I can’t remember the last time I had to get up early on a daylight savings Sunday so it’s never been a big deal. A lot of people would like to get rid of it but I actually like it. Two reasons:

1. It’s been a fact of life for my entire 66 years on this. I’m officially an old coot, set in my ways and hate change.

2. The extra daylight is a signal that warm summer nights are right around the corner. My town’s “First Friday” season starts next month!
And I thought I was the only old one who thought this way haaaa?? Granted I'm 8 years your junior but I hate or ummm dislike change. Thighs that my twin young boys don't understand who go about life like whatever???

Doesn't help that my wife is also 12 years younger than me and has this same attitude so it's 3 vs me ugh 😳

What’s all this talk about bad weather? I had an overnight in Sacramento last night and the weather was great out here! Glad I’m on the backside of all the bad stuff!

Hope all are having a nice weekend. Some of us have to work😭.
I hope you get to have SOME fun this weekend, HDH! 🥰

Granted it’s been that way your (our) lifespan but it’s contrary to nature. I know it’s a little thing but it’s another example of man trying to force nature to our will. It never works.

I get grumpy about this, it’s another step away from obeying the laws of nature. The flowers, trees, birds, animals all by the sun and seasons for a reason.

Now I’m gonna string some love beads, get my granny dress and let my pits grow till I can braid them.

Peace ✌️ Out ♥️

this move forward, doesn’t bother me as much, although I’m not crazy about the darker mornings, as I’m in early riser.

The one in the fall really fucks me up. Really messes with my internal clock for a couple of weeks.

It doesn’t matter whether we’re for daylight savings or against it. What matters most is that we get grumpy. So put on those love beads, crank up the Woodstock album, and let those pits flourish. (Warning: you might get messages from us >50 guys saying “show us your pits!”) ❤️☮️❤️

Maybe I’m just not old enough, but I’d rather listen to some old school punk rock records and maybe even do the mosh in my living room.

Hi All, I’m turning 50 this year so I thought I’d break the rules and check in here. Single pan woman, live in PNW. I’m not quite ready to go on the apps but starting to think about dating or something after the end of a monogamous LTR. More than a decade since I was out there but I’ve been a Lit reader (although never on the social side) for a lot longer. My sex life has been … lacking … for years so it’s inspiring to see that not everyone active on here is 25 or looking for a 25 year old.

Welcome. This thread is supportive.

It's kinda laughable. It's an artificial construct altered to create a sense of control. I don't think it's an attempt to force nature. It doesn't do anything.

I dunno. Seems more like playing "pretend" more than anything. In my opinion, building a greenhouse in the arctic circle is farther away from the laws of nature than daylight savings time. DST is just silly.

If you grow them long enough you could tie them together and jump rope. It would be interesting.

Welcome, always nice to see another PNW person here! I’m in Washington myself.

Hi

Granddaughters dance recitals tomorrow. All day event with dance studios throughout the region performing and competing. Ages 2 through high school seniors, group performances and individual performances, variety of styles, mostly girls but some confident boys too. They all work hard to prepare for these events and it shows on stage. The costumes and makeup are amazing (and expensive) and the kids love it. We go to see our grands (7 and 3) of course, but enjoy all the performances.

The only bummer we’ve gotta get up real early tomorrow. The event starts at 9 am, it’s an hour away, and we lose an hour to daylight savings. It’ll be worth getting out of bed early tho.
That will be so much fun! The sleeplessness and long drive will be worth it! 💞

Guilty as charged!!!

Can't wait for this week with day lights savings time occurring tomorrow meaning we're all gonna start enjoying later sunlight in the afternoons!! Sun is still gonna be up around 630ish to 700ish so something to look forward to 🙂
You're one of the few who look forward to the time change! I just wish we could stay on one time schedule. While I love having light later in the day, I especially hate the Spring Forward! Even now, when I'm retired. 🙄😒

Where's the commune? I'll join you! 😅🤣😅

It's the Spring Forward that fucks me up for a few weeks. I'm just fine with Fall Back.

Welcome! Girl, you will get SOOOO much action here! I'm 65 and have had 18 year olds hitting me up! Now what do these babies want with an old woman? 🤔🤣🤣

I agree with ya on a few accounts. It is a sign that the nicer, warmer weather is here, and longer daylight too.

It’s the long march to the summer solstice, when the days start to get shorter. All due to that 23.5° tilt of the earths axis.

Gardening and plant season is right around the corner!

But I’m not crazy about the abrupt change. Most auto accidents occur right around the time changes. Especially in the fall.

I can relate. It takes me a full week to adjust.

Your avatar does suggest what they want :ROFLMAO: !

You might be my evil town then.

Or Maybe I’m the evil one… just curious, why does the spring one mess with you? Are you an early riser?

For me, the fall one is tough. I have seasonal affective disorder, so when we’re thrust into the darkness, it really messes with me. Like, one day I’m driving home from work and it’s light out and the next it’s pitch black. And knowing that the sunlight gets even more scarce till winter solstice on Dec 21 doesn’t help.
