I followed your advice and did a google search looking for a couple of my stories. Also following your advice I did the search on a unique phrase in a couple of my stories and damned if I didn't get a hit! Its a pay site I can;t get in to. I sent them an Email but never expect to hear from them.

I strongly suggest other authors follow your advice.

Thanks again Sweetnpetite!

Hey John,

Long time. How the devil are ya?

I did the search thing and got nothing, obviously not worth stealing.

One thing I notice about your stories and SnP you have lots of H's, maybe that's a criteria they use. In which case I have absolutely no worries about having things stolen.

I also used the method as outlined by Just_John1, and have found a pay site that has posted my story.

I can live with them not seeking my permission, I can even live with them making money out of it, but what really annoys me is that they don't even credit me as the author.

maybe a silly question, but

what search engines are you all using for this?

I've tried searching specific phrases and words from my stories in google, yahoo and lycos and don't even get a hit from Lit.

how to do it

All I did was to type the first line of my story within quotation marks.
It works on both Google and Yahoo. They both came up with three hits.
They both showed the site that had had stolen the story, but funnily enough neither of them picked up Literotica!

Hey Gauche!

Been busy trying to live up to year end deadlines, most of which, I'm happy to report, I made. Now for the beginning of the year scramble to modify the stuff I jammed through at the end of the year. Its good to be back even if its only part time. Perhaps I'll get to write again now, I've been itching to do it.

I've never had a story stolen before, and I think, like Octavian, I'm not too upset with it. It would be nice, though, to be able to see the dammned thing. It's a pay site, I refuse to pay for it so I can't even see what else is on the site or in what context the story is written. I'll wait a week or two and re-run the search and see if its still there.

Octavian, its great seeing you again too, its been a REALLY long time. Hope all is well and I guess, congrats on having a story stolen? LOL.

Slave Master,

I didn't get a hit from Lit or any of the other storie sites that I know my stories are on, not sure why. I just used Google with a unique line in parens and this page popped up. On some of the other stories I searched I got other sites with other stories using the same phrase. It told me how unique the sentence was... chuckle chuckle.

Thanks Oct/JJ,

I sincerly doubt my stories would be stolen for another erotica site anyway. It's not that kind of material ;)

When I write each story I deliberately put in a line or two that is very specific; perhaps reference to something that occurs once and once alone in the story, so it would be unlikely a story thief would ever change it. None of those sentences ever register a hit.

Never thought of it before, but I checked my old (circa ‘98) stories on ASTRA and sure enough they have all been scooped up by a cluster of sites, all different fetish boutiques run by the same owner.

What I can’t understand is that none of the stories fit in with any of their fetishes. I wonder if they actually read the stories they swipe?

Around here, my work is not highly valued, -400 votes mostly, but on ASTRA my stories maintained an A+ average.

Also, I wonder if the people who pay to enter these sites (if any) know that the material in them is available in a public archive, for free?

Thankfully I am too damn cheap to pay for porn!

When those “1" voting trolls come around and deflate your score, they are also insuring that your work isn’t stolen by Porn Site Slum Lords. ;)

Guess what?

I sent a polite email to the site that had posted my story without my permission and asked them to remove it.
Guess what? They have!

“Oh,” he replied, “you mean you wanna fuck!”
