I was driving home from work when I heard the one song that just sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it. I don't know what it is about that song but it always makes me feel good. It's Ain't no Mountain High Enough and not just anyone's version but the Marvin Gay and Tammy Terrell version.
Does anyone else have a song that just makes them feel good whenever they hear it, sung by the original artists of course.

Hi Tiggs, I think Lee Greenwood sang "Proud to be an American". My current favorite is "Time of Your Life(Good Riddance)" by Green Day.

"When you put your arms around me, you give me fever that's so hard to bear..."

I always liked 'Fever' - sung by Elvis, Peggy Lee or the Littlest Rebel. Oh, yeah... and ANY recording of 'Walk On By'. (The Stranglers did a cool version that sounds like The Doors on amphetamine sulphate.)

OMG..

This thread could not have come at a better time. I discovered "that special song" TODAY. It moves me like no song I've ever heard in my life.. We started learning it in choir, and when the prof read the words out loud I almost lost it. I can't sing or listen to it without a lump in my throat. It's called sing me to heaven:

In my heart's sequestered chambers lies truth stripped of poet's gloss
Words alone are vain and vacant, and my heart is mute
In response to aching silence, memories summon half-heard voices,
And my soul finds primal eloquence and wraps me in song, wraps me in song

If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby;
If you would woo my heart, sing me a love song;
If you would mourn me and bring me to God, sing me a requiem,
Sing me to Heaven

Touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure
Touch in me all dreams and comfort, love and passion, pain and pleasure
Sing me a lullaby, a love song, a requiem
Love me, comfort me, bring me to God
Sing me a love song
Sing me to Heaven

I have to agree with Tiggs on this one, Proud to be an American. Makes me shiver everytime I hear it. It is just one of those songs that really makes you think.

<holding a gun to my head to just pick one>
"Round of Blues" by Shawn Colvin. It is just such a pleasant surprise to hear on the radio or anywhere else for that matter.

Anything by Meatloaf its his voice more than his words they make me shiver!!

I didn't really used to listen to the words to songs, I love the music and the words are just a bonus to me, and the fact that when you listen to Metal and Death Metal you can't understand half the words anyway LOL.

Someone passed a song on to me just recently and when I sit and listen to it, like I am now, I think of him and it makes me feel so happy, and reminds me of all the reasons that I love him.

It is Breathe by Faith Hill. Something that I never thought I would ever get into, but the song says so much. Everytime I listen to it I get shivers, as you mentioned *Eve*.

I also have to say that I have two Pantera songs that do the same thing, they mean something special to me, and I think that is why they send shivers down my spine. They are,

Hollow and Cemetary Gates. I listen to these when I'm alone and feel I need to be close to my friend, who lives so far away from me now. You see we grew so close before she left and these were the songs that we used to listen to together.

Songs have so many diffrent meanings and mean so many diffrent things to diffrent people. Music is just so powerful and I don't think alot of people realize just how powerful it is at times. When you are in a relationship and you have that "special song" after you break up you either listen to it until you hate it, or you can never listen to that song again, you hear it in the car and have to turn the Radio off. It's still amazes me what power music has over us all. I love the song For crying out loud by Meatloaf, because of the words alone and what they mean and say. My friend actually had it as her wedding song, so you see Music is universal and loved by so many.

*Eve* brilliant question thanks for that :)

"Whats going on" by Marvin Gaye. It has to be the song to dance with a girl to, chicks dig it.

Ring of Fire, by Johnny Cash. Also Flowers on the Wall by the Statler Brothers.

Kristin Banks' "Midnight Lady".

Off topic, I can't stand songs where the author uses poor grammar to make things rhyme or flow. Kind of eliminates the entire blues genre for me.

Good Thing by Patty Larkin

It reminds me that all the crap we go through in life is for a reason and there IS someone out there for all of us. I am glad I found mine. . . finally.

Nope.. no shiver song.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :cool: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It never has to make sense.
One song reminds me of my gramps he always used to sing it to me and I to him. "On the Street Where You Live" "Fever" is another one that melts me reminds me of how much I wanted to be a torch singer. My current favorite is Kryptonite I feel like I lived that song most of my life.
That one from "Top Gun"... the one that comes on when Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis finally get it on...
What's it called??? Damn, I can't think right now!!!
I'm usually scared to post on the general board, so you all should be proud of me :)
mine has to be fire by babyface w/des'ree
You're ridin' in my car,
I turn on the radio,
I'm pullin you closer,
But you keep tellin me no,
You say you don't like that,
But i know that you're a liar,
'Cause when we kiss....ooooo, fire
Late at night,
You're taking me home,
You say you want to stay,
But i want you to go,
I say i don't love you,
But you know I'm a liar,
'Cause when we kiss....ooooo, fire
You had a hold on me,
Right from the start,
A grip so tight,
I couldn't tear it apart,
My nerves all jumpin,
Acting like a fool,
Your kisses might burn,
But my heart stays cool
Well Romeo and Juliet,
Samson and Delilah,
Baby you can bet,
They were burning with desire,
If i say split,
Then you konw that i'd be liar,
'Cause when we kiss....ooooo, fire
When we kiss,
I'm on fire,
You're tenderness
Gives me desire,
I can't resist,
You're tender lips,
When we kiss....ooooo, fire
Download it...it's really a good song.
I know what you mean, SR. Trying to sleep while one's brain is in search mode will make a person crazy.
Welcome stranger(skitch)
Post more often....
That song was originally done by Bruce Springsteen...but the best rendition I heard was the one by Elmer Fudd....No joke....a local radio station played it all the time....hilarious...
I have two..."One in a Million" (it's not a racist song...context damnit context!)..and
"Tears of a Dragon" by Bruce Dickinson....
Springsteins is best Thumper...no question. I too cannot get the Elmer Fudd version out of my head when I hear it. Mine is based on Robin Williams doing Elmer with the quavering stacato.......and when we kiss ooooooooooooo Fie-Wuh!
