He patted her shoulder where she sat beside him,

"When you confront those dark fears, you will grow much more in person than you would by leaving them all unspoken and feared."

He sighed and finally opened his case, pulling out his trusty guitar, running fingers over the strings to make certain it's tuned. Tossing his hair with a flick of his head, he strummed the melody for "Spanish Eyes", his fingers working effortlessly to create the sounds and when he was done, he sat there looking at her.

"Any requests?"

She smiled at him with great love that she had for him, it was rather funny how things just seemed to happen. Looking down for a moment she sighed a bit then looked at him "Know any elton john songs?" She asked unsure exactly what all he knew.

He smiled at her and started to play, his voice following shortly after the intro

"This ain't no battle honey, this ain't no fight
How come you take it so hard when I stay out all night
If I take a drink, is that against the law
And if I have a good time, do you call that an act of war

Well you better believe it boy, this house is your home
I didn't build it up for you to live here on my own
And if you think it's easy to forget about me
You'd better think twice, you'd better believe it's an act of war

We're living on the front line you and me
Fighting on this battleground of misery
Oh go ahead bring on your artillery
And we'll make this an act of war
Give it all you've got `cause I'm all dug in
Keep the punches coming I can take them on the chin
Winner takes all, let the best man win
And we call it an act of war

Well I'm a man of convenience I work a long hard day
After twelve long hours ain't I got the right to play
If living together is getting in the way
Then I call that an act of war

Well if that's your game then honey two can play
I'm going on the town tonight and have some fun my way
Ain't no way baby this girl's gonna stay
I call it, I call it an act of war

And it looks like time ain't been on our side
If we could turn the clock back
We might survive this act of war"

She grinned enjoying the song already and began to harmonize with him and she began to clap to the beat and soon she noticed some people doing the same and she was really happy right now being there with him. She loved singing with him, unsure how things would really turn out for them. But she didn't mind uncertainty.

He grinned at her,

"Of course there is a bit more upbeat as well."

He strummed the intro and started singing,

"When the shades are drawn
And the light of the moon is banned
And the stars up above
Walk the heavens hand in hand
There's a shady place
At the end of the working day
Where young lovers go
And this hot little trio plays
That's where we meet
That's where we meet
Me and you rendezvous
In the club at the end of the street
Oooh where we meet
Oooh where we meet
Me and you rendezvous
In the club at the end of the street
From the alleyways
Where the catwalks gently sway
You hear the sound of Otis
And the voice of Marvin Gaye
In this smoky room
There's a jukebox plays all night
And we can dance real close
Beneath the pulse of a neon light
There's a downtown smell of cooking
From the flame on an open grill
There's a sax and a big bass pumping
Lord have mercy
You can't sit still
You can't sit still
That's where we meet
That's where we meet
Me and you rendezvous
In the club at the end of the street
Oooh where we meet
Oooh where we meet
Me and you rendezvous
In the club at the end of the street"

She smiled at him and grinned enjoying the song and it put some life into the people around them, grinning she was really happy about this moment clapping a bit more.

Giving her a wink he moved to another song:

"Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you died
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the 22nd row
Who sees you as something more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did"

She knew the song in the first sentence of the song, it was one of her mothers favorite songs, it was a rather nice song to sing to. She harmonized with him enjoying it, when he was done she looked at him. "Love that song" She said and giggled a bit.

He chuckled,

"Of course, it is a classic and well loved all around."

"Please sir, can we hear another one?"

He looked over at the woman who had spoken, she was holding a man's hand, the two clearly in love. He smiled at them,

"Alright, I will play one just for you two."

He winked at Luna and started playing:

"There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best"

He finished and leaned back on the bench, turning his attention to advanced finger practices. He smiled at Luna,

"That is my favorite of his."

She smiled at him, she actually had brought her guitar as well and thought of a song. And looking at the woman with her husband or boyfriend she knew what song to sing. Closing her eyes as a melody escaped her lips which she did herself since it was for a piano and then began to play the guitar with it, tapping her foot as she sang.

"I waited for you today
But you didn't show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You'd be there
And though I haven't seen You
Are You still there?

[Chorus:]
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone

And though I cannot see You
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life

We cannot separate
'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

[Chorus]
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone

We cannot separate
You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

[Chorus]
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone"

He actually knew the song, so as she played he added base, giving the song the beat it lacked as she made the chords. He had his eyes half-closed, humming softly along

She smiled at him they were great together and enjoying the beat he gave her as she was happy about everything right now.

In the end the extra guitar gave more creative freedom, it's been a long time since Charles could truly cut loose. It was the most fun he have had in a long time, after dark he took her to a small restaurant where they knew him, they shared a bottle of wine as they talked, Charles had to admit, that he was growing to like Luna much more in the past three days, than he would have thought possible at the start of their relationship.

She enjoyed her conversations with Charles he was something else and he had more skill then grave himself credit for, which was something she didn't like but wouldn't change him or try to any way. Sipping the wine that was bought she enjoyed everything she could possibly enjoy. Leaning against him she chuckled at the jokes he told since he was truly funny.

It was late evening when they went to her place, Charles saw her off at the door, but this time he did something different, he kissed her cheek before he left. He knew that he wanted to stay, but didn't trust himself enough to stay. He stayed home the next day, writing a few songs, making sure they sounded right and new. He spent that evening sitting on his windowsill, one foot rested on the ground and the other on the sill, his back against the wall as he stared out at the city. That evening he had trouble sleeping, that made him oversleep the next morning and it was nearly mid day when he got to his usual spot. There was a woman seated there dressed in a power suit, he stopped, then moved to the bench opposite her.

