This is a really disgusting trend. Even on talk radio they have DJs playing sounds of Teri's breathing now and are making fun of it.

For God's sake, people, she didn't do anything, why are people making fun of her? What did she do to deserve all this ridicule? That's totally beyond fucked up.

This is why I refuse to identify with liberals or conservatives.

And we know what a bastion of liberalism talk radio is.

Only liberals are making these jokes? I agree that they're disgusting (though I haven't heard any myself during my brief car rides to and from work) but why do you connect them with liberals?

That crossed my mind too. Liberals and radio talk are like oil and water, for the most part. The two don't seem to mix.

I guess both sides are doing this to some extent. There are SOME liberals on talk radio.

You do know Purple Haze was also doing it right here on Lit, right?

Mix one part headline + one part bad taste = Humor.

Sometimes, but not always.

Granted. There are some liberals on talk radio. There's a few blacks in country clubs too (though mostly in the kitchens). It's just that your thread title singled out liberals specifically.

And no, I didn't catch PH's act. Not too PC, huh?

I expect neo cons to make these kinds of sick jokes, not liberals... just sayin'.

Ah, I see your point, then. Okay.

Conservatives who do it are just acting in (that miserable excuse for) character. But then they're contradicting themselves when at the same time they scream that they're pro-life and how Teri's life should have been saved (which I strongly agree with), etc.

When I see the other side doing it, that's totally out of character, completely. I can see Liberals dancing about Reagan's death, etc... but Teri? She did nothing to anyone.

I am glad to see *some* people have said that humor is unacceptable, though.

When I say this is a black mark upon liberalism, it doesn't mean all liberals do it; it means one or two high profile liberals doing it is all that it takes to get all liberals tarred for it.

If you and her parents werent such sanctimonious arrogant assholes we would never have heard her fucking name.

Your fault.

Notm ours because some people dont know how to deal with the situation.

What about the asshole brother and sisters accusations at the eleventh hour when all thier attempts to deny her her wishes failed coming up on National TV and accusing him of breaking her bones and causing this issue fifteen years ago.

Blow me.

Lemme get this right, KS. Your reasoning is "It's all your fault that I made fun of her", right?

there is one rule of humour
make sure it is funny
follow that rule and you can joke about any subject , no matter how sensitive
some people use humour to counteract their grief.
it is often the case that liberals are the most conservative in their humour, finding alleged slights in jokes or stories
political correctness is a liberal invention that is often turned against comedy that may allegedly offend some invisible minority

Therein we have a disagreement. I feel there should be limits to where we can go with humor. Making fun of 9/11 would be one example of a line one would be wise not to cross.

I don't know about today but in the 1990s they were rip roaring crazy funny, often at the expense of things I stood for (and still do). Michael Moore is a grim shadow of what I saw in the streets and online - and Moore can still out-clown the best conservatives today. Note, I don't agree with everything he comes up with (Bowling for Columbine especially).

Liberals may be conservative when it comes to making fun of intrinsic trait demographics (race, religion, etc), except for the vile plague of male bashing, but they're also not hated around the world by those that they insult, either...

your point is?

Making light or fun of someone's misery is inhumane. No excuse is worthy.

There are some things that humor should not touch.

9/11
Teri Schiavo (not including her relatives, of course)

Ever wonder why neo cons get their panties in a bunch when someone makes fun of US troops dying?

That's because, as I said, there are limits...

there are no limits in humour
why shouldnt the world laugh at 911? it was over three years ago, the world does not stop turning because of that attrocity happened.
terr died today , but why shouldnt people see the funny side of it , if it helps them get through the day then so be it
what you are saying is that we shouldnt be happy or smile because somebody somewhere in the world may take offence and that is bullshit , every joke will be offensive to somebody and terri schiavo jokes will be offensive to her family and friends just as the same way that racist or sexist jokes will OOPS CORRECTION HERE ..MAY be offensive to whatever minority that is the target humour makes the world go round a lot more efficiently than grief or in this case perceived grief by proxy

Ok, well I guess I should go back to college and rip down those ignorant little "ethnic jokes are NOT funny" posters that litter the walls there.

Nah... on the other hand I think I'll agree to disagree here. I think there's a clear line between making fun of a bum or a blunderbutt and making fun of someone's ethnicity. You and I come from two different and very large American cultures.

Hmmmm LT now who here does that.?I wonder....

Here is the face of the real creeps..The first that came to me mind was that it was either bottom feeder or the monkey.. and some of the sort of things it says...
While not necessarily the view of the website itself, the comments that follow betray a disgusting sick form of sarcasm amongst liberal readers opposing saving Terri's life.

One reader states, "I think that Terry bitch will be dying all fucking week."

Another opines, "I have to go back for a wedding next week. If she's still alive, I may just have to join in the aggravation of the moron protestors who, like Terri, obviously have no life to spend so much time harassing folks other than being productive citizens."

More bluntly, 'foutu' states, "terri is the most persistent vegetable ever. there's celery in my fridge that is dying quicker than this bitch."

Other images feature Terri Schiavo's head plastered onto other bodies and distorted. Another jokes, "what's Florida's state vegetable? Terri Schiavo."

Pro-death protest photos from a different location feature signs that read 'Honk if you hate Jesus" and "God isn't real."

On a different left-wing blog, one post reads, "some well placed heart attacks and anuerisms would be helpful."

Dude, what website are those comments from? I'm absolutely horrified by that crap but evidence is needed to give me a real perspective about it.

The ones making the jokes are the people who don't really care about the issue but are being subjected to the nonsense day in and day out. The people making the jokes are just venting their frustration with all of this. It's like the dark humour you see on front lines in wartime.

No doubt that would no doubt make up the vast majority of the jokesters.

Then perhaps those people aren't liberals. In that case there's only one liberal I know who's making fucked up TS jokes and he's on this board...
