The 3 months till summer diet and exercise thread

Like this thread...

Hello~waves~ Obviously, I am new here (posting on the bb that is) As I said in the reply title, I very much like this thread :) It is interesting, entertaining, educational AND motivational to read through all the posts. I, myself am looking to lose a bit and tone a bit also, to hopefully get back to my usual size 5. I am going to look over, again, all the posts here, and maybe I shall also come up with a regime. Also, since I am here finally, can anyone tell me how to get my avatar to show up? I have already tried to add it to my CP, but it won't let me change the apparent default 'no avatar' choice to put in my chosen avatar's url  Thanks in advance for the help with the avatar, and again, hello to everyone. :)

welcome :rose: :)

Ps . you must have 100 posts to be allowed to put an avatar on , we all went through it ;)

Thanks For the Welcome...

Oh...Thanks for the welcome here, Babiesmiles~waves~ and for the info on avatars  ...my dumb. Sorry about that. Haven't been here other than to read, since I was a volunteer editor when they didn't even have many of the catagories they offer now to which you could submit a piece of writing. Was alot of fun then :) They were always telling me my own subs were to risque ;) I like getting to post replies to more than questions on writing, although, as I mentioned, working for Lit. was alot of fun for me. Again thank you for the heads up. I shall not complain then, and simply await my reward for my hundredth post on the board :D

Welcome Fantasia, and good luck with the size 5. :)

Leg day. I was disappointed last week when my legs weren't sore. I'll have to kick my own ass today.

Thanks...

Thanks much for the kind welcome, WriterDom :) and for the wishes to get down from a 7 to a 5 again :D Nice to meet you!

Joining the Party Late...

But with enthusiasm!
Been a BBW for a decade, and whilst I'm 'friends' with my body, it is not my natural form... was put on with a 5 year illness many years ago. My man always liked my curves and big girl bod, but now he's gone (Long, Jerry-Springer-ish story) and I'm not content with my current outward appearance.
So, on the slow but steady theory, I would like to commit to:
1) Eating healthy, regular meals. Starting with breakfast, which is not a norm. Any suggestions for one who hates yogurt? Continuing with lunch, also not a norm... And a good dinner, eaten before 7pm and no food after. (Previous eating habits... lunch at 2 or, more often, first meal at 6:00, with a second meal 'round 10pm and bed at 2am or later. Up at 6:15 am and a nap, if not working, 'round 1:00. Can we say sluggish metabolism?)
2) A More conventional daily life... waking at 6:15, eating breakfast by 8:00, light and healthy meal between 11-1, nutritious dinner by 6:30 pm, into bed by 1:00ish. No naps unless on weekends or ill.
3) Exercise... in the form of walking (outdoors or on the Tony Little Gazelle) for a min of 20 minutes, to start (I've been gardening, and walking and Gazelle-ing in an inconsistent pattern for a few weeks, but now it's time to get serious), adding 5 minutes a week. I will also start upper-body training with light (5 lb) weights and four exercises found on the plethora of 'how-to' sites.
Of course, I have to get weights, and am going away for the weekend, so this will begin on Monday morning, with "the best I can do" from now 'til then.
So there. Encouragement and ideas welcome. Will not check into Lit each day until exercises done. (Crossing heart & stuff)

20 minutes. Check.
Lunch (Cheerios w/ 2%). Check.
Dinner plans- grilled chicken breast w/cukes & carrots. Dessert- Apple.

2 pts for me! : :) :

I had my class dance this afternoon . Two hours of hard training ! But I feel happily tired now ... wow :rose:

I was ssssssoooooooooooo bad . I had two (not one but two) chocolate turtles. :nana:

But I am still feeling the effects of the food poisoning a couple of weeks ago...

But I was at the gym for 90 minutes yesterday and yes I did exercise.

I'm eating well & exercising... but not yesterday or today... fell prey to whatever illness has been stalking the kids. (fever, aches, crawling skin, congestion, etc).

But before I succumbed, my massaging person (oh! can't think of how to spell massuese!) who hasn't seen me in 2 months told me I was looking good & my skin tone/color had improved... with no prompting or info from me!

I'm going to go dream positive thoughts, now.
(Whole wheat english muffin, breakfast... oatmeal, lunch)

I am soft, like a baby's ass.

I will punish myself in the gym tonight.

Im way off program. We've all been sick. I'm almost caught up with all the other stuff I didn't do so I hope to get back on track soon. I'm ready for the activity - all this laying around is making me feel like a big lump.

Besides the 3 hours dance training I always attend weekly since almost twelve years , today I had my second day in a Gym ( never gone to one before  ) cause some friends I work with dragged me there and as we have it like a kinda fringe benefit ( I never used it in years ) it is really not expansive.

The Gym trainer made me a programme , that I should follow daily , or at least 4 time a week <shudders > of

15 mins of exercise bike quiet/medium speed to start ,
12 x 3 hig abdomen ,
12 x3 low abdomen ,
plus several series of exercises on strange machines ( i even don't know the names)
12 x3 each leg for gluteus muscles ,
12 x3 breast muscles ,
12 x3 inner thigh ,
12 x 3 external thigh ,
12 x3 shoulders
12 x3 tricipts ,
half minute hanging from a bar to stretch my spine ( I need it to balance dance and years of horseriding )
then finally to end 15 mins of trademill medium/ high speed ( I told him I wanted just walk speedly but not run cause I'm afraid to damage feet bones).

I'm well trained in general ( specially in aerobic activities and legs muscles) cause of the dance , so even in these very first days I had not difficulties nor pain doing it , but still it seems me a too harsh programme for a start.

So as I really don't know anything about gym programmes , I ask to more experienced people on here if it is an usual programme or he went down a bit too strict with it.

BTW I have not particular issues about weight, even if losing it is always an irresistible collateral bonus, and I just do it to keep fit both physically ( at my age a woman start to fight with every kind of gravity law ;) ) and mentally relaxing during lunchtime break from a stressful job .

Thanks in advance for any help ! :rose:

This illness is a nasty one... it's Mother's Day & it's still hanging on, although I think the fever has lost its power... or have I just become used to this surrealistic feeling?

Still eating healthy, 'tho very lightly, but the only exercise has been my skin crawling.

Cheers to you all who are upright, healthy and pushing it!
(Passing the tissue box and a weak smile to redelicious)

Looking forward to better days....

UGH thank you. I made that post days ago and I'm still getting my butt kicked by whatever this is. I have an appointment with the doctor later today, so hopefully I will get some relief soon.

Take care of yourself.

Still with the program.

Chest strength is up abruptly.

Assisted dips are my friend. I looked at myself in the mirror when I got home and I saw all these blue-green veins I'd never seen before heading from my chest to my arms. Bringing much blood to make me diesel like vin diesel.

Hmmm, today is ab and cardio day at the gym.

Also have been doing low carb, south beach style. Will post again later.

Well I've got to make up for last weeks PMS nightly ice cream indulgence.I lost 5 more pounds though,so I'm down to 153 from 176.3 Jan 29. The jeans are getting baggy.

(I need to check dates and #'s in WW book)

Amazing what bronchitis will do for a poochy tummy. I'm back in my white paperdenim&cloth just in time for the summer heat! See, all you have to do is put your throat in so much pain that the thought of swallowing food causes more fear than a bullwhip, and presto! Flat abs.
