Thank you for the music (closed)

Charles Streak

He spent the rest of the morning recalling old songs, feeling a bit rakish he even remade some of the old folk songs, the older people seemed to enjoy this and he favored them with a smile as they listened, not sure of the original until he sang that as well. Songs that he did stay away from was the unique groups like ABBA, it was very hard to do their songs and not be crucified by their fans and he had found out the hard way that there was quite a lot of them.

She enjoyed listing to his music, his voice. It was amazing how much music she knew, guess when you write music. You hear many of the classics, she sat against the bench. Watching as pretty soon within a few hours, everyone was looking at them. Running her hand against her neck she looked over at Charles and smiled at him very happily.

He returned the smile and finished with the older songs, he settled his guitar to his side and after a few moments the crowd started to move again, he winked at her,

"How about lunch? "

He nodded at the money in his suitcase,

"My treat."

She smiled at him "Yeah sure I could go for a burger and a shake" She said simply and relaxed a bit, standing up she stretched and sighed a bit. He made well over fifty dollars, which was nice to see him making money.

Charles Streak

He got to his feet, packed his guitar into the case after scooping up a few dollars and closed the case. He bowed, extending a hand to the nearest street cafe,

"After you madame."

She watched him and smiled, and nodded. Heading over to the cafe, she loved this place. A waitress seated both of them to a nice booth, and she looked up out the window and to the sky it was beautiful out. "Thanks for this, you know I have to admit. I really like spending time with you Charles, your a good guy and I like you a lot"

Charles Streak

He smiled,

"And I enjoy spending time with you, I would not really have done everything we have done together if I did not."

He gave her a playful wink and ordered his drink

She smiled at him and ordered a root beer, and nodded. "Yeah I figured your not the sort of guy to just do things you don't like, but I'm glad your having fun to" She said happily. Sitting back in her chair, enjoying it. "Sometime we should do what we did last night, you spending the night at my place. Could spend the whole day and night watching movies or something"

Charles Streak

He smiled back at her,

"It would be fun, but as you know I have to work hard to get my things paid. Perhaps over a Sunday or something, when the park is way too quiet to be of any productive use."

He started to feel sorry for her, she seemed to really have no friends. At least she saw in him the person he really was, he would never take advantage of her kindness or hurt her in any way. He didn't know if she knew this and if she just acted on an instinct.

She smiled at him and nodded "Sounds good" She said happily. Luna never wanted people to feel sorry for her, there were people in the world that had less then they both had. "You know you should make a demo of some of your music you have written, I know someone who owes me a favor who would do it without a problem" She said happily.

Charles Streak

He chuckled,

"I've made so many demos that I can start my own music data base, I'll get you one of the tapes when I get back to my place later on."

He fished out a paper and started to scribble on it as he spoke to her, their drinks arrived and he took a sip.

"Seems like you have collected quite an extensive amount of favors, must be useful at some stage."

She smiled sipping her drink and thought about it. Nodding "Yeah my father was a music producer, pretty soon I knew his friends. And they always said if you need help, we will do what ever we can for you. So yeah I know people because my father did, only real friend I have in this world though, is you. And I'm happy about it to"

Charles Streak

"Well then, my father is into accounting and they wanted me to follow, but instead I gave that job to my younger brother who actually was quite keen to follow in dad's footsteps. My decision to follow a musical career is what got me kicked out of home in the first place."

He took a sip and leaned back,

"Of course I'm not complaining about my decision and I believe that I never will regret it. I love music and perhaps one day that love will be returned."

He grinned,

"Also with a friend like you around, who sings like an angel and also knows a lot of songs and music it should be good going I believe."

She listened to him, and thought it was terrible that he got kicked out just because he wanted to follow his dreams. Thinking for a moment, her parents never would have done that to there own flesh and blood. But then he said what he did about her, looking down for a moment she blushed big time.

'Thanks, I can't believe your parents kicked you out. Just for following your dreams, I admire that. Did you know that you were going to get kicked out for it?"

She asked hoping it wasn't painful to talk about.

