Oh, and its also nice that you have to be registered to post. Now trolls have to spend a little more time to do so. Most trolls are lazy so perhaps this will cut down on some of that.

Most trolls work at becoming unregistered, IMHO. Most are actually posting under handles you'd recognize, but sign out to harass others. Inhibiting unregistered posting may make the practice less common, but not because it's slower.

I want that missing thread option, too! I think Laurel didn't upgrade me to the Nimbus2002 version of the board. It couldn't possibly be user error as the reason why I can still see all those damn long threads, could it???

The other nice thing about no unregistereds is that even if a troll registers with a pseudo name, now we can ignore it.

Already, since the changes, the GB has greatly improved. Whenever a new name crops up and spouts something nasty ... 'ignore' ... GONE! Makes it so much nicer to recognize and avoid the hate spewers.

The thread ignore is cool, too ... anyone, who suffered through Hanns' drunken harrassment the other night, appreciates it greatly.

I figured it out! I think I threw this out as an idea before and someone said "no" but it really does seem to be the case.

If your name is mentioned in a thread by someone you have put on ignore, when you search on your own name, that thread will appear on the board. It doesn't matter if you have ever posted to it or not, just that your name is mentioned. You won't see the thread on the board itself, just in thread lists from searches.

And before someone asks (as they usually do) one of the tricks used by many of us who have been here forever is to search on your own name to find threads you've posted to in the past. I start with those and reply to people who have posted to me before checking out the rest of the "new" threads on the board. If you have old threads that are the never ending threads now, and your name is in them even once, you can't get rid of them in a search list. They still appear.

Now if you have someone on ignore you dont see the entire threads they have started. Only when they post in someone elses threads do you see that person. I have Hanns on ignore so NONE of the threads he starts show up for me. Which is SWEET!
