MSNBC says a "terrorist" threw a grenade at some US soldiers in Kuwait.

What makes for a terrorist?

Anyone who does an action that is against the US or US interests.

Terrorism, the deliberate creation and exploitation of fear for bringing about political change. All terrorist acts involve violence or—equally important—the threat of violence. These violent acts are committed by nongovernmental groups or individuals—that is, by those who are neither part of nor officially serving in the military forces, law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, or other governmental agencies of an established nation-state.

They're not saying whether the grenade-guy was a soldier or not. (They don't know.)

You're saying governments can't commit terrorism?

NBC is now reporting that an American soldier was missing and has now been arrested.

They're calling this a "criminal investigation."

Part of the problem with having live feeds is that what's reported immediately often isn't what actually happened.

And I just heard that the two "suspects" were not terrorists but translators. Who knows? This is why you can't just go believing everything the media tells you. Wish I could get my students to understand that.
