
"Uff-da! You betcha."

I looked up the official location of the movie Fargo and this is what Bing gave me:

The movie Fargo primarily takes place in rural North Dakota and features the fictional town of Bemidji, Minnesota. While the film's title suggests a connection to Fargo, most of the action occurs in Bemidji and Duluth, Minnesota.

First of all - ALL of North Dakota is rural (Trust me, I lived there for 20 years) and you all know the Fictional town of Bemidji, it's a couple hundred miles north of the fictional villages Minneapolis and St. Paul and centered between the imaginary towns of Duluth and Grand Forks.

My story will end in Grant Valley Minnesota, which truly is fictional, 20 miles south of the real live Bemidji.
