Texas Flood

Austin Texas firefighters publicly denounced their own Fire Chief tonight, outraged that Chief Joel Baker would not deploy the Austin FD Swift Water Rescue Unit to Kerrville Texas during the Texas flood last weekend. Supposedly Chief Baker said such a deployment "wasn't in the budget, and he was committed to saving Austin taxpayers money". Apparently Chief Baker was unaware the the state of Texas reimburses local police/fire/rescue units who are deployed to other areas in times of emergencies (I knew they did this with public utilities, but not LEO/FD).

The firefighters are demanding a public "vote of no confidence" in Chief Baker's lack of leadership.

Details of the botched FEMA response being leaked out by irate FEMA employees.

Upon assuming her position as Supreme Commander of FEMA, Kosplay Kristi Noehm issued the following directive: NO expenditure over $100,000 without her signature. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Noehm put a halt to that practice (with help from Elon's DOGE tech bros). Going forward, "rapid response teams" would henceforth be mobilized DURING or AFTER a weather-related event, essentially becoming a "tepid response team". No moar two day "mini-vacations" for these responders, they were now "just in time" (sic) which Elon sez is a business "best practice. Noehm authorized deployment of FEMA "first responders" 12 hours after the flood waters crested.
  2. Secondly, during the first Trump regime hi-resolution satellite imaging was outsourced by the government to the private sector. All well and good, right? Well, Disaster struck Texas, FEMA executed their disaster plan.....and one of the first steps was to obtain detailed satellite imagery immediately after the flood to pinpoint the location of possible survivors and immediately dispatch rescue units. Uh oh, the cost of this exceeded $100,000, requiring, you guessed it, Kristi Noehm's personal approval. Unfortunately, this was the Independence Day weekend, and Secretary Kristi Noehm TURNED HER GOVERNMENT PHONE OFF BECAUSE IT WAS A HOLIDAY. She did finally check her messages that night and authorized the imagery purchase, but only after an hour on a conference call with her public relations staff discussing strategy to spin the flood response as a "success" for Secretary Noehm and President Trump.

People died due to Kristi Noehm's poor handling of the flood response. Politics over public safety.

DHS posts hostile 'fake news lies' re CNN report about delays but manages to confirm the delays in its own post

CNN reported that “even as Texas rescue crews raced to save lives, FEMA officials realized they needed Noem’s approval before sending [in] additional assets. Noem didn’t authorize FEMA’s deployment of Urban Search and Rescue teams until Monday, more than 72 hours after the flooding began, multiple sources told CNN.”

I've just heard from someone who lives in the flooded area in the run up to this there had been a lot of cloud seeding taking place.

Interesting reading about the Tide Detergent "Loads Of Hope" program being deployed....I'd never heard of it.

A convoy of trucks and vans containing mobile clothes washers and dryers and some with personal shower units. That's the sort of thing you'll need after an event like the flood.
