The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Have to brag a little... we have Chamber of Commerce weather all week! Deep blue cloudless skies, highs in the upper 70s, starry, cool nights, low humidity... just lovely. Even the weather folks are commenting, "This is so unlike late August weather here!"

Problem, tho' - no rain in the 10-day forecast, nor in the previous 10. After a soaked, way-above-average wet spring and early summer, everything is turning brown. My lawns are simply going to have to suffer. The last time I tried to "save" them in the dry like this, the water bill was totally OMG!

But I'll take the California-grade weather as long as it lasts.
We got all your rain, sorry not sorry.

I put the fall cucumbers in the ground this morning. The broccolini I transplanted a couple days ago look good. The last cantaloupe I'm sure I'll get is almost ripe. There are at least nine more fruit on the vines. They're growing fast, but they may never ripen. Tomatoes and jalapenos are coming in daily.

The WIP progresses a paragraph or two at a time.

That chill when you realise half a chapter has disappeared. Then 20 minutes searching Time Machine, external drives and finally, finally... the Trash you haven't emptied for three months and now you remember why.
I blame fat-finger typing on an iPad.
OTOH the newly edited older section is even better. 😅😗
I've recently lost a years worth of sent emails from work. Nothing super important - they're archived, just the "I'll keep that because I know someone will ask me about it" type things. Not in the bin, or the bins bin. Not dragged to a separate folder. Just... Gone.

IT say it's impossible, but then I point to Sharepoint randomly deleting directories a year ago and they shut up.

Coffee is the only thing saving my sanity.

You had knee surgery, right? Was it knee replacement? That is what my surgical consult in two weeks is for. Any tips or thoughts? Feel free to PM me about it if you have any; most of the customers here don't need to hear medical tales while sipping their coffee or tea.

I'm glad the pain is subsiding.
I had the left knee replaced back in 2017. The main thing is PT, both before and after surgery. Mine hasn't given me any trouble. Now though, the right knee is bad. I'll need it replaced soon. I had gel injections in both of them with some success. The shot wasn't painful and helped within a day or two. This past April I had the right hip done. The surgeon already said to plan on replacing the left one in the future.

It's going to be a beautiful day today. Perfect for going to the cemetery and putting flowers on graves. The aches have diminished quite a bit as my body adjusts to not having the Meloxicam to lean on.

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are danish, cupcakes, and cookies on the counter. Help yourself.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story before I have to go. Stop by and say 'Hi!' if you want. I promise I won't bite (unless you want me to).

Wow. Do you get eight new favorites every two hours?
The story was just published today, so I'm guessing Americans have just woken up and added it to their Read Later lists. (Remember that "added to Favorites" is, confusingly, also covering lists). Hence the burst.

Currently, the sequel has only 5 actual favorites, while the original has 53 (it was my Nude Day entry, as one might have guessed).

DrunkenBushBaby really likes your story.
