Greetings fellow Milwaukeean! Lit's use of tags only allows brackets [] for formatting. For example:

BOLD

Italic

Underlined

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks, Harold, but I wasn't trying to have bold and underlined typed two times. This is what I did.....highlighted the word to be bold or underlined, clicked on B/U, a little box came up asking what text was to be bold/underlined. I typed the word I wanted, and when it posted, the right words were done, but they showed up twice in the line. How do I get just the words I want it done to, and not typed a second time???

Thank you, too, KR.....nice to meet you! Your answer was a little too techy for me to understand. :(

You're used to an EZBoard forum, aren't you? ;)

The vBulletin software doesn't support adding tags to highlighted text, so you need to use the formatting buttons BEFORE you type the word you want bold or underlined.

Or, you can manually add the tags where you want them.

Or, you can use the buttons to enter the tags and then C&P them into position around the text you want highlighted. Just enter a period when the box comes up to get "{B].{/B]" and then move the first tag to the beginning of the text you want in Bold (and delete the period if necessary.)

The C&P option insures that you don't make any typos and have both the start and stop tags.

TY, Harold!! :)

One more problem, I know I read it earlier, but don't wanna go back thru 40some pages to find it. How do I quote only part of a reply? When I copy it, and then click on "quote", I can't paste it then.

I'm not sure what an EZBoard is, so can't say if that's what I'm used to.

Thanks in advance!!

EZBoard is just another software package for forums like this -- kind of like the difference between MS Word and Wordperfect; both are word processers, but they have different quirks and ways of doing things.

Once you have clicked the quote button, you can edit the text brought into your reply just as you edit what you type.

Or you can use the quote button to cut and paste selected text from the thread summary below the reply form.

I often copy the tags the Quote button puts around text I'm replying to and paste it into place to break up a large post to reply point by point -- you have to remember to coppy the closing tags as well if you do it that way.

For example, the text from your post is preceded by:
{QUOTE]{i]Originally posted by Four_Inch_Heels {/i]
{B] (with the square bracket converted to '{' to prevent it from being parsed.

The text is closed with:
{/B]{/QUOTE]

Copying and pasting those two blocks into the middle of a block of text breaks a single quote into multiple quotes.

Selecting a portion of a quote and hitting delete removes it completely.

Okay trying this again .

Still just testing.

Still not totally getting the point by point quoting, how to do it, but I can manage with what I know now.

Thanks, Harold!!

The thing to remember is that the only difference between a quote and the text you type are the vB quote tags before and after the quote.

vB tags are identified by square brackets -- quote this post and examine the text added to what I've typed (the quoted portion isn't imported into the reply, that's to prevent quoted quotes embedded in quotes.)

an attachment

Edited:
I forgot the attachment. Duh!

BUT I learned that you cannot put in an attachment while editing a post! :D

stupid thing!!

Are you previwing your post after setting up the attachment? That seems to be the most common reason for it not working. Set your attachment after previewing, or don't preview a post with an attachment.

The scond most common reason is an attachment that's too big -- either more than 800x600 or over 100KB (102400 bytes).
