We've never really talked, but I am pulling for you Ogg. Be well, dammit!

Thank you. Apart from falling over, slurred speech and poor eyesight I have NO pain whatever and except for the symptoms mentioned I would never have been investigated that found the lesion on my lung. It might have been months or years before I had any symptoms of lung problems.

My doctor daughter suggested that my symptoms might be associated with early stages of lung cancer. It is a very rare condition indeed with only a dozen or so cases a year in the UK, but since she had mentioned it one of my consultants ordered a CT scan just to be sure. He didn't expect to find anything. That there was something was a surprise to him as well.

I have a small lesion on my lower right lung which could be lung cancer, and if so, could be the cause of my recent problems with falling over, poor eyesight and speech. (Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome)

If it is lung cancer it has been detected at a very early stage and could be treatable and that would relieve my other symptoms. The hospital will be in touch as soon as oncology has viewed my scan.

Strong coffee is needed...

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and the best possible outcome!

Thank you. I believe it did. Yet another interview (3rd) scheduled with the Board of Directors. It's taken nearly 1.5 months to get this far and it looks like I have another few weeks to go!

Good luck! I hope the wait produces the right result for you.

.

I once had to go & see a dermatologist. In the midst of magnifying glassesand Heaven only knows what else, I asked him "What is a lesion ?"
He stopped, smiled and said:
"It's a 'thing' for which we have no definite answer".

And with that, I believe its time for a coffee.

PS. A question about coffee.
Is the taste of the brew connected with the 'roast' or something else ?

...

And that is my situation. Until Oncology has looked and probably tested, no one knows what it is.

Happy Sinday everyone. Coffee is ready and I'm having cinnamon raisin toast for breakfast.

IP, it was a magic. I was cured in less than a week. ;)

Okay, I know, I said I was out for the weekend but I got everything done so... A three hour drive, 6 hours of getting things done, and a three hour drive back. My ass was dragging when I got home. I fell asleep in my chair while having my supper. Woke up. Stuffed everything in the icebox and went to bed.

I'm getting too old for this crap. Until the next time I have to do it, in any case.

I'm on my second cup while I get ready for my next trip into the garden. I brought in peppermint, basil, zucchini, and a gladiola in the first trip. I'll transplant parsley on the second trip, irrigate, and dig up a few weeds. I need to do some planting (Swiss chard and turnips) later.

No tomatoes yet, but it won't be long.

Thx for the coffee, Tex. Whew. Busy weekend. Looked at house Thursday evening, then three on Saturday afternoon. One of them was listed Friday night, the real estate agent got us in on Saturday, we liked it, filled out the paperwork, the owner said yes right away and now all signed. Moving September 1st. So now we’re packing wildly. Have to book movers too. And see what we can get rid of in the ne t few weeks. The new place is lovely inside. Outside it’s nothing much but inside it’s been totally renovated. Got these lovely polished wood floors and a huge deck. Guess what I’m doing for the next couple of weeks!

Learning to play deck shuffleboard?

Congratulations. Good luck in the new house.

Congrats.

How far is the nearest Home Depot? You’ll soon know the way blindfolded.

Erm. . . polishing the floor ? :)
Can I get you a coffee ?

PS. I sometimes like to watch film clips on YouTube; I can press the stop button and see more of the other stuff, or benefit from the expressions on the face of a competent actor/actress.
In this case it's the lovely Nichelle Nichols doing her bit to free the Enterprise (ST 3);
Take a look at this bit, particularly at about 1.40.

Writing 90k words about a energetic young Chinese girl being the life of the party on her new deck?

Whoa! Rental, or did you just buy your first house? In either case, congratulations, and I hope this means you don't need to move again for a good long time.

But speaking from experience, if you're new homeowners you can expect your first year there to be a busy one.

And also speaking from experience - figuring out a monthly expected maintenance budget for things like roofs, carpeting, etc is a good idea - sock away that much per month in a separate account, if you can. You don't need to replace a furnace, water heater, or such often, but when you do it usually needs to be done Right Now, and not having to load up your credit cards makes it a lot less stressful.

This one's fresh in my mind, since Thing1 & her guy just had it reinforced firsthand - a leaking upstairs water heater in a two story house is *not* a good thing . . .

A lot of things go into it, but the roast is a big part. Darker roasts give more carmelization, lighter roasts preserve more of the flavor of the bean.

The way it's brewed is also a huge factor. Cold-extracted coffee tastes very different from other coffees. Cowboy coffee will curl your hair (if you have any). French presses make good coffee as long as you don't mind some grounds. Drip coffee can produce a range of results depending on how much coffee you use and how hot the water is.

There are actually two species of coffee (arabica and robusta), and hybrids between them. Arabica beans produce better coffee, but robusta is resistant to the rust disease that at one time almost wiped out Arabica. So now there's a range in the quality of the bean, depending on whether it's pure arabica, pure robusta, or something in between. And then there's coffee with chicory added.

There are the gazillion factors that may be huge in some cases. How fresh is the coffee? How coarse is the grind? Where did it come from? Which part of the hillside did it come from? Was it picked at the right time? etc., etc.

It’s complicated.

Some beans are better than others, eg Arabica vs Robusta.

The darker the roast, the more you are tasting the roast and the less the bean. Conversely, darker roasts are sometimes said to have less caffeine.

Coffee made with freshly-ground beans tastes better.

How it is made matters - drip vs perk for instance.

How long the brew has been sitting since it was made matters. Fresh is best.

Obviously the water matters.

Get a couple of coffee fiends going and it is little different than wine mavens.

thanks for the gen, folks.
Not the chicory - please !

Busy and slightly nerve wracking. But I finally opened two new documents and started putting fresh words in so I'm feeling better. I was freaking myself out.

Good for you, Mags. :rose:

I looked out the window when I got up and Lo, it hath rained.
But, this being England, the sun Shineth brightly.
I'll the coffee while I can. . . . . . .
:)