"We don't have to talk about it, I'm to nosy for my own good sometimes. But I want to learn more about you, your a nice guy Charles, and I like you a lot"

Charles Streak

He nodded,

"Yes, I knew. Thing is that without any form of support following that dream became a real challenge. While at the art school it wasn't that difficult to have a place to sleep, because I practically did none of that. I had to study, practice and work double shifts to make ends meet. Well luckily between semesters I caught up with the sleep and I got ahead with the money, so by the time I graduated I was tired, but had enough money to get an apartment and this old girl."

He patted the old case lovingly.

Listing to his story made he realize how easy her life had been, compared to his. Nodding at what he said, she found him very interesting. "you had to earn everything, me not so much. I will admit Ive had a much easier life, everything always been handed to me. But once I turned fifteen I knew I didn't want my life handed to me on a silver platter you know?" She said happily and sighed a bit, thinking for a moment. "After my parents died, I didn't let me slow me down. I did cry for them, but in my own time. Never had any friends, because I choose that. I was always afraid of getting hurt, till I met you any way" She said with a smile.

"I can tell your a very good man"

Charles Streak

He smiled at her,

"I try my best to be. We all hurt some time or another, whether it's life or other people, it is more about how we handle it than how we avoid it."

He gave her a wink and took a sip of his drink, patting hos old case to make sure it was there.

Listing to him for a moment, and before she knew it. Started to really think about what he said about lives being hard, rather it be things that happen or other people. She spoke for a moment.

"Sometimes we see things that aren’t meant to be seen.
Sometimes things aren’t always as they seem.
Sometimes we need someone to call our own,
Especially when we’re alone.
Sometimes people just can’t understand,
Why things get out of hand.
Sometimes life just isn’t fair,
Especially when people just don’t care.
And sometimes it's hard to say,
Why things have to be this way.
Sometimes it’s all you can do to get by,
Especially when dreams continue to die.
Sometimes it’s nice to sit in the rain.
Even to just relieve the pain.
And when we’ve had a really bad day,
Sometimes we just need to get away.
We never know what’s wrong with out pain.
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.

And sometimes when people get hurt,
Even the strongest ones may need comfort."

Charles Streak

He listened and then nodded,

"Yes it is true, but you should not hide away from pain."

The waiter brought their food and after he had thanked her and took a bite, he continued.

"Hiding away will not make you stronger, it is when you live your life as best as you can, through heartache and pain, you become who you should be. Your basis as person can not change if you learn how to handle pain and disappointment."

She listened to what he said, as she sipped her coke. Then began to eat, thinking about what he said. He was right, though to her sadness and other negative emotions are weak to her. She didn't think that was a weak emotion on other people, just her. Because she thought that she should be immune to it. Looking down at her plate, thinking about the best way to say this. Without sounding like a moron that was a self pity fanatic.

"You should be a therapist as well, perhaps one who sings to his patience"

She said and had a smile on her face.

"Guess I'll work on it a bit, though Ive never really dealt with feelings like that. It's funny I see self pity, sorrow. Negative feelings as weak for me, but feelings like that on other people? I don't find that weak. Ive always had to be stronger then most, I didn't have much of a childhood. But I know I know I'm not the only person who had no childhood"

Charles Streak

He chuckled,

"Therapist, if I stayed in school for that I might just have jumped from a roof for sure."

He patted her hand,

"It is not weak, those feelings is what makes us all human, it proves you have a heart, it defines the human condition. Without them we will not be able to grow, to learn and become better."

He smiled at her and ate further,

"In any case, being brave doesn't mean you are not afraid."

Luna nodded to what he said and he really was a great man, even someone as young as he was. But it didn't matter how old you are, when you have struggled all your life. It means something, she sipped her drink and sat back. "Yeah I know, guess it was how I was raised. I was raised thinking how I think, though you really are smart. But you have always been through a lot, you know what a hard life is"

Charles Streak

"Indeed I do, it does tend to build character."

He gave her a grin.

"Some would of course say the Army is a way to build character, but who wants to be a lemming?"

She looked up at him and smiled at him "Very true" She said simply and thought for a moment. "My uncle died he was in Vietnam and only thing we got was an American flag. Well should say all that my father got, since I wasn't born yet"

Charles Streak

He nodded,

"But if you take into account the amount of soldiers they lost it is hard to commemorate one soldier and remember him as you would. They do the best that they can, I'm not one to stand up for "The Man", but at times you have to look at it from the other side as well."
