The 2020 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Supportpage

Still writing, but there’s about 18 stories submitted so far, and Laurel will be checking for uploads up until tomorrow morning, so hopefully 20 or so. I don’t have to much to write, another 3k words, and it’s mostly tentacle sex, so I’ll get my story entered. I’m enjoying it a lot. I keep stopping to reread. That’s so baaaad.

Go Chloe Go! Get your Cephalopod on!

WRITE! I'm curious how different the tentacle sex will be :)

Well I’ve been researching octopus reproduction and it’s been truly fascinating. Semen deposits, specialist reproductive tentacles, cannibalism. Wow. I’ve used bits and pieces creatively.

Uploaded. I'm sick and tired of cutting it this close. It's the third year we're doing Geek Pride and every fucking time I'm down to the freaking wire. Argh.

Enough with obsessive writing, now back to the usual obsessing over review scores.

Also, let's whip out some drinks and confetti - "Express Delivery" is my 50th submission to this here fine website. 951 more and I'll be even with sr71plt :)

You are both doing better than I am. Mine is technically done as of about an hour ago. It's a cohesive story from start to finish, but dear lord is the last third of it rough. "Bite the pillow boy, I'm going in dry" rough. Not ready for publication yet.

I just sent a note to my favorite editor asking if he can squeeze me in sometime before the end of June. Hopefully I'll have it polished enough for editing by then.

I started the GPD story to have the deadline as a motivator, and I've gotten that much out of it at least. Thank you all for the support. I look forward to reading the stories of everyone who accomplished what I could not.

Well I got it in 5 minutes ago, 42k words and I was a bit tired by the time I got to the loss of virginity scene do that’s not quite as OTT tentacular as I wanted but I had fun with everything else. Hope you all enjoy. And I’m looking forward to everyone else’s.

Where is the event landing page?

Also, no mention of Geek Pride on the main page? Seriously?

I submitted an edit of my story last night, just before the midnight deadline but now find my story listed as "Draft" not Pending." Is think this not good but would appreciate clarification.

It means you didn't actually submit the story.

You need to open up the submission page, scroll to the bottom and press "preview," then at the end of the preview press the button to submit the story.

There is a story on the event page with your name. Perhaps it’s the edit that is now pending.

Nice start so far. Nearly a thousand views, and all ten ratings left so far have been five stars, earning it the "Hot" tag. One nice comment as well. Woo hoo!

Thanks to both of you - edit now pending.

I counted this up myself our of curiosity and thought I might as well share with the rest of the class:

25 stories total

8 sci-fi/fantasy
3 Erotic Couplings
3 Audio
2 Lesbian
2 Romance
1 First Time
1 Loving Wives
1 Non-erotic
1 Toys and Masturbation
1 Incest/Taboo
1 Novels and Novellas
1 Celebrities and Fan Fiction

Having never done this event before, I was expecting them to be overwhelmingly SFF. I'm surprised at the diversity in categories. Although not too surprised, since mine is one of the non-SFF stories (EC).

An interesting range of tales this year.

I count twenty five stories (one a chapter in a longer work) in multiple categories, predictably sci-fi the dominant:

8 sci-fi, 3 erotic couplings, 3 audio(!), 2 lesbian, 2 romance, one each of First time, LW, celebrities, non-erotic, incest, masturbation, and novels/novellas.

Major verbiage applied to the theme of Geek Pride...

Ha! Sorry Vermillion, you beat me to it. Your post hadn't appeared before I submitted my total, so I duplicate (our curiosity in the same corner, apparently...)

Now someone with greater capacity than I can total up the words expended on this endeavor...

Wow that is a range. I know I put mine in First Time because it was, but it could equally have been in SF. Tentacles! But it’s going okay in First Time so that’s good.

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves writing for it. 🤗 and thankyou!

I'd never miss it for the world.

So glad I prescribed myself two weeks of not writing. I'll have the time to read all the stories.

...and here come the 1-bombs. 4.91 -> 4.71 in three votes. Thanks, assholes. Of course no comment.

@MisterWildCard, my wife loves your story. Exactly the stuff she's into.

Glad to hear it, thank you, and tell her thank you from me as well if you please!

You can also let her know I'm already thinking about a sequel. :)

My plan is to read yours tonight, after the kid goes to sleep.

Same here x2 - I'm gonna dive into yours once things have calmed down around here and I'm also spitballing ideas for a sequel.

THis was fun

Thanks for having me for the first challenge. I put on my try-hard pants, wrote the longest story I have ever written to date (10k words) and my score is hovering around 4.75, which I have never seen before either.

Great success!

I see the value in slowing down to write, taking the time to build characters, and now I simply need an editor to make sure it all comes together. I didn't anticipate the comments, though, and I was picked apart for having wrong details. I should have expected that from a theme with "Geek" in it.

This was fun.
