Fast food:

No McD's unless I'm on a long drive and short on time. A couple of double cheeseburgers from the dollar menu without onions are easy to eat one handed without a lot of mess.

Whataburger, has the best coffee of all the fast food joints and pretty good breakfast plate or two. Their hamburgers are a good change of paces.

Dairy Queen, good steak sandwich, good tacos, and a good taco salad. Of course every meal has to be topped off with an ice cream cone.

I used to like Church's chicken but they changed their grease a number of years ago and the new stuff give me indigestion bad.

KFC wasn't bad but they are getting hard to find.

Popeyes relies too much on Tabasco sauce as a spice. Although they do have a pretty good catfish dinner.

Burger King is a good change of pace.

Your mileage may vary.

We had Whataburgers here long ago. My wife and I walked there with babe in arms because they were close to home and neither her nor I had time to make dinner. At the time their thing was Jalapena burgers. I loved'em.

Whataburger went away, so then whenever we went to Tejas I insisted that we had to eat at Whataburger. San Antonio, San Marcos, Austin... I didn't care.

It was never because their burgers were great. It was because I wanted to watch my wife over their sloppy, chili-infested burger mess and remember when we were young and she cradled our oldest in her arm while we ate.

Whataburger is back now, and they're selling "the burger like you're Granddad made" with grilled cheese and chile on it all. I'm like totally their target audience.

Never seen one. Here in the PNW it's a place called Burgerville. I haven't made it there, yet, because when you're surrounded by seafood, why eat a hamburger?

However, when there are enough people to eat them up, I do like making buttermilk biscuits. I usually just put butter on them though my late wife did like honey on hers. Sausage gravy? It's a Southern thing and I'm a Left Coast kind of bruin.

Given a choice, though, I'll go for Southern style cornbread. You know, the kind with hardly any wheat flour. Yum!

I have some M42-fitting bellows and I have used them for some real close-up stuff, which was FUN. I'm trying to locate GOOD f2 Helios (the Mk2 for preference).
My M42 KMZ Helios-44M 58/2 cost me a whole US$19 shipped a few years back. I have no complaints. Some of my great M42 glass in that neighborhood are a Sears (Tomioka) 55/1.4, Asahi (Pentax) Super-Takumars in 55/1.8 and and 55/2 (the latter inexplicably MUCH cheaper), and Mamiya-Sekor, Petri C.C., and Rikenon in 55/1.8, all brilliant.

I wonder if that Heligon could be made to work with my canon DSLR ?
Enlarger (EL) and some few projector (PL) lenses have iris apertures so you can control exposure and depth of field. Some PLs and some VERY few ELs are zooms. (I'll brag about my Schneider Betavaron some day.) Lenses from fixed devices like copiers and XRay machines (that Heligon-XR 120/1.8), and most PLs, lack an iris. You *can* install an iris behind the lens on the bellows or other mount, but I often shoot those wide-open, where a longish, fast lens shines, hey? That monster Heligon is wizard for portraits.

Yes, bellows are not just for closeups and macro work. Infinity focus is quite possible. With a helicoid mount I can take 50mm or longer lenses to infinity; my cheap Chinese bellows hosts anything 85mm or longer. My ELs and PLs in the 75-155mm range see a fair amount of use -- or did, before my eyes worsened. ELs are not fast (max aperture is often f/3.5) but they're flatfield, razor-sharp, and often incredibly cheap.

Will any of these work with your Canon? I'm unfamiliar with the controls, sorry. Try some and see! I shoot through any glass (or plastic) I can stick on the bellows. Spectacles and prisms can be odd...

When me and my friend road trip we always try to stay away from franchises and find a nice diner to eat at.
Ever heard of Lee's Chicken? Not sure if they're still around, but we used to go to either Lee's or Church's, get a box of chicken and of course friend okra at Church's, and go to the drive in.
My youngest son, he's 17, works at KFC. He's been there about a year and is shift supervisor :)

Thanks for all the suggestions for the cold/flu. Hoping that I maybe just picked up a bug because I feel better today, just a sore throat.
I had the flu 12 years ago and I was miserable, so I'm thinking luckily not the flu this time.
Need to get some fresh ginger, mine was old and squishy :(

Can you hear the sounds of 'droooling' ?
Apart from the puzzle of mounting strange fittings to my Canon for purposes as yet unknown, I think I am ignorant enough to leave well alone (I looked up that Betaveron !)
If you ever hear of a decent lens, do please let me know. I'd appreciate some info on fitting the damn things to a camera, too, please.

The great 'Portrait man' Karsch of Ottawa used to claim that the lens he used most was the one that also worked on his projector. I must give that some thought. . . .
I'm hoping for the delivery of a Sony DSLR A380 today. Now THAT should be fun; and it's peeing down with rain . . .

.... wrong thread ....

SAE or Metric? We have a large assortment in the back. :D And you people wondered how I kept the nuts tight.

Morning, morning, morning. In fact, it is Moanday Morning. Do with it as you like.

Fresh coffee is now available for those late to work or who don't have to go in to work.

Coffee? Yes please. Rather over-committed myself on Fields of Gold and I'm laughing at myself for being so ambitious. Got 12k written this weekend which was 50% of my target. And working most of this week so sleep is way down the priority list right now. I'm going to see how I go tonite but I may do a condensed version and cut a lot of filler out. Keep that coffee coming. The strong stuff

Ambitious and deadlines do not belong in the same paragraph. One drives you crazy and the other kills ya.

One double double coming up. I will not be held responsible for your stomach lining later.

So right. Eeeek

My stomach lining? It's held out so far but hmmmm, maybe I should give it's break. It's got many more years of use expected lol

We are all metric over here; these days, anyway.
It is not wise to chuck out the A/F or Whit spanners, though. There's still a great deal of old kit about - and a lot of it still works !
Is there dome hot water for a cup of tea, please ?

Do please be careful Chloe. I'm told it is dangerous to exceed the stated dose.

I prefer the capsules; I have needle phobia.

I can sympathise.
I have more needles and so on looming in a fortnight.
I ain't looking forward to it.

Trying to cut out dairy for a month, was surprised that I didn't miss the creamer in my coffee today, just stevia and cinnamon.

Organic soy milk is a good alternative. Get ours from Costco. Don't get the non- organic, it's all GMO.

I'm allergic to soy. I use coconut for a few things but mostly go without, doesn't hurt a bit. I'll add some dairy back in, in a month. Or maybe sooner, depending.

Ooook. Me, I have that lactose intolerant gene so dairy doesn't go well, which is a shame coz I love I scream so every now and then I just give in and indulge in modest amounts.

Almond milk is okay too, but I don't like rice milk. And coconut and me don't get on too well either.

I do virtually 100% organic/vegetarian, and where I shop at a local grocer who carries such stuff there seems to be a number of non-dairy frozen selections. Just saw one from Breyers recently. No one should have to give up their ice cream :(

I used to be full on allergic to milk but it went away. So far no lactose intolerance. Does the lactaid ultra help at all? Works for several of my family.

Sorry, girls, but I like ordinary milk in my coffee, so if you'll excuse me, I'll have another cup right now.

Milk in coffee? I haven't done that since my early teens. Just enough Splenda to cut the bitter edge off the coffee.

The last cow to mess with me learned why I called her Hamburger.

Fresh coffee is now available for those about to be late for work or who ain't going anywhere for any reason. I'm in the latter pile.

No milk ? I'll have to settle for cream, I guess; with a little sugar, o'course.
Better organise my Lunch, I reckon

And then there was that morning when J-P Sartre was sitting in the bistro, polishing up his Etre et non-être, and the waitress asked what he'd have. "A coffee, please, with no cream." The waitress returned a long time later. "I am so sorry, monsieur," she said. "We are all out of cream; will you take it with no milk instead?"

Morning everyone, except those in other time zones.
