About an hour ago as I sat here typing and chatting to people I heard a horrifc bang/crash outside the front of my home.
I ran outside to see one vehicle (a van) with window (front) smashed but no-one in it.'I looked further and there was the remains of a motorcycle all over the road. I couldn't find the rider and the people driving the van had ran away..
I found him though, he was under the van , not conciouss, but he had a pulse, Ang had called 911 already, I couldn't get him out..I kept talking, Im not sure if he could hear me or not.
The emergency crews came and they were finnally able to get the van off the man but by this time he was dead.
I just needed to say how i felt, i tried to talk to him, tried to do something but it wasn't really anywhere near enough.
I feel kinda numb..and cold.

It's almost unfair to have this thrust upon you. You did good. Everyone needs someone - even a stranger - when their moment comes :rose:

Thats what kept going through my mind, that he was alone and prob not going to make it, I held his hand the whole time. Now all i can see is them covering him, his face, like its on replay, stuck.

You can tell his survivors that he did not die alone and that he felt no pain. That is a good thing and they would not have it but for you. :rose:

Yes.

It is good that you were there for him.

Sometimes my friend, God/the Universe puts the right person for the job in the right place at the right time...

Other's might have just turned away...other's might have stood there powerless and frozen...

You reached out and touched him...gave him comfort in his final moments...and even creating this thread and sharing it...you proved that he wouldn't be forgotten even in death...

I don't agree as someone said that it is almost "unfair" that it happened to you...Fact is my old friend, the right person to give aid and comfort to him in those moments had the job given to him...and accepted his responsibilities with great compassion and great courage.

It aint easy...I've been in that situatuation many times...I spent 10 weeks doing hospital chapliancy training in a Kansas City Hospital during seminary...so I know what it's like...And because of that training I was able to be there for my own father...

Good job buddy...

I know we're already pmming this morning...but you might experience some ptsd later on....maybe even tonight or down the road...If you need to talk you know how to reach me..Sometimes the flashbacks are worse than the actual...

A friend of mine had a similar experience, Joey. A man and a woman on a motorcycle. The female passenger was already deceased when she stumbled upon them while taking out her trash early in the morning. She stayed and talked with the man the whole time while waiting for the EMTs. He pulled through and got in cantact with her, he told her that her voice made all the difference in the world.

You did a good thing, a brave thing...we're here for you should you need anything. :rose:  :rose:

God...Joey...:rose:

Roxanne said it truly...I agree. You did what you were put there to do for that young man...and what you have to give his family about his passing over is a gift beyond compare.

I hope you talk more as time passes about this situation...it's the kind of thing that leaves one changed forever.

:( Oh, Damn, Joey. You did what you could. Hang in there :rose:

Did they get the drivers of the van?

I remember quite clearly thinking to myself just as they put the sheet over his body, his head..I thought, fuck, he's somebodies son, brother, father someones best friend and i felt an incredible hurt for the family and what they would soon be hearing and having to deal with.
Not sure how it will change me..

I'm sorry you have to go through that. :rose:

I hugged my youngest extra hard this morning and thanked God that my eldest, he's 12 was at a sleepover away from here last night. I wouldn't have wanted him to be witness to any of what happened.

The last i heard they were still on the run, but man one of them had to have been pretty badly hurt, the windshield was trashed, from both directions..The police , with dogs and a helicopter have been around the area all night.