"Mr Streak?"

Charles looked up at her,

"Yes?"

She got up and walked over to him, sticking out her hand,

"Jessica Simmonds, DMI Records. You have met Mr Clarkson? He said you sounded great and gave me the demo tape, you have time?"

"Sure, I have nothing but time."

She gave him a small smile and sat down with him,

"We have been looking for you, people have been mentioning you to the right people and we took notice. I came here to hear if you have time to come in for a demonstration and of course talk about negotiating a contract if you are interested."

Charles' world stopped for a few seconds as he stared at her in disbelief, then the world started spinning again and he felt life returning to his shocked system.

"Yes, you can just tell me when and I'll come."

She got up and straightened her skirt,

"How about now?"

Charles almost leaped to his feet, but instead stood up casually, he wondered what Luna would be thinking for not seeing him for two days...he thought that he would be able to visit her that evening.

"OK I'm ready."

He at least remembered to pick up his old guitar as he walked with her.

Luna didn't know what was going on, she was busy at work but every time she went to see Charles he wasn't there, then she began to wonder if he didn't want to see her again. That something bad happened to him, her mind was going a mile a minute and couldn't call him. Everything just took hold of her kicked her right in the head and that was it. Sighing sadly as she was on the bench four days into not seeing him, and figured he moved on so she slowly stood up and headed home, unsure how to feel.

The days went past much faster than he had anticipated, then there was a lull, a waiting for a drummer to partake in a song as the usual drummer that the studio used had fallen ill. Charles saw the opportunity as a blessing, he wanted to rest and most of all he needed to see Luna, his muse, his luck goddess. It was late that evening when he mounted the stairs of her home, he hoped that she would be there, but after ringing the doorbell for some time and knocking rather forcefully a few more times he knew that she was out. He of course was very disappointed, but he knew that he would see her some time, he pulled out his wallet with a business card for DMI Records, he patted his jacket and found a pen, it was red, but it would do for now, he wrote on the card:

Dear Luna

Finally I got that deal that I've been dreaming of. You truly brought luck into my life. As soon as I get my own number I will let you know.

Charles

He then stuck it into the doorbell button, making sure that it would not be dislodged. He stepped down the stairs and then made his way down the street, he still loved walking and that is what he did, it gave him time to think as he went.

Luna ended up getting home about an hour after he had left her stoop and then noticed something on the door. She read the back and sighed some "Damn..." She thought and kicked her door upset she missed him. She unlocked her door and went inside re-reading what he wrote. "least someone is having something going good for them" She said and a spark of jealousy hit her but she shook it away thinking.

He got to the apartment which the company had gotten him a few hours later, he picked up his old guitar case and opened it, taking out his old guitar, he stroked lovingly over the familiar curves when a paper caught his attention, he reached in and pulled it out. It was the song that Luna had written with him that one evening, he folded it up and tucked it into his jacket. He would ask if they could try it tomorrow, right now he needed some sleep. He went to bed, laying the guitar on the bed next to him, one hand wrapped around the neck, that was how he woke up the next morning.

She wasn't very happy at the moment, but she did the best that she could to deal with it. Everything around her just seemed to relax she didn't even notice she had fallen asleep till it was to late. Sighing softly as she began to wonder exactly what was to happen again, she smiled so contently it was a great thing. She missed her friend though.

He took the music sheet with him and introduced it to the producer, he tried it out on a mixer, then he made copies and said that Charles and the band should try it, Charles picked up the lead guitar and checked out the chords, then to the others' amazement he started playing it. They knew he could play, they just didn't know that he had some experience during his studies with the electric guitar. When he asked if he could play the lead for the song the producer said that it could work for him, for now. The song was an instant hit with the producer and the rest of the band. After recording it, it was sent out to a couple of radio stations and soon requests came in for the song to be played again. Without knowing it Charles and Luna had written a hit and it was hours from going viral and making Charles an international star.

everything could have gone better but right now she didn't know what was going to happen to much, but then she heard the radio station and heard the song she helped Charles make. She was glad that he finally made it, but some sadness could be seen in her face. Shutting the song off as she sighed. She wrote that with him and no credit was given. She just shrugged and stayed inside most of the week. It appeared he had forgotten about her, so decided to try and move on with her life if she could.

He listened to the radio, of course the DJ only stated that he sang the song, but he had the reassurance that on the single CD Luna would be credited as the writer of the song. He wondered how she was doing, but soon enough his mind was caught up again as the producers had checked through his new songs and wanted to do most of them.

It was a harrowing week as the song went completely off the charts, people wanted more of Charles and DMI knew that he was now their goose with the golden eggs. They slowly fed the populace and the media more of his music, but not Charles' identity, just the music. It was another few weeks later when Charles got time off, he sat on his usual bench in the park. Guitar on the lap he simply played the songs that Luna had said she liked, he mostly sat there in the hope that she might happen along.

She was on her way to just relax a little bit and then heard a song she hadn't heard in a while and stopped a few feet away. "Charles?" she called out and actually walked faster over to him and smiled hugging him. "where in the world have you been?" She said happily and was happy he was okay, though had a feeling this new life he would soon regret if they don't let him have more time to relax.

He heard his name and a smile came to his face when he recognize Luna's voice, he hugged her tight and grinned at her.

"Been busy making music my dear,"

he hugged her again.

"Damn I've missed you so much."

He drew away,

"Did you hear it? Did you hear our song on the radio? The producer promised me that you will be labeled as the writer when the single CD comes out."

He pulled her to the bench and sat down with her,

"You're not looking too well, are you OK?"
