The U.S. version of Thanksgiving will be Thursday. What are you doing to celebrate, and what are you thankful for?

I'll be spending the day with my family, including my parents, and brother, sister and their families.

I'm thankful I have family to be with, that we get along (most of the time)and love each other.

I'm thankful that I have a good job, a good home, and "enough" in my life to be able to share with others.

I'm thankful that I'm healthy and safe.

I'm thankful that I live in a country where we can have disagreements in our government, and still rely on the "system" instead of the military to solve our differences. I hope both the Bush and Gore families have a wonderful Thanksgiving- on that day it doesn't matter who is the winner or loser.

I'm thankful for my friends. Both in RL and online. I'm thankful they forgive me when I'm obnoxious or just nutty, and I'm thankful they give me a second chance. More than once. And if they don't, I'm thankful they've been in my life if even for only a little while.

I'm thankful for my pc and this connection to the world- I'd never know any of you without it.

I am staying home with my honey and the kids and cooking ham, turkey and all the fixins'.

I am thankful to have my family and friends to support me.

I am thankful to have found this site, y'all are great, glad to be here.

We will be playing games with the kids during the day and will probably go see The Grinch after dinner.

On our way home we are going to pick out our Christmas tree so it will have several days to settle and open up before we decorate it. My livingroom has cathedral ceilings so I get a 10-12 foot tree.

We will be spending the day the family and friends.

I am thankful my mother is still with us, last year we weren't sure she would be.

I am thankful for Lit, there are a few people here that have made dealing with some RL issues a lot easier.

I am thankful child #1 is over her pneumonia, but even more thankful child #2 didn't get it.

Oyster, Sausage or whatever

I'll be working.

Somebody save me some left overs or send me a care package.

I am REALLY partial to stuffing.

Will do sweetie, I make an awsome southern stuffing, but sorry you can only taste it, it is a secret family receipe.

Thanks Cheyenne, great thread.

I'm spending Thanksgiving with my parents and brothers.

I'm thankful for SO many things.

I'm thankful that my father is here for another Thanksgiving.

Thankful that I have so many wonderful friends to turn to when the tears come. That includes the friends I've made here... I don't think some of you know exactly how much you mean to me.

I can't even list all the things I'm thankful for, I'd be here all day!

(I'm also thankful that my brothers have stopped beating the shit out of me LOL)

Oh oh oh!

And mashed potatoes. Cold turkey, stuffing and refried mashed potatoes is one of my favorite meals. I have such simple tastes at times.

Damn. I'm starving

I think you appeal to every instinct that each of us has ;) I know you do mine :D

I'll be picking up the TV dinner later this afternoon.
Mmmmmmm. Nothing says Thanksgiving like football and Hungry Man.

Okay, I know you guys are just joking. But it breaks my heart to think that there ARE people out there who have no family and are alone not by choice on the holiday. Yes, I'm a sentimental fool.

Especially to those who will really be having that TV dinner this year, watching football while all alone, Happy Thanksgiving to you!

This year Thanksgiving is going to be small. Older sis and her 4 kids will be in KY, younger sis and her two boys in Nashville and so it will be me, my son, my brother, his preggie wife and Mom & Dad. Not a bad turn out but I like the holidays BIG! The house full of laughter and kids screaming and chasing one another, everyone helping in the kitchen as the food is prepared, sneaking pieces of turkey and getting caught... playing music on the stereo and building a nice big fire.

1. I'm thankful for my son
2. For my loving parents and their continued health
3. For my best friend
4. For the ability to make Christmas magical one more year for my son (since I've convinced him that Santa DOES exist)
5. For my health and my (mostly) easygoing nature
6. For my job
7. For chocolate. hehe

PLEASE tell me you were joking. Weren't you? I can see it now- adding a few extra plates to the table for all the people from Lit I'll have to bring home with me.

Thanks for the invite, love. I actually have places I could go, but circumstances dictate otherwise. It's just one of those years.

Then enjoy your Thanksgiving, Nitelight. I'll save a piece of pie for you. I bake a mean pumpkin pie, you know.

I guess I'm one of those that has family in another part of the country and will not be with them for the Holidays. However, I won't be alone.
I use this time to help at the local shelter for abused women and children. My day will be very hectic. The children will be told the story of the first Thanksgiving while the adults are preparing for the feast. The kitchen will be very hot and the confusion will be terrible. It will all come together when the meal is served, grace is said, and that funny silence overcomes the dinning room as each thinks of what they are thankful for.
I know what it is for me. I am thankful for my health and my education, and the ability to contribute a little of my time and ability to those that have been less fortunate. When you say your prayer before dinner, please ask God to watch over those that are not able to stand alone right now and make them stronger.
OH, and say a little something for me too......I'm the one that helps the kids put the whipped cream on the pies. I won't wear anything that can't be laundered at home.

May God bless you all, and Happy Thanksgiving. Vi

I will be volunteering at our city's dinner for the homeless. This will be the 10th year I've done this. I have made a lot of great friends there and look forward to seeing them again this year. In the evening I will get together with all of my friends and we will have a small Thanksgiving dinner together, then we usually just bum out and watch a video. I know it doesn't sound very exciting, but I couldn't imagine spending my day any other way.

I am thankful for all of my friends, including the ones I have made here at Lit.

Husband, son, and I are having dinner at my sister B.J.'s house (and no BJ doesn't stand for what you guys think it does--although she does own a football-style sweatshirt with the joke team-player number 69 on it), along with her two kids. Another sister will also be there, with her husband and daughter. Dad (age 90) won't be there, he'll be at my brother's house. My other two sisters don't live nearby so won't be there, either.

Grateful for:

1. Son being here, he goes back to school Tuesday.
2. Son's special school for learning-disabled kids,
which raised his grade average from F last year
in public schools, to a C now at this school.
3. Having the love of a good man.
4. A good job.
5. Good health.

(Not necessarily in that order)

The fantasy goddess and I are cooking Thangiving dinner and inviting the two boys I mentor over. They are really excited about coming to our house for dinner as they have never met each other.

I'm thankful for my wife. She is truly all I will ever want. I'm thankful for living in a country that allows me the freedom to be whatever I want to be. I am thankful for the many friends I have met here and wish I could invite EVERY one of you over for dinner. Finally, I'm thankful for being alive. It sounds corny, but I am truly happy in my own life.

Hope each of you has a special Thanksgiving Day.

I'm thankful for my family who love me even when I am a complete jerk.
I'm thankful for good friends.
I'm thankful for great parents who gave me excellent models by which to live.
I'm thankful for peace and freedom in my country
I'm pleased that I don't have to cook this year.

-and now a completely selfish and superficial wish...
I'd be really thankful if the Cowboys win on Thanksgiving day.

Just me and the kitty cat for Thanksgiving. Don't know what's on the menu other than football! The rest of the family goes to their in-laws and we'll get together on Saturday.

ok, we're hosting AGAIN! and i wouldn't have it any other way :) we're going to have a LOT of people over,... but we get help and it's always fun,... last year was my first year away from home for thanksgiving, and i won't do it again! my grandpa will be undergoing a small procedure that will keep him in the hospital for thanksgiving, so we'll be delivering,... but even though he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer the doctors are very optimistic,... so i'm thankful for that! as for other things i'm thankful for,...

life
love
family
friends
living in a prosperous nation
in a prosperous time
in a prosperous area
free public bathrooms, water, matches, libraries, etc.
loving my own cooking
my new-found emotional stability
pie

ok ok i digress,... anyhow, this will be great like every other thanksgiving i've ever had. and i WILL enjoy it for everyone who can't,... (since that's all i can do this year,...)
have fun all!
