Morning all,

The coffee is ready. Plain and black. What you do with it after that is your own poison, uh, business.

Two days left. Whose bright idea was it to put New Years Day in the middle of winter?

Been there but the natives were not very friendly. ;)

Adelaide is much nicer. And the natives are VERY friendly. Right, EB?

Really? You've been to Papua New Guinea? NOT on my list of places to go. My Dad was there for six months for some mining construction thing and he refused to take us there. After he came back and told us why, I was, like, yeah, I'm okay with not going there. How about Disneyland instead? And Mom was "you're not going back there. Ever!" LOL.

I was there supervising crews on drilling rigs. The only locations i was ever on with a twelve foot electrified fence around them. Everything including the rig came and went by air. Like I said, the natives were not friendly.

Yeah, my Dad was up in the mountains somewhere and they never went away from the mining compound. Lots of security and guys running around outside who were rather unfriendly was the gist of it. He was happy to leave.

I think I'll have another coffee instead and dream about warm places. Apparently Adelaide is quite nice this time of year and there's no POLAR VORTEX!!!!!

And now, I have had this huge Italian lunch and I am sleepily vegetating before a huge Italian family dinner. I'm getting cuddlier by the meal. I am really going to have to work out when I get home next week. Eating far too much and it's all just irresistible.

Well, you might try Oz next time. . . .

Coffee and biscotti for me right now.....

That looked right tasty, Chloe.
<now then, where d'I put my biscuit barrel?>

Yes, please. Got a peppermint blend for Christmas that, after the first-use experience, I need to find a way to ditch when Santa isn't looking.

The egg nog version of the Christmas coffee isn't a bit better than the peppermint blend.

I love Italian. I could eat it every day, all day long. Cream sauce, tomato sauce and everything in between. Like you, the only problem is having to roll around everywhere because i'm too big to walk. ;)

I've lived in Oz several times, HP. My biggest mistakes were coming back to the U.S. of A. But then again, winter is in the middle of July and screws with my mental outlook on things.

Bread and then a nap works for me.

Egg nog and coffee should never be in the same sentence even.

The ideal recipe for a 'nog' type addition to the coffee, IMO, would have a sizeable measure of Brandy, rather than the 'egg' bits.
They can go in the Advokaat which, when mixed with a cherry brandy, makes an interesting taste. You can get p1$$ed very nicely that way.

Yeah, I hit it with a shot of Bailey's and the taste improved to almost tolerable.

That to big to walk thing is my fear. The way I'm going they'll need to wheel me on to the plane.

Australia? I've been there twice now and if there was one other country I'd move to, it's Australia.

I was more taken with New Zealand. I like to see mountains and the sea at the same time. I rode the day train from Melbourne to Sydney and wasn't thrilled. I once was asked to take an assignment in Alice Springs and, after research, was far less than thrilled. Both Melbourne and Sydney were very nice.

Egg nog works great for creamer, no eggy taste, just rum and nutmeg. I did purchase a coffee that is supposed to be eggnog flavored but they totally missed the mark. Eggy and no rum or nutmeg. Ewww.

Both sound delightful.

I think I already have my writing planned out for 2018.

I didn't do either. I did some writing instead. ;)

Congrats! That's great. As organized as I am, I don't think I could write according to a plan. I still have a hard time calling myself an author.

Good work!

Hey, you wrote, then you're a writer.

Oh, this is just my list of projects that I plan to complete and I know it will take all year . . . . unless I suddenly become independently wealthy and can devote myself to writing full time. But, seeing as I forgot to buy a lottery ticket today, that seems unlikely.

My daughter's house was just broken in to. They don't even know yet what is missing, but it's quite a bit.

They're having a studio built next to the house in place of the old garage and I'd place bets that the perp is part of the crew that poured the foundation.

What else sucks? Jan. 1 is their wedding anniversary and her husband planned to take her to an ancient spa north of here for their anniversary. Those hard-to-get plans could be trashed now.

Wow, that sucks. I hope the cops catch the guy and they can get at least some of their stuff back. Crazier things have happened. :rose:

Sorry to hear that. I'm with MP on hoping the cops can catch the idiots. Did you daughter have a security camera? Or maybe one of her neighbors.

A horrible event to end the year on. If at all possible, they should get a friend or family to house-sit and celebrate their wedding anniversary as planned. They need it. I hope they catch the bastard(s) and recover the property.

I've been extremely lucky - living in a major US city, in quite a central neighborhood (and not gated, that's for sure), and yet keep the back door open to give the pets free access to the yard. Our current dog is a mutt barely larger than a Chihuahua. OTOH, we have neighbors who would probably bring all hell down if they saw anyone trying to break in.

To the rest of us, however, you ARE an Author.

I hope the police manage to get 'em, and that the goods will turn up, unharmed (or maybe a good Insurance ?)

PS. Anyone got a copy of the Eagles "Just too busy being fabulous"?
It's dropped off Utube and I cannot find it on my Christmas Pressie CDs .

I'm not getting out in this weather, even for a lottery ticket. Of course, that gives me more time to write. ;) I have my NaNo story I'm trying to complete. Somehow, it's taking much longer to get to the ending I have in my head, so today I'm reading it to see what I can find.

To the rest of us, however, you ARE an Author.

Thanks, HP. :rose::kiss:
