Consciousness requires a brain
Well I died once...they finally got me back...there was nothing there. No light, no voices, not a thing. That may have been the reason I did come back.
Really? How did you die exactly?
Heart attack, in the ER, on the table.
Those Christians are going to be disappointed once they realize that Jesus is not waiting to greet them after they die.
An eternal void of absolute nothingness awaits.
When?
Someone explain to Yates what's wrong with his post.
The afterlife does not exist
The dead Christians will be void of conscientious. They won't be aware that there is no Jesus.
Well, you know what they say. The road to hell is pained with good inventions.
It's the same void you experienced before you were born. Just like old times. Those Christians are going to be disappointed once they realize that Jesus is not waiting to greet them after they die.
An eternal void of absolute nothingness awaits.
Mike said that Christians were going to be disappointed when Jesus doesn't meet them when they die. He believes that we just cease to exist, so how can we feel disappointment?
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
I will probably get slammed for responding here but read Josh McDowell's More Than A Carpenter. It is intense but good. It might give you some insight. Life is too hard. Josh McDowell didn't believe and researched more. There really was a Jesus who did amazing things. We keep track of time now from before and after his death. Even if you don't believe in what he is that in itself shows he was important on earth. I believe in a Higher power. As for the Afterlife. What can it hurt to believe? What can it hurt to try be a better person on this earth? What can it hurt to believe what the bible says about Heaven? I think something has to be better than here!!!!
Do I want to tell other people what to believe. Am I intolerent of other beliefs. No way! Just like I won't tell you that you are wrong. I'm just telling you that this Twisted Christian is ready to go home. LOL. If I die before you I will see if I can get a message to you all and let you know.
We keep track of time now from before and after his death. Even if you don't believe in what he is that in itself shows he was important on earth.
Two points that prove your stupidity. Forget Mike. His is a special case, documented by below average IQ scores.
1. You (and Mike) used what is known as a "circular argument" -- an argument that commits the logical fallacy of assuming what it is attempting to prove. Also known as begging the question. The whole point of an afterlife is having a new consciousness in another realm after a bodily death. You don't prove or disprove anything by simply denying that premise by asserting that dead people are unconscious.
2. I intentionally used the words "pained" and "inventions" in my last reply to you to hint at your misuse of the word "conscientious." You meant "conscious." Conscientious means to be mindful of or exercising an appropriate standard of care.
"Conscious" means to be alert and awake. Something you've yet to demonstrate in this thread.
