The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

So the MRI results were 5 bulging disks, plus something in that T11 (the one she broke and was glued) so now waiting on Doc to call to proceed. SWMBO is big into Holistic medicine…I call her SWMBO Medicine Woman due to her Indian ancestors. I’m sure she’ll figure something.

I have one of those inversion tables that I’m sure would help, but every time I’ve mentioned her giving it a try she acts like it’s something from the Spanish Inquisition and begs off. 🙄

I got good news from doc yesterday so hopefully our maximum contributions to the medical professionals retirement fund will be curtailed just a bit! Sadly Momma’s older brother is having an emergency procedure today for blood clots in his lungs…back out to the hospital this a.m. Keep yer fingers crossed.

The bulging disks could be the source of her pain. They put pressure on the nerves that exit the spinal column at that particular level. PT is very good for this. I'm glad Mrs H is on the alt tx. Although I don't blame Momma for not wanting to use the inversion table. It can be uncomfortable at best and dangerous at worst for the elderly. Being head down increases intracranial pressure which could lead to a stroke.

How did your uncle do? They likely inserted a catheter into the pulmonary (lung) vasculature and gave him a dose of a clot busting drug. Pulmonary embolism (blood clot) is extremely dangerous.

Wow! I really want to get good at astrophotography. I’ve got a 6” Dob telescope I got for the kids when they were young. I’ve seen some contraptions you can hook up to get shots through that. Maybe this weekend I’ll just JerryRig my tripod w the camera and see if it works?

PS…Those are great shots!
Thank you, H! 😘

We have a telescope but my husband never set it up. I have seen some attachments that will hold the phone's lens next to the eyepiece in order to take photos.

It might be cool to try it in the boat. But, since my default energy level is permanently set on "lazy," it probably won't happen. I'm used to using my phone; it has 100X zoom.

Dr. Tyler wouldn't do a motherfucking thing I asked/told her to do up to dousing herself in water if she were on fire. She fucks around with stuff, like her recent back pain. I say, call the doctor. Later, did you call the doctor? I'll do it tomorrow. Jesus fucking Christ!!! She finally did and got in yesterday. X-rays say she has two more compression fractures in her lumbar area. They gave her drugs, which make her dopey-st000pid and hostile. I tooken issue with her story and told her she was stoned. She hung up on me. Days like these, I consider blocking the number of all my blood kin save for direct lineal descendants . . . .

On to herd weasels.
This sad but typical in the elderly. Is the dr just going to medicate? PT might be helpful for her if she would go.

For years we had this problem…tell me if you can identify.

Momma or Dad would have some malady. SWMBO would tell them exactly what to do, homeopathic or otherwise. They’d blow her off, UNTIL, they heard the SAME thing on the nightly news of choice. THEN and only then would it be gospel.

I think Dana Carvey had a bit in one of his comedy skits…about your parents turning into toddlers as they age…
It's true!

My mom would complain to me about something.

Me, "Did you do that thing I told you to do?"

Her, "No, I looked it up on the internet..."

Me, "OK. Do what the internet tells you to do, not your daughter who is a healthcare professional." 🙄🙄

I used to have a a timetable that would make MP3s. It was awesome and I have a great library now of over 60k songs.

Edit: turntable
I still have some of the components of my 80s era tower stereo system. There is a way to connect the tape deck and/or turntable to my computer. I just need to have some uninterrupted time to tackle it. Right now I have so many other projects going on.

I’m sorry to read about her hearing loss. I have lost some range such as at the higher pitch. It’s hard to understand my granddaughter.
My husband had a really hard time with children's and some women's voices because of the pitch. My voice is low pitched; it was easier for him to hear me. Also, he was more used to listening to me. I had to repeat everything the trainer said when he was still going with me.

He couldn't hear our grands either.

Wow, 8 Tracks, love it, great sound for the time, but so impractical. I had a friend who built frames for old 4tracks and 8tracks, I think 50 or so fit, fun stuff.

If i started digitizing my albums, i would need a few years! I did convert to MP3 my CDs a few thousand of em! That took a while! 🤭
My music project took me weeks! I was converting CDs to mp3. Many of my files that had already been ripped somehow became corrupted so I had to work on recovering all of them. Some files had been ripped to other formats so they all had to be converted to mp3. I wanted to have all my music on my phone and use the Samsung music app. I was only able to work on it a few hours each day so it was a long slog to get it done.

He wouldn't remember to bring his head if it weren't attached
I text him detailed lists and he still doesn't remember to bring what he needs
I just need one solid day with his head screwed on right so he can finish the last few things. I don't think that's too much to ask. Yet it seems to be an elusive task. 😩

With the outfit, too?
(please say yes)
I think W would look adorable in that outfit. 🤣🤣🤣

I started converting mine in the winter when it snowed like crazy. Until then, being outdoors is a priority! Wishing you some fun when you start your project!

We should start a motorcycle gang or car club called The Flathedz.

I couldn’t be an officer tho, since I’m president, sergeant of legs (and the only member) of The Fucknutz MC.

You could wear their colors under our colors. It would help you look a bit more bulked up, too.

Wat is reckoning that he has 22 flathead. The two old Fords are flatties, and then there are 13 anvil cars and better than half a dozen inline eights in Fred's Engine Stall in the barn. Two of the cars are sixes and the rest are eights.

Speaking of, I'ma try that old guy again about that 1920 phaeton.

I am reading a very interesting but depressing book, called “Fiasco.” It’s about gulf war 2.

I will not violate the no politics rule.

I have a good sense of direction. It used to be a lot better. I feel like I always know which way is which.

I worked in NoVA for a few months back in 1990 and never had or used a map. I'd make a wrong turn, be somewhere I hadn't seen before, and guess my way back to the apartment, drunk or sober. It was bad then and is more worserer now. I'd be killed today.

I do not. I do have a Torino with a 351 Cleveland block.

So no. 😂

If that guy ever sells Frankenmotor, you'd be a candidate for a flathead donation.

There also be Ford bits still everywhere. Twenty years ago, you could buy a new surplus Ford flatheads block that the French military had left over. Seems they made the things until the 70s. The blocks were kinda spendy.
