The majority of readers on lit are not interested in reading someone's story. They only want someone else to recite the personal fantasy that they themselves are too lazy to write. If your story doesn't recite this fantasy back to them and/or fucks up one of the details, the reaction will be negative.

I'm sure there have been discussions/complaints about people hating on genres they don't like.

I'll be honest, I have to fight the urge myself. I'm active on the Story Ideas forum and there are posts there that I find distasteful. It's all I can do to backspace away from it without expressing that distaste. I know it's wrong to kink shame or step on someone's creativity, but the urge is strong sometimes.
