That's New - a follower alert here in the Forum

First time I've seen this: a new follower alert, here in the Forum.

I'm used to seeing new followers on my CP, but this is the first time I've had an alert here.

Anyone else seen this?

Yeah, they can follow your posts here and separately follow you on the story side. I guess it's designed to let you follow the amateur pics posters.

Not sure why anyone would follow you, EB. But then, I haven't seen what you post out in the wilds.

Are the followers common to both Stories and the Forum/Boards? In the past the two parts of Lit seemed to operate independently

I'll answer my own question. The followers are divided into two heaps. I've now idea where to find the Story followers - following yes, but not followers

Same place. On your Authors Page it shows "Following" in the sidebar, when you click it gives you both lists.

I'm confused. When I click on "Following" I get the options for clicking on the list of those that I have followed and those that have followed me. I don't see two types of follower lists.

I've seen what EB described at the top of the list a few times, not many, but didn't really think about it, and I don't know what it means or how one checks this data. I am definitely NOT getting notifications here at the forum everytime I get a new story follower.

I believe there are two types of followers, people on the 'story' side who follow your writing output (getting notifications when you have a new gem out, etc.), and followers on the Forum side who track your posting wit and AH musings. If you click on your avatar and then 'about' you'll see who is following you on the forum side. I think you got a notification for a new forum follower, not the same as a 'story' follower.

You're right. Digging down, there's a Forum followers list (which I never knew about and, unless you follow yowser's instructions, it's not easy to find); and your Story Followers - for whom you get notifications when they follow (and I've now spotted that list, thanks to Melissa).

Question - because some of you, unbeknownst to me (and possibly, unbeknownst to yourselves), are on my Forum followers list - do any of you get notifications whenever I post anything here?

That's why this is all new to me - I don't follow anyone in Forum Land, and I don't subscribe to any threads; so unless I actively go to a thread (or someone replies to a post), I remain in blissful ignorance of activity. I won't change a thing about that!

I honestly do not pay attention.

If someone follows me, that's awesome.

If someone doesn't follow me, that's their loss.

I've gotten notifications so and so is following me, but I've never looked at trying to follow any one myself.
This is lit trying to be more like social media, and make it so people can get an alert anytime you post.

I think the person above who said this is a lot more beneficial to the pic and perv type posting threads than here is right. Again, "content posters" are the ones who gain most followers on social media platforms. Know idea why anyone would want to follow my posts, I don't consider myself all that interesting.
