That Pipeline

With the protesting crew that had assembled and stood when Obama finally backed down, it was looking pretty dicey for local law enforcement (State & local) to withstand by themselves the utter ugly the situation could've become without the federal law enforcement help what'shername declined to render.

With the full backing of federal law enforcement now, and especially with the change of attitude in the Oval Office from social change organizer to fuck this socialist shit in the ass, the statist force position against protestors is going to be massive. The reinvigorated protest will reconvene also more stout than it was, and - like I said - it was pretty stout and serious when Obama went chickenshit.

I do not doubt the Trump federal government will use bulldozers if they need to mow the protestors out of the way, and I don't doubt the protestors will start taking the feds and locals out as soon as they think that's all they can do to resist.

It seems to me one of the most shared feelings in American today - no matter all the division itself - is that something's going to finally happen, some spark is finally going to go off that's going to ignite something all of us might regret...

On January 24, 2017, I began a piece titled, Will Cannon Ball Blow Up America?

All I know is if you go to war you really have no other choice but to go all in to win, and that can only mean total surrender or total annihilation; anything less than that attitude - as America's absolute recent "war" record proves - is simply a guarantee to make things even worse. Go all the way, or don't go at all.

It's going to be interesting how Gens. Kelly and Mattis and Lt. Gen. Flynn advise...

Jesus fingChrist: that thought just made me automatically start recalling the war staffs of the Union and the States.

Fuck.

Where the hell is Mighty Mouse when you really, really need him.

Isn't terrorism on American soil (other than the virulent threat of white supremacists) an insignificant concern -according to liberals?

How is a buried pipeline a better target than a rail car terminal?
Because it fucks up the water supply.

How ignorant can you possibly be?

"Water Protectors" face Dakota Access Pipeline evacuation deadline

...More than 230 truckloads of debris have been hauled out as of Monday...

...said Tiffanie Pieper, of San Diego, who has been in the camp most of the winter...

...floodwaters could wash tons of trash and debris at the encampment into the nearby rivers.

"One of the biggest environmental threats to the Missouri is the camp itself," Burgum said...

...protesters who call themselves "water protectors..."

Keystone XL? I'm a YES!

Otherwise, we'll be forced to sell our excess capacity to the Chinese. I'm a firm believer in supporting our Friends, first.

Oil production/sales is fungible...

But hell yes on the pipeline. The halt was Buffet's work. He knew he could sway the administration and he invested heavily in rail and made a killing, but pipelines are better for the environment than rail, most of it rolling over the same damned land...

;) ;)

... with nary a boo, let alone a hoo.

The Three Ironies of The Dakota Pipeline Access Pipeline Protests

Priceless !
You can't make this stuff up.

...One of the few economic bright spots for the tribes was the construction of two casinos. Government and tribal enterprises, which include the casinos, account for 59% of the jobs and 88% of the income on the reservation.

Revenue declines at Standing Rock Sioux casino
The Associated Press

BISMARCK, N.D.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is facing a budget shortfall of nearly $6 million due to declining revenue at its casino.

Tribal leaders say a slowing economy and a snowy winter contributed to losses at the Prairie Knights Casino. Also, the closure of the casino’s main access road due to the oil pipeline protest hurt the facility’s bottom line.

“It’s like it’s fallen off a cliff,” said tribal financial officer Jerome Long Bottom. “When the bridge was shut off, the numbers just plummeted.”

Canada Says No Big Hurdles Remain For Keystone XL Approval

by Andrew Mayeda and Josh Wingrove

➞ Talks on TransCanada’s crude pipline going well: ambassador

➞ Outlook for American approval very positive, MacNaughton says

(Bloomberg)...TransCanada Corp.’s Keystone XL pipeline doesn’t face any major remaining hurdles to U.S. approval, Canada’s ambassador to Washington said.

Discussions on TransCanada’s crude-oil route are going “extremely well” with U.S. federal authorities, Ambassador David MacNaughton said Friday in an interview at his office. “I don’t see any big hurdles in the way of Keystone from the administration’s point of view,” he said, referring to the government of President Donald Trump.

While the state of Nebraska may still have some issues, the outlook for the pipeline’s approval looks “very positive,” MacNaughton said.

Approval would end years of uncertainty over the project, which sparked protests from environmentalists and created tension between the U.S. and Canada. The route would carry crude from Canada’s oil sands to Gulf Coast refineries...

Yup, pipelines are the least invasive of the hydrocarbon transmission species...

But the fucking Prius-lovers lump us moderate folk in with the 2-ton diesel pickup crew.

Imperialism, cultural and otherwise, can come from Left Field as well as Right... and is often way more sanctimonious...

Prius cars should come with a photo of the mine that most of the neodymium in the motor magnets came from.

No reason Canada can't be damn near energy self sufficient. Why should we sell and ship oil down south let the Yanks add value and then buy it back? We need an East/West pipeline and Canadian refineries. Sarnia's chemical valley industries took a huge hit when a supplying pipeline needed replacement. Good jobs lost. And we need to diversify. Sell oil and NG to the Chinese and Europeans. Nice to have a huge customer just south of us but we rely too much on America. Their economy goes for a shit so does ours. Diversifying would give us a bit more of a cushion against fluctuations in the American economy.

You're paying too much attention to Harper:D

I can't believe that American natives would allow anyone to disturb their burial sites and stuff. You folk must really have them cowed. IMO our natives are far more militant than yours are these days. Piss off our natives beyond a certain point and you have disturbances from one end of the country to another with roadblocks and rail blockages. Guys walking around with guns too. Although that seems quite ordinary to you lot.

Native American Indians need to get a bit more coordinated and a tad more militant if they want the 'long knives' to stay off their land.

If I say, "No, you can't build that highway across this Indian burial ground!" it would not be a reasonable response to say, "Why not? We build them across everything else."

The colossal and blatant factual inaccuracy of the claim is sufficient in itself to ignore the post.

It may be the biggest whopper I've seen in a while.

Appeals Court Refuses To Stop Oil in Dakota Access Pipeline

18 May 2017

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — An appeals court on Saturday refused a request from two American Indian tribes for an "emergency" order that would prevent oil from flowing through Dakota Access pipeline.

The decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit means the $3.8 billion pipeline to move North Dakota oil to a distribution point in Illinois could be operating as early as Monday, even as the tribes' lawsuit challenging the project moves forward. The Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Sioux tribes have challenged an earlier ruling by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg not to stop final construction of the pipeline, and they wanted the appeals court to halt any oil flow until that's resolved.

The appeals court said the tribes hadn't met "the stringent requirements" for such an order.

The tribes had asked Boasberg to direct the Army Corps of Engineers to withdraw permission for Dallas-based developer Energy Transfer Partners to lay pipe under Lake Oahe in North Dakota, which the Corps manages for the U.S. government. The stretch under the Missouri River reservoir is the last piece of construction for the pipeline. The company is wrapping up pipe work under the lake and has said oil could start flowing between Monday and Wednesday.

The tribes fear the pipeline could harm their water supply and their right to practice their religion, which relies on clean water. ETP disputes that.

The tribes' appeal rests on the religion argument. Boasberg has said he doesn't think the tribes have a strong case on appeal. He also said ETP would be "substantially harmed" by a delay in pipeline operations.
