Ah, I see where you got the popcorn notion No, it's brown rice and green tea powder mixed with green tea leaves. 'Robust', one might call the flavor. I like it salty, not sweet. I think I tried buttered salted Tibetan tea long ago. I'll have to drop some ghee in the Genmai-Cha.

Meanwhile, human languages have only two words for tea: te, and cha. Why?

Clarified butter ?

Staples are out. The knee is sore but PT is thrilled with the progress. I can stop using the walker even. :)

Great news, Madam. :rose:
By 'sore' you mean the kin and so forth ?

"Alexa, give me a dream."

Odd, but I had a dental appointment today and the dental assistant was named Alexa. I'm guessing that she doesn't have the Amazon product in her home.

Reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX45pYvxDiA

Another big bang, but this time without so much flash. Someone's going down hard.

And nobody with a video camera or even a mobile phone to record it all ?
Ye gods, what is the world coming to ?
facebook will be lost !

And now we take you back to Peonchang for a report on the Winter Olympics.
[now pass me the coffee please].

Morning all! One large black, please. I brought muffins for those interested.

I'll exchange one large coffee (black) for a muffin, please.

It's time for my nocturnal cup of tea; taken with milk & sugar, thanksd.
Anyone else want one while I'm here ?

Two spam PMs in a couple of hours from "tattooed sexy".

I've forwarded both to Laurel, so if you see you have a number of PMs but nothing there, she's deleted them and the user.

More coffee available.

Evening all,

I think I have an idea for a new series. Two pages of notes and three characters so far. That and a four page start up seems like a good days work.

Ogg, I had the same spam and forwarded it also.

It's been a quiet day in here today.

You do have interesting neighbors. This is about the most exciting crime that happens where I live, and I kind of like it that way. One of the reasons I was soooo happy moving here.

My neighborhood is a low-crime area populated by a mixture of retired or nearly retired folks (like me) and by families with small children. There are two houses in the middle of the block that somehow slipped through the cracks, and they're occupied by the social fringe.

What ever crime made the State Police go after those people last night was probably not committed in this neighborhood.

That's a relief. For a moment there it sounded like you were in a free fire zone or something....

Only on New Year's Eve, when people like to fire off their personal canons along with their fireworks. My next-door-neighbor (now long deceased) had some kind of huge rifle that scared the pee out of my kids when it went off.

I set out last fall to write a story based on the Keresan tales of Yellow Woman. I failed. I failed miserably. I deleted the story and set to writing the Pixie series just to do something light and meaningless and let myself relax.

I've been entertaining a new approach to Yellow Woman since Christmas or so, and making slow progress toward what I want. I set work aside this morning and finished off the early, introductory part of the story. I found myself enthralled by the community in my head and by the character in ways that I never was before. It's still a little rough, but I'm not in a hurry.

The story is set in the world of Urta from 'The Third Ring,' but in a very different community. The first story was inspired by a Tiwa tale, and the new one by a Keres character, so they should be different.

And this one will be sexier.

You're on, but I might need some help with the Trans Girl. Never done that one before but why not. I think I have something in my head now. I think on Tex's Coffee Shop I posted something about troll hunting in Texas. Combine that with three loving wives, a trans girl and a Lahti 20mm and we have a story that will literally make the troll's heads burst. Like pumpkins. LOL.

Okay that was a bit off topic but why not....

Copied over from the Valentines Day thread. That was a great idea. Started right away, 1200 words of "A Troll is Haunting Tex's" already down. Added in a bi-guy and and ... well, I'm just having fun describing the troll Chloe and Steve are bringing along to Tex's in an old ammo box (a big one).

What happens when you wash a troll? :D

You find a dirty smurf, of course.

We had a shit of hail and a mint of snow, the second day of winter this year. No gunshots or choppers. But it was a three-buck day. Literally. Each were four-pointers, sauntering alongside our meadow, likely looking for doe. Then missionaries braved the weather and our atrocious mud road to our torn-up porch and inspected our heathen displays. No thanks, we said, we're safe.

No bears when I hauled the trash out. Whew.

Did you know that Emily Dickenson's poems fit perfectly with the theme song from GILLIGAN'S ISLAND? Try it:
Just sit right back
And you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip,
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny ship.

Because I could not stop for Death
He kindly stopped for me.
The Carriage held but just Ourselves
And Immortality.
I find myself fingerpicking old TV tunes on 'ukuleles. PETER GUNN is ominous. Turn THE FLINTSTONES into a minor dirge. BEVERLY HILLBILLIES on banjo-'uke, of course. SECRET AGENT MAN works better on Celtic mandolin tuned low. Hmm, what else can I dredge from my faded memory?

Coffee in the morning. It'll be a long day, and a couple more. There'll be time to grab a donut and run, and that's about it. Busy busy busy. More coffee...

Well, I'd suggest "Apache" (originally from the Shadows)

Now, if someone would explain in small words why I haven't been to bed, I would appreciate it.

Of course, if i had gone to bed, I wouldn't have a sexy redheaded bar whore turned gunfighter running all over a new story.

Unless, of course, you had gone to bed with a sexy reheaded bar whore turned gunfighter...

why does the sexy redhead have to be a whore ?
And given her gun-fighting abilities, who would dare to call her a whore ?

It's cold, it's wet and gloomy.
I need coffee. . . .

There's nothing wrong with not going to bed. I did, but being there hardly helped. I was awake much of the night with upcoming parts of my current story running through my head like movie trailers. So now I have a lot of the story envisioned, but when I try to write I don't know where to start.

Since I was mostly brain dead this morning, maybe i spoke too harshly but then again, back then you called a spade a spade. Also, she wasn't a gunfighter at the start but her daddy was.

Okay, fresh coffee for the afternoon crowd.

I play the Jørgen Ingmann version on mandolin or mandola. It's the major force driving my lust for a tenor mandola. The 13-inch mandolin fret scale is too short and cramped. My 19-inch baritone mandola is too long and hand-stretching. I'd commission a 16-inch tenor mandola if I wasn't spending its price on meds every month. So I may get a 15-inch concert (alto) or 17-inch tenor 'uke or taropatch and load it with mando-scale strings when the budget allows.

APACHE suits a mando. So do my signature pieces SURF CITY and WALK DON'T RUN and PIPELINE, while MISIRLU and OUT OF LIMITS work best on Dobro. I'm not a surf mandolin monster, but close. Just don't let me play that stuff on banjo-mandolin. Even ravens flee my vicinity.

This morning's coffee was mandatory. More challenges lie ahead. Now is time for wine, labeled PENNY LANE Napa Valley Merlot 2013, okay from the discount grocer. But the next mornings will require high-octane caffeine. Lots of it. Hmm, how about caffeine patches?

Caffeine patches? I'll have to see if I can add those to the cups, mugs, and IV's.

Fresh coffee now because I'm about to hit the bed.
