I bought a tablet, never used, in a sealed box from a charity shop on eBay.

My son-in-law and eldest daughter have just spent two hours trying to get it to connect to the internet and download stuff. It won't.

Their conclusion: It's far too old and has insufficient memory - 512 Mb.

I bought it to see if I can work a tablet, but this one is too old to be of any use.

It can't have an updated operating system. It couldn't cope.

So back it goes into its box and might be donated to another charity shop...

Time for coffee.

I'm going to recycle my old tablet. It'll be one of five or six devices I'll get rid of come January. It's ancient in tablet years (bought it in 2012 to replace my first tablet), and I hardly ever used it for anything but travel. Now, I think they're mostly an unneeded compromise between laptops and smart phones.

HG has a lot of her phone apps on the table and uses it because of the larger screen. 10" if I remember correctly. Our cell signal out here by the lake sucks so she uses the wifi signal. Old eyes need bigger screens.

My daughters (and grandchildren) have up-to-date mobile phones. I can't see the screen and certainly can't type on the onscreen keyboard.

I might stick with my netbook and USB connected keyboard.

Much agreed. I'm using an old Amazon Fire as a clock.

Merry Christmas all!

The Christmas tradition...

Our niece was up at some early hour and is sitting in the lounge looking at the tree with the presents underneath.

Bec was trying to get me up as well - to make coffee... I held her down in a snuggle until 8.

Have a good one all

Thank You, Rus.
And compliments of the season to you & yours.
Don't forget to get NORAD tracks Santa on your computer.
It's well worth it!

Anyone need rain/ wet ?
come & get it !!

The early Christmas eve coffee is hitting a spot that needed warming.

The weather today hasn't been our usual calm air and bright sunlight. It isn't cold, and most of the rain is going around us.

Conditions outside were still uncomfortable enough to make the little tomcat who's been living on the back porch find someplace else to shelter. He seems to be walking normally, but he left bloody footprints on the concrete before I fed him this afternoon. I'm guessing he has an abscess draining--cats seem to get those with about every injury.

And a merry and naughty Christmas eve for all those in the mood and or the privacy.

Sorry for the evening coffee being a little late but the ladies needed a shower after spending most of the afternoon on the sun deck and eating chicken wings off the grill.

Dessert will be shared a little later. :)

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from the east coast of the US (it's 12:02AM).

It's been another long year, but whether you celebrate Christmas, Saturnalia, Kwanzaa, or just any excuse to hang out with family (or family of choice), feast and otherwise make merry, I hope each of you gets ample opportunity to do just that. :rose:  :rose:

And here's an early wish for joy, health, love, and light of all kinds in our next circuit around the sun.

You're a great group of folks to virtually know.

The same to you Belle. We try our best.

I'll make the midnight coffee a little early. I'll be headed for bed shortly.

Am I the first to offer a Christmas morning coffee?

Mine of course contains the optional eye-opener.

HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas!

Fresh coffee for one and all!

The Ladies woke me up early, got their presents, and are now back to sleep. :)

I may join them shortly. Everyone we know has other plans for the day. Sounds like a plan to me.

Merry Christmas, all. Here,we'll celebrate tomorrow when the youngest comes to town.

Today is my day to get the amaryllis out of hibernation. I'm going to repot three of them and give two to my oldest daughter. One of those is the offspring of my first amaryllis, which was given to me by her grandmother ~20 years ago. I'm going to end up with a few extra bulbs that may go to the trash.

My wife got exposed to Covid, so ..... everyone is avoiding us like the plague. It's a Christmas blessing.

Coffee on me.

It's an ill wind, and all that !

We got rain and cold for Christmas.
It's not nice.

But a quiet day spend snoozing in front of the TV,. with the video recorder on for the film. . . . .

Any Tea in the pot please ?#

A lazy day around here so far. Calls from inlaws, outlaws, and kids have been the only disturbances.

AAHH, I hope the wife has an easy time if she gets the covid. HG had it earlier in the year. Coughing, a headache, a slight fever, A blah feeling for a few days. After that, she was fine.

HP, the ladies spent their day about like you.

Steaks for supper are marinating in the icebox. The salad is made. The baked taters are ready for the oven.

We've had clouds and sunshine on and off, and little chores to finish before tomorrow. Right now I'm watering the lawn because the temperature hasn't been below freezing for a couple days and the hoses thawed. It's been a relaxed day.

and the Day After Christmas (called Boxing Day round these parts) dawns too early, crisp and clear.

Good morning crew. Fresh coffee is available

Yeah, you can call it boxing day if ya want but everyone knows it is really sort the loot day. What you're keeping goes in one pile, the re-gift stuff goes on the top hall closet shelf, and last but not least the who the fuck gave me that tacky crap pile. :D

Breakfast will be waffles if I can pry the ladies out of a warm bed.

It's only 64 out but someone, probably me, forgot to switch the heating system over from A/C before they went to bed earlier. High of 80 again today so they will flip it back to a/c sometime around mid afternoon.

Late evening Boxing Day in Singapore where we are for 10 days. Hot and humid as usual but the city is immaculate as always. The covid travel regulations are a bit of a pain, but so efficiently carried out that it is not too much bother. Hope you all had a good 25th .
