Hi, I'm currently writing a cuck story I'm hoping to turn into a series. I'm thinking ahead about where I post it when I'm finished. Loving wives seems to be the correct place for it but from what I've read on the forum the cuck series always gets low ratings in that section. Does anyone have any insight into this?

It is what it is. Cuckolding stories will get hammered in LW, and elsewhere if they're discovered. If outside of LW, I'd suggest not using "cuckold" or "cuckolding" as a tag to make it less easy for the miscreants to ding your ratings.

Also be aware if cuckolding is the major theme, site managers will move it to LW if you put it somewhere else.

It depends on what you care about. If you want to maximize the number of readers, and readers who like your story, then post it in Loving Wives. Your story may be savaged in the ratings, but you'll probably get the most views, votes, and favorites that way. If you care about maximizing your rating, then consider Fetish or some other category that overlaps with whatever kinks are in the story.

Was just thinking about asking the same question. Based on other comments I've read about LW, I'm not sure I want to go there. Since the secondary theme is feminization and sissification, I think I'm going to go with T/CD - with a strong caveat in my forward. :)

Thoughts?

If you want to write a cuckold story and a good score is important to you, just make sure that the 'bitch' gets it in the end. You will make lots of friends.

It simply depends on what you mean when you say "cuck story".

LW is about extramarital FUN. So, simply put, if you want to write about HAPPY couples having FUN swinging, or something along those lines, the story can actually fare pretty well in LW. If your cuck story is about humiliation of the cuck, that'll be Fetish. Same for feminization and sissification, since those are not regarded "fun" by the readership, so maybe Transgender/Crossdressing would fit those. If you want to write about a reluctant/unwilling cuckold being tied up and made to submit, that'll be either Non Consent/Reluctance or BDSM, depending on the means with which your cuck is being made to submit.

In short: Yes, there are trolls and less than friendly people in the LW comment section, but that applies to ALL of Literotica. The trick is to simply pick the right category based on what your story is actually about.

If that's the company you want to keep. I'd rather be alone at that point

Loving wives is technically the right place but there's a nasty anti cuck faction there so you'll take a beatdown in score and comments

But you can put it in fetish which others have started doing. Less attention, but better score and comments.

The difference is men who don't suffer from cold male insecurity or hatred for the female gender can be found there.

But as someone said, if you use cuck in the tags-and you should-sometimes the turds roll out of the catbox and find you.

But do it anyway because a group of losers shouldn't be able to dictate what authors do or control categories and tags.

Thanks all for your help. I think I'll just post it in LW. It's not about the rating but obviously rating can impact readership, and part of writing is to share with as many people as possible and hopefully they'll like it.

Ratings don't matter. Only 0.2%-5% (if you're lucky) even rate any given story, out of the people who clicked on it. Mostly less than 1%.

Negative comments there might get to your head, though.

This isn't true if you use BDSM and have significant BDSM elements.

I feel like if there are LW readers who look at ratings to decide what to read, they're already calibrated around how the stories are generally rated in that category.

I don't read or write for that category but just based on what I've picked up around the AH, nothing does "well" ratings wise there (compared to some other categories) because the LW audience is made up of different groups of people with diametrically opposed tastes. Please one group and the other will ding you, please the other group and the one will ding you.

All LW readers must be used to this, and, if they do use ratings to decide what to read, seeing a LW rating which is much lower than in a more generously rated category won't put them off.

As soon as you used the term "cuck" to describe your story, I'd suspect that it's probably more of a spousal abuse story.
Loving Wives is supposed to be about "Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more." But as a regular reader of that category, I'm finding authors who stick shit in there about inter-racial breeding, humiliation, and generally about spousal abuse. And when I accidentally read one of those types of stories trolling for a negative reaction, .... well, I'll give the author what they wanted.

Almost half of the readers there don't want any extra-marital FUN, and they're looking for Burn The Bitch stories of a cheating spouse being discovered and the cheater getting burned. They're looking for the "loving" marriage, and what they consider justice when one of the couple strays without the other's knowledge.

So, as OverconfidentSarcasm described above, the correct category depends on the overarching theme of the story and why/what you describe as "cuck". Is it about a loving marriage and consensual sharing/swinging? Is it about a loving marriage in which one strays? Or is it about spousal abuse?

In my opinion, if the story is about humiliating and abusing the spouse while married merely for the MC's own pleasure, then it's a fetish story about sexual slavery and there is no "loving" marriage. If you post that kind of story to LW, then please don't come here in the AH declaring how bad those misogynistic trolls are, because IMO YOU would be the troll.

Agreed with LS and OverconfidentSarcasm. If it’s a classic hotwife/sharing story, I.e. everyone involved is onboard, it can do fine in LW. If it has a significant chunk of humiliation, denial, cruelty (even playfully), it belongs in Fetish.

Put another way, if you flipped the script and had it be a cuckquean story, would the behaviors toward the wife be something that would make you classify it in Fetish? That’ll give you a sense, hopefully.

And, to be clear, I’ve followed that rule myself. I have a cuckquean story that definitely belonged in Fetish for just those reasons, and one coming up that I’ll put in LW because it’s not “mean.”

I think it’s a thing that’s true across the site but most harshly punished in LW: authors sometimes don’t realize how extreme a story is to the general reader when it’s the author’s kink. If in doubt, ask for a volunteer who wouldn’t normally be into it to check it out

I've been criticized about several of my stories in LW, with readers slamming them as "wrong category!"

The two "Break the Bitch, ... " stories are BTB (obviously), but I considered them as the "loving" marriage falling apart when the husband found late in life that his wife cheated on him even before the wedding and that their kids weren't his. The story includes a lot of BDSM, but he's enlisting the consensual assistance of women who LIKE that type of treatment, and the whole focus of it is to burn the ONE and only woman he now hates, his ex-wife.

Even though I intended this to be a "loving" marriage gone wrong and with the husband unknowingly being cucked by his wife then getting revenge (classic BTB scenario), I got reactions such as this comment:

1 star - just another cuck/slut crap story.

It gets a well deserved one-star rating.

I think you would get a better response if you put this in the bdsm or fetish categories.

The trolls and anons will probably find you wherever you are.
