The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good morning (or afternoon or night, depending upon your time zone).

Finished my coffee along with my troll poking story "A Gathering of Trolls" for Loving Wives, and clicked on "Publish". Now it's just days before the 1-bombs start dropping.

Thanks, Millie, for the title, idea, and support! We'll see if this sets a record for the number of 1's it gets. I'll probably earn a 1 magnet prize for all my other stories.

You're a far braver writer than I!

Me too - I might have done it under a new ID.

Garg. Back in my own bed after weeks on the other side of the planet, Nice scenery, but coming home took three straight days of surly drones growling at me to take off my belt and eyeglasses before passing through the fourth checkpoint in 300 metres. Remind me why travel is spooked to be relaxing? Jetlag should be barred by law.

Welcome home

I wondered where you were. Welcome back!

Welcome back TP. I was about to put your face a a milk jug. Uh, I think it was your face.

I was late for lunch. A boat sale came first. Now I'll make fresh coffee and chew on a pair of nuked chili dogs.

The first duck hunting boat of the year.

It's fairly quiet round here.
A mug of Tea and a seat in the dark would be nice.

I'm having a herbal tea with mint, liquorice and cinnamon as primary ingredients, and some added lemon and honey. In the dark.

Since we have another three hours of daylight at least, I'll sip my coffee and contemplate whatever crosses my mind as long as it's not a big truck.

Skittles is also the name of a new round of Fentonal pills to get younger people hooked on the drug.

The evening coffee is ready.

Evening coffee? We just came back from a taphouse. Time for a night cap. Then I'll check to see if my poker is ready in the morning.

Thanks for the brew. Eyesight's nearly back to normal, thankfully. Now I'd better get back to doing something that looks like work.

I just had some dinner ... and am thinking of writing a little again. And will take a late evening coffee... :)

Russ, If you don't have something like this

maybe you should consider purchasing this or something similar.

I also had to visit the opthamologist today; my age related macular degeneratio has changed from the "dry' version I was diagnosed wth last year to (at least in the right eye) the 'wet' version, i.e. I got a shot in my right eyeball today; gonna have that every 28 days for at least the next year. Since our health insurance is different that a lot of the rest of the world, I will tell you I walked out after paying $35.00 (US) for today's visit.

I wrote 17K words into my current story without having my grammar crutch working in the word processor. I got it working today, and I was pleased that it found only a few problems in the whole mess. I think that means the grammar tool has me trained to do things its way. Other tools might scan my writing and break up in digital giggles.

I dug up an old pair of bi-focals I used 3 or 4 prescription changes ago and they work great for reading, the lower quadrant that was for reading is useless now. In a few more months I get to go to the VA and get a new pair of glasses with the wrong prescription for free.

Just submitted We're a Wonderful Wife Ch. 08, Ch. 09 is in the on-deck circle, and since I changed direction with the climax, chapters 10, 11, and 12 have cycled through the shredder. So much for the plan to complete the story before January.

If I had to ditch three chapters, I think I would give up…I mean like literally!

Thanks. Not a bad idea. I've never had a bacon bomb go off from this butcher before, so it caught me by surprise.

Department Of Not Having Paid Enough Attention Before And Maybe Not Now Either: I think posting times of messages in these fora had previously been shown in Universal/Greenwich/Whatever time zone. Now, they seem to be time-stamped in the time zone where I live. Am I hallucinating? Was I before? About this particular thing, I mean. I'm not inclined to share my other hallucinations with you folks. Is anyone else seeing posting times in your specific time zone? Was it that way before?

Ahh, it depends on which version of the page is served to you. The version I'm currently looking at which has my profile link, "Conversations" and "Alerts" in the top right is set to my time zone. The other version, which is mostly pale blue and white, and missing a heap of functionality, is in some other time zone.

I'm just annoyed that I'm randomly getting two versions of the same site.

Ah yes, time zones. Most everything in the forums in on my local times. The rest of the site, I really haven't been paying much attention.

Speaking of which, the midnight coffee is and hour late by my reckoning.

What annoys me just a little bit with the time zone selection on this site is that there doesn't seem to be an option to have no daylight savings adjustment. This means that I either have to select the wrong time zone for summer or live with the fact that it'll get my local time wrong (no daylight saving here, it would be pretty useless).
