Just got back from a foliage drive with my SO and our son's partner. The drought actually made it a disappointing year. It seems the trees dropped their leaves almost as soon as they drained the chlorophyl. Still a beautiful drive and a pleasant day. They only threatened to kick me out of the car for bad puns four or five times. Sometimes I was on my own, sometimes my son's partner would join in punishing my SO.

Well, I decided to write my first ever outline today. 712 words in and I'm not done. Hmm, either this is going to be longer than I thought, or my outline is more detailed than I think. Oh well, I'll work on it more tomorrow. Then maybe I'll be motivated to work on this chapter I've left half finished for a month.

Yeah, know that feeling. I have a draft page that isn't an outline but is filled with notes for a story so I don't forget. And it's loooooooooooong.

I try to delete parts when I write it but haven't kept up on it, and it's haphazard. Like. *oh in ch. 5 I wanna do such and such* and immediately after *in ch. 1 I gotta do this and that*. Nothing in order

Outline? What's an outline? I'm a pantser with a cause, I guess.

This evening, for instance. A plot bunny hitchhiked on the way home from a concert, and here I am, five hours and 3000 words later, taking a break to brag here and then do "tomorrow's" Wordle. Got a decent streak going, anticipating that word, whatever it is, that's going to topple my house of cards.

Whoops! Midnight! Wordle time!

Just finished a piece that I found a lot more difficult then I had thought it would. The basic concept of it is two newbs exploring BDSM fantasies with each other and I feel it's a bit wordy. Lots of randome thoughts injected into my lead characters head at random times. Ended up being slightly more than 20K words. I thought about slicing it into two parts but I think I'm going to just leave it as is and take the lumps. A large part of the motivation for it was my desire to get something posted in every genre here at Lit. Even thought I struggled with it, I did finish it, finally, and that's a victory. I suspect that's the most stretching of my imagination I'll really have to do until I get down to the "gay male" category.

We set a daily high record by three degrees yesterday. And tied the all-time record for any day in October. Still warm today, but not as warm. Tomorrow night the cold front comes through and the highs drop by almost 30 degrees. Closer to normal for this time of year. And the front is bringing some much needed rain.

I managed to get a good chunk of writing on my WIP yesterday. If I can keep this up for a few more days, I will finish this draft on Wednesday. Then the great experiment. Can I actually set this aside and write a draft for a completely different story. This one ia a monster fighting old-fashioned sci-fi, with a dash of political intrigue and a romance underneath. The next one is a mentor to lover to best friend story about the evolving relationship between two women. Both around 60K.

Cloudy this morning with some light showers. So the weatherman was right about the possibility of rain but the temperature drop isn't expected until Wednesday now.

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are muffins and Monkey bread on the counter. I hope to do some cooking today. I'll check out that recipe and see if it is something I can do ...

I'll be over in the corner working on my story. I nailed down the ending yesterday so I'm filling in the missing bits now. I'm really stoked now about the story and will be finishing it up soon so I can get the next story going. The only planning I did for this story was "1. Something happens 2. Add some sexy bits 3. It gets resolved."
