What are you having for your Thanksgiving Dinner? What is your traditional meal. Or What is the most unusual meal you had on Thanksgiving. My most Unusual meal was Having Thanksgiving day dinner at The Sizzler.

The Sizzler!

Kgboot....sweets...

You need to come on over to my place for a real tradtional Thanksgiving dinner. Nice golden brown turkey....so moist, and with all the trimmings!;)
I make a delicious green bean casserole. We don't do anything too exciting on Thanksgiving day. Everyone is getting together over at my place for good food & spirits (wine in my case) and a lazy day of watching football.

Dinner is at 5pm....please R.S.V.P:)

Being British, I've only had Thanksgiving once, and that was on the River in Nashville.
Two things were a surprise.
With the main course there was a plate of dark red disk shaped slices which all we Brits assumed were slices of Beetroot, so we collected two or three each from the buffet.
They were slices of cranberry jelly!
Pumpkin Pie tastes exactly like a long forgotten instant dessert which was called "Instant Whip" over here.
There is bound to be someone on here who likes the idea of Pumpkin Pie and an instant whip!

Don't even bother putting that in the mail

That would be a waste of a good stamp. Yes, the dinner as Sizzler was a forgettable experience to say the least. What made matters worse was that they didn't get our meals right. lol

Dinner is at 5 huh? Can I come over the previous night?? That way I'll be sure to be there on time. *wink* What shall I bring? What type and brand of wine do you like? Yes, count me in for that invitation. Thanksgiving with SummerRose! Happy Thanksgiving indeed!

Since I'm in solitary mode, I usually go out for whatever I'm craving. Thanksgiving mexican food and thanksgiving Coronas sounds pretty good.

Ok Kgboot, I'm setting aside the stamp. We can talk in PM later about you staying the night before!

As far as what you should bring....whip cream of course (for the pies silly, the pumkin and apple cobbler ones!)
I will let you choose the wine...I prefer something sweet. Let's see what kind of taste you have!

Maybe we should have an open invitation for everyone to join in our Thanksgiving festivites....would be lots of fun.:)

Whip Cream for the pies eh? Hmmm?

I can't say that the whip cream will make it to all of the pies. I rather enjoy it myself. Maybe I should buy a few containers.

You are leaving the wine to me huh? We'll see what I can do. I like things that are sweet. So the wine will have to be sweet. Methinks I may need to bring my toothbrush. All these sweets may give me cavities.

Hmmm?? An open invite! Sounds good to me SummerRose!! Care to make the open invite??

btw- yes I'll get back to you on the PM

LMAO:D Somehow Kgboot has turned my tradtional Thanksgiving into somekind of Thanksgiving orgy!

But by all means, everyone is welcome. (Kgbootie, better make sure you bring enough whip cream to go around!)

*you have a PM*

Who am I to break Thanksgiving Tradition??

Sorry guys, Gotta get your own whip cream. Methinks this is a Thanksgiving Dinner is going to become a private affair. I can't break up her Tradition. Nope! I'm sorry.

I'm so lost. This is terrible!! I have no idea of what I am doing now. Maybe I'll have it fixed by Wedenesday. I'll make it to dinner yet. ;)

*stepping into the thread*

Howdy.

Only here for a minute, before I go back to sleepie pooh. Been up watching the meteor shower since 4:40 am EST.

Turkey Day dinner.

Golden Brown Turkey
Dressing
Mashed Potatos
Corn
Green Bean Casserole
Fresh Rolls
Candied Yams (not bad but not a favorite of mine)
Cranberry Sauce (ewwwww!!!)
more but I can't think of it........

Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie
both with whipped cream or Ice Cream

watch football and be lazy............and maybe later that night some sweaty sex. (Depends on if my g/f thinks she can keep quiet a bit, so as to not wake the parental units (whom are staying at my house))

:p :D

Howdy Chuckus!! How ya' doin?

Can SummerRose and I come over after we've had our private dinner. We'll bring some pie with whip cream and some wine. Good to see you my friend.

Sure you can come over. Anytime. Bring lots of Whipped Cream though, I am a HUGE whipped cream fan!!!!

and yes it is nice to see you to kgboot. I am going back to bed with my flu infested self.............woke up just to watch the meteor shower and lo and behold I posted on the BB.

Now that is funny Outsider

I'll be thinking about this pic next time I am watching Sesame Street with my son.:)

Okay SummerRose this means that.....

After we finish our dinner, we stop by Chuckus' for more dessert. Please remind me to bring the whipped cream and some hot soup for my sick friend.

Then we stop by Outsider's for some big bird. lol

Outsider glad to see you again. That was hilarious!

kgboot

Outsider, you are BAD!!! But you know we love you!!! I will be having Thanksgiving with either my mom or with my fiancee's family, we aren't sure at this point. Wherever we end up, it will be a traditional dinner:

Turkey
Mashed Potatos
Gravy
Corn
Cranberry Sauce
Apple Pie
Rolls
Stuffing

Well, that entirly depends upon my father-in-law, who is, as we speak, due up from North Carolina in about 10 minutes.

If he goes to his ex-wife's family get together, then you can be sure we will br dragged along. In that case, I can count on this:

Some weird pink version of turkey. (They marinade EVERY meat in the same weird pink shit, that leaves meat CONSTINTLY pink- how the fuck do they know if it's done???)

Cold mashed potatoes that are lumpy and hard to choke down
(And that's my favorite food)

Pies that were made 4 days before hand, where the pumpkin is slightly burned, and pulled away from the crust.

Some conglomeration of corn and carrrots in which they are all mush, and likely to have been done about 2 hours before the turkey. (They have yet to figure out TIMING when making ood)

and some weird marshmello goo with red spots in it.

Now, if Father-in-law ends up getting wrapped around Princess's finger, and taking her to the best resturant in town, then me and hubby already decided to drive to GR for the day, and spend a NICE thanksgiving with my family. In that case it would be:

A nice turkey, that's white, not pink.
Ham, honey baked, just for me
Mashed Sour Cream Potatoes (my dish)
Corn
Pea's
beans
spaghetti (cause you can't eat a meal at Grandpa's without it)
Warm dinner rolls
Fresh apple, pumpkin, and cherry pie
and new this year:
A triple layer Oreo pie. (YUMMMY, that's my creation as well....)

Needless to say, I am actually hopeing Princess gets her way this year.

we all gather at my Gramma's house for Thanksgiving. her, my mom, and my aunt make everything. and it's all soooo good.

the meal itself includes (my Gramma takes requests from me and my cousin.. so we definitely get what we want)

turkey
ham
mashed potatoes
sweet potatoes
corn
field peas
cranapple salad (i have no clue what goes in this.. its really good though)
cranberry sauce
dressing (made from scratch)
macaroni and cheese
and i think there's a couple of more things, but i cant remember for the life of me what they are

and for dessert we have homemade pumpkin pie, an apple pie, and some cookies (for my nephew..he doesnt like the pies)

Thanksgiving Day.............

Having been a single Dad of two beautiful kids. Grown now. Thanksgiving was always a tradition!

This years menu:

16 LB golden brown turkey drenched in butter with stuffing. Homemade gravy. Mashed potatoes. Fresh buttermilk biscuits. Candied sweet potatoes. Corn. Tender sweet peas. Cranberry sauce. Oh, did I mention lots of sweet butter?

Fresh apple cider.

Pumpkin pie and apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream.

Any buddy hungry??????
