Results are in for the only Republican Congressional primary runoff in Texas.
Congressman Tony Gonzalez beat carpetbagger Brandon Herera by a measly 407 votes in the runoff for the Congressional seat that is most of San Antonio.

Herera, a North Carolina resident whose primary income is derived from YouTube ammosexual videos, claimed he had relocated to Texas. He never served in the military but declared he was an "honorary veteran" because he once considered suicide by firearm. Haw haw.

Herera said that he'd join the Freedumb caucus and was a strong supporter of not voting for financial extension of the national debt.

Herera also said he'd vote for "one man one woman" marriage laws, not aware that the decision was no longer Congress' to make anymore.

Herera's loss breaks the string of consecutive victories of fringe-right outsiders coming to Texas to establish a political base via carpetbagging. Congressman Dan "Popeye" Crenshaw, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and US Senator Rafael "Ted" Cruz used Texas as a base for their national aspirations.

Awesome news!

And note the immediate MAGAt butthurt. 🙂

In other Texas runoff news, an interesting result in the bluest district in Texas (146).

Representative Shawn Thierry was forced into a runoff against newcomer Lauren Simmons. Thierry called herself a progressive Southern Baptist Democrat. As a Baptist, though, she could not condone homos or trannies, which in turn made her Governor Greg Abbott's favorite "peekaboo".

Abbott gave her prime positions in the state legislature and she got national notoriety for leading Abbott's jihad against transgender care.

Thierry has been in office since 2018, routinely getting 80-90 percent of the vote. Her anti-gay comments, though, decimated her public support, and came in second place with 48 percent of the vote (Simmons got 49 percent, the libertarian spoiler got 3%).

Thierry got annihilated in the runoff, got only 34% of the vote to Simmons 66% yesterday.

Hmm I wonder? Was it the particular gay rights issue, or was it that the broader electorate is fed up to the back teeth with divisive single issue politics. Most folk want a limited suite of practical government services to be delivered on time and on budget, without the constant and frequently artificial disputation, most of which is totally unnecessary.

Who did you vote for?

Or better question, who were you supporting- we know you getting out of the house to vote isn’t likely to happen since you stay in a lot and Orange Jesus said mail in votes are bad.

You need to get an education in English grammar. You don't know how to pose a question or start a sentence.

Hard to tell. Thierry was a bit of a loose cannon.

She first rose to prominence in the state proposing that a constitutional amendment cap raises in property taxes. Texas has no income tax, so capping property taxes (the prime method counties supply services) would have crippled county governments, and made counties completely dependent on the state legislature for relief to pay for first responders and more importantly, public education. Bill died in committee.

Then she authored a bill in her public safety committee to add a 1000% surtax on all weapons sold in Texas that have a magazine. It got out of committee but she got her own bill killed as a member of the ways and means (taxation) committee. Seems to have been a PR stunt.

What got her national prominence was a 12 minute scorched earth speech she made in Jan 2023 calling the parents of trans students basically incompetent parents and calling trans students mentally ill. This put her on Greg "Hotwheels Hitler" Abbott's radar, and gave him a political gift: A single black female legislator doing her best Candace Owens impression telling Texans it was okay to bash tranny kids AND their parents too. Convenient political cover!

Texas billionaires bankrolled her re-election (reluctantly, they hate both Democrats and blacks) but her little known primary opponent got a shit-ton of out of state money from virtually every gay and/or trans support group in America.
