Define christian, paleface. :D

That's a totally leading comment.

How Christian were the US soldiers who cannoned the church at Taos so they could perpetrate one of the biggest mass hangings is US history?

How Christian where the Spaniards who burned men alive beside the walls Arenal just to demonstrate how brutal they could be?

Obviously this could go on.

Oh wait, being Christian is just about following prescribed rituals. My bad. Just stick to your fucking calendar. Enjoy.

My sister's birthday is the 25th. I remember when she got gifts they said Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday -- one gift instead of two, as most people received. Today is my son's birthday. I thought of how my sister cried when she was young because she had to share her day.

I didn't want my son to go through what my sister did. So I chose to take down all Christmas decorations on Dec. 26th. The 27th was his day. Cake, balloons, and gifts wrapped with birthday paper.

Odd, I suppose, but he appreciated it.

A real charitable thought, that.
I have a pal whos wife celebrates her Birthday on Christmas Day; I must ask her how she dealt with it when younger.
Meanwhjile, the Dragon's been asking after you. Are you OK ?

My boiler's been fixed, but it am awfu' cold this morning.
The weather gods emptied the bag of snowflakes over the area at stupid- o' clock and they have not all gone yet.

Meanwhile; coffee.
:rose:

My eldest granddaughter's birthday is on Christmas Eve. She has an 'unofficial' birthday in June so she can have a birthday party with her school friends who would not be available on Christmas Eve.

My wife's birthday is mid-December. We don't put our decorations up until the day AFTER her birthday.

Well, several of our local shops are open (Hooray; I was running out of milk!)
and the sun is shining (bloody cold though).Have a Good Day, folks.

Now; where'd I put my coffee . . .

Since HP can't find his coffee, I'll make fresh.

It's cold here and wet. Nothing like the cold and wet up north. A years worth of snow in three days. That sounds familiar but ours wasn't frozen. Crazy ass weather this year. And what will the new year bring?

Have fun. I'm off to write. The end is near. No, not the end of the world, the end of my novels project. :)

I'll drink that fresh coffee. I have an entire free morning. My laptop, wifi, coffee, bagels, cream cheese, everyone is out and I'm relaxing and writing. Another Valentine's Day story. "Fields of Gold". Totally a tear jerker I think. First love and AH64 Apaches .... and roses. I just need an apache Pilot now. I have a couple of books on them I'm using (Apache Dawn by Damien Lewis and Apache by Ed Macy). What can you say. A boy. A girl. Her Apache. And roses.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. So Christmas here with the SO's family was fun. Huge family, as in, a cast of hundreds. Met a few new ones.... roll on New Years Eve! In the meantime, this day shall not be wasted.....my story calls..... (and we have the basement for our very own, not my guy's old bedroom - I think we made too much noise last visit (blushes shyly lol) - so I can hideout in the basement Undisturbed.)

If it was a Hughe Cobra, we could talk but I'm a little (lot) behind the times on the new stuff.

So, they finally got you locked up in the basement dungeon. :D

Have fun.

Would Chloe's Apache helicopter be the "Longbow" version, I wonder.
(See Wings of the Apache" film for a glipse)
[note this film may also be called 'fire birds']

I'll take a cup of thqat coffe, though, if you please

The actual Apache action takes place in 2007 in Afghanistan so any suggestions on model flown is welcome. I'm thinking the AH64D Longbow but for the story it's not so important as long as it's a model that was in service there in 2007. Going to pick my SOs brains tonight although I may leave him out of this completely so as to take credit for all military mistakes myself and avoid embarrassing him. Lol

Anyhow it's the US Apache, not that Brit one that they did all the mods on.

From Wiki:-
"Several models have been derived from both AH-64A and AH-64D for export. The British-built AgustaWestland Apache (assembled from kits purchased from Boeing) is based on the AH-64D Block I with several different systems, including more powerful engines, folding rotor blades, and other modifications for operation from Royal Navy vessels."

I think it is time for coffee. The evening crew will probably welcome a warm up.

Hey, Reuben - on September 30th 2011, I stood at the summit of that little hill :)

Uhuru peak - the peak of Kilimanjaro, the rooftop of Africa, the top of the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, 35% higher than the tallest mountain in the fixed-48...

It took 4 years of training and saving and training and planning and training.

The only mountain I ever climbed was Pikes Peak. An interesting drive to say the least.

It is Friday so you only have a total of three days to make this year better or worse. Kind of like old age, don't wait until the end to fix things that need fixing and I'm not talking about the leaky faucet.

Coffee anyone?

Yes, please. Got a peppermint blend for Christmas that, after the first-use experience, I need to find a way to ditch when Santa isn't looking.

Peppermint works for tea but not for coffee in my way of thinking either. Chocolate and vanilla are about the only two flavors I can take for any length of time.

Keep some for when you have a cold, perhaps ?

Whisky in the tea, Rum or Brandy in the coffee, for me !

Thank Chloe; it's a heap o' junk film but it has enough flying for me to take an interest !

Cool. Wasn't what I was looking for tho. Found some clips on YouTube that helped but I think overall the books gave me a better idea. Got a huge chunk of battle scene written this afternoon. I need a waterproof keyboard tho, it's so sad. I got to write something funny next. Time for more coffee now that I've come up for air.

I don't know about YT in the USA, but I get really peeved at there being some form of 'obscuring' the image of the film. This has taken the form of
extra-large blow-up, so we only see the middle of the screen,
or 'fog' over the image, or part thereof,
or a reduction (in very inferior quality) to a 'screen' smaller than the disply screen, or even a distorted sound track (a good example is Beatles tracks)
It's bad enough when some tw@t 'objects' so we get "this is not available in your region for copyright reasons" or something like it (a good example is Beatles tracks).

Meanwhile, time for tea !

PS: Bruce McCandless, RIP.
