The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good morning all, fresh coffee brewing, fresh pot of tea is steeping

I've got my work cut out for me, after a year of gently prodding and tweaking I have come to the realization that I hate the ending to a story that I wrote over a year ago for this years Winter Holiday

Troll Poker. Is that like a fireplace poker for beating them to death or something like an alien probe or a card game with idiots wild? Inquiring minds and all that.

The midnight coffee is hot and fresh. I had to slap mine twice to make it stay in the cup.
The fireplace poker idea.

Finished my first run through the story last night, and my first mug of coffee this morning. Now that I'm awake, I have to revise half the characters in my troll story. (I have the incels, but I need some BTB-types.)

Good morning all. Thank you for the coffee. I'll likely start writing and hope to finish up my latest story today. (With edits tomorrow or the day after.)

Good morning all. The body is here but the mind is a little fuzzy so more coffee please.

Cinnamon rolls for breakfast. There are extra so help yourself.

Speaking of winter stories, I have eight started and none finished. I need to do something about that.

This afternoon my grandson took part in a junior anglers beach fishing competition. There were 19 of them fishing for five hours.

The catch? One undersize and illegal fish which couldn't be counted and had to be thrown back, and two small crabs, which also didn't count.

There were no winners.

Sad, that.
I remember fishing off the end of the Pier for most of the day
and catching nought !

We're in for some unpleasant Weather this week, by all accounts.
I think I'll stock up on the coffee.

Ogg, the kids now know why it is called fishing and not catching. ;)

Fresh coffee is now available for the evening group.

Leftover ribs for supper.

We had a family dinner at a Japanese restaurant to celebrate the birthdays of my wife and our oldest. The food was good. The setting and the customers were a little odd.

Gawd, my eyes are rolling back in my head. Unfortunately it's not from writing or editing fun stories. I've spent most of the afternoon and evening trying to find dates on those friggin' receipt slips from every store under the sun we've shopped at, looking for slips that might prove purchase of something that may or may not be under warranty. Found two important ones so far, so that's good.

Why? Decluttering the house, that's why. The puppy has us on a tear trying to secure papers and other items from his curious mouth. He's actually proving to be a very good dog, but he is, after all, still a puppy and prone to finding things we've overlooked in places we've forgotten about. On the plus side, we're stumbling across a lot of paperwork that should have seen the shredder 10 years ago. So if you suddenly feel the earth shift on its axis, it's going to be because we found a treasure trove of old papers that is being ground and summarily removed to the dustbin.

Eye doctor "Bacon fat? Hmm. A good dishwashing liquid will get rid of that."
Me "..."
ED "Seriously, there's a bit of a mark but it'll heal quickly. Use these drops, but you don't need to look like Patchy the Pirate."

Time and place, Doc, time and place...

MrP, the miracles of puppy hood never cease to amaze me.

I'm glad you are alright Rusty. Dish washing soap to the eye seems, uh, as painful as the grease burn.

Patches are highly overrated.

Dishwashing detergent? Really?! The correct answer is baby shampoo. It's a pH-neutral detergent formulated to be okay in the eyes. C's eye doctor recommended baby shampoo for her recurring eye allergies, and she has no problems using it regularly.

Baby shampoo, okay I could go with that.

The midnight coffee is ready for consumption.

I think the Doc was trying to be funny. I didn't see it...

Definitely time for another coffee and some peanut biscuits courtesy of our neighbour.

The funny thing is baby shampoo is a great grease-cutter. A big car club I used to hang with recommended baby shampoo as the best detergent for hand-washing. I still use it on those rare occasions I hand wash. It cuts the road grime and does a credible job with tar specks on rocker panels.

I used it as a shampoo for many years, only to eventually figure out it was the cause of my wispy fly-away hair. It was too good as a detergent - stripped the oils right out of my hair.

Back in the 1950s, I went on a school trip to the edge of the Norfolk Broads. There wasn't much to do except go on walks which at the time I couldn't do, having been knocked off my bicycle the previous week by an elderly motorist.

So I bought a fishing license (cost £0.7.6 or 37.5 new pence now), a basic rod and line, and sat by a creek for a fortnight. I caught one undersized eel, while the locals beside me were hauling out fish at the rate of a large fish every hour.

It's incredible! I had a friend in Germany whose Opel Rekord went through 3 engines in two years and being the main mode of transportation for a small group of GIs the gang would pitch in and help. The first time his wife showed up with the shampoo I was amazed, and I had been a car mechanic and an aircraft mechanic for almost a decade by that point and had tried dozens of different products. It even beats Dawn dish soap which is used to de-grease seabirds after an oil spill.

Morning coffee is on! :coffee:

Busy day here at the dog house, a fellow is coming by to repair the hot tub and the rebuild of my Winter Holiday story is turning out so much better than my original idea. And luckily the story change doesn't affect the on-going back story either! (two more chapters to go) It's still going under erotic horror. My first delve into non-fiction has started, needs to be ready for veterans day, and my first ever poem is still pending after 18 days

BB, so you're Moaning on a Moanday.

Good coffee this morning. It looks like the short dog has figured out my handwriting on the coffee recipe.

Biscuits, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast.

I wasn’t gonna stop this morning, but a little morning fog (in more ways than one…) has me in the mood for some eggs, bacon, and a strong cup of dark…

Good morning (or afternoon or night, depending upon your time zone).

Finished my coffee along with my troll poking story "A Gathering of Trolls" for Loving Wives, and clicked on "Publish". Now it's just days before the 1-bombs start dropping.

Thanks, Millie, for the title, idea, and support! We'll see if this sets a record for the number of 1's it gets. I'll probably earn a 1 magnet prize for all my other stories.

You're a far braver writer than I!
