About noon today i had a telemarketer call the house. the boy asked for my wife and i asked who was calling. he said shawn when i asked from where he said financial i asked if this was about a credit card and he said yes. i told the boy we didnt want it . his story then changed it wasnt a credit card i told when asked why he told me it was he said i never did. he then called me ignorant and asked if i was smart. when i asked to speak to his supervisior he said why got all nervous. then the fucking cock sucking bastard came back on trying to disguise his voice and pretended to be someone else . he cursed i cursed told him to give me the business name and number he wouldnt. then he would not hang up his end of the phone. even the phonecompany would or as they said can not trace a call made to a residential line. so i have to wait for the asshole's company to call tomarrow. hopefully it will be a different person and the first thing i am going to do is ask for the immediate supervisor.
i understand people make a living this way but use some fucking common sense when dealing with potential customers. he kept me from talking to his bosses today but there is another day.


and if you happen to work for a telemarker and you are asked to remove someone from your calling lists have the decency to do it or find someone that will.

sorry about this just had to get it off my chest.

but what really pissed me off was the fact that this wanker kept trying to convince me and the wife that he didnt say what he did.

Next time someone calls for yourself or your wife. Tell them immediately the call is being recorded (even if it isnt) then ask for a supervisor. If they refuse to get you one. Simply tell them "remove me from your list." Follow that with "I now have a recording of this call and I have documentation that I have been asked to be removed from your call list do you understand?" as soon as they say yes, say thank you and hang up.

Also you may want to look into call intercept, it will not allow people with their caller ID blocked to get through without alerting you to who they are and what number they are calling from. Most telemarketers have Caller ID block and either wont bother calling again or you will have their number to call them back.

*note check the laws in your state about call recording they vary.

Ten responses to use with Telemarketers:

1. If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and you could sure use some money.

2. If they start out with, "How are you today?" say, "I'm so glad you asked, because no one these days seems to care, and I have all these problems. My arthritis is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my dog just died..."

3. If they say they're John Doe from XYZ Company, ask them to spell their name. Then ask them to spell the company name. Then ask them where it is located, how long it has been in business, how many people work there, how they got into this line of work if they are married, how many kids they have, etc Continue asking them personal questions or questions about their company for as long as necessary.

4. This works great if you are male. Telemarketer: "Hi, my name is Judy and I'm with XYZ Company." You: Wait for a second and with a real husky voice ask, "What are you wearing?"

5. Cry out in surprise, "Judy? Is that you? Oh my God! Judy, how have you been?" Hopefully, this will give Judy a few brief moments of terror as she tries to figure out where she could know you.

6. Say "No" over and over. Be sure to vary the sound of each one, and keep a rhythmic tempo, even as they are trying to speak. This is most fun if you can do it until they hang up.

7. If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up for the Family and Friends Plan, reply, in as sinister a voice as you can, "I don't have any friends, would you be my friend?"

8. If the company cleans rugs, respond: "Can you get out blood? Can you get out goat blood? How about human blood?"

9. After the Telemarketer gives his or her spiel, ask him or her to marry you. When they get all flustered, tell them that you can't just give your credit card number to a complete stranger.

10. Tell the Telemarketer that you work for the same company, and they can't sell to employees.

when you ask to be put on the "do not call" list, also tell them to send you a letter. This will help you to document who called and then if they call again you are more able to sue them and earn yourself some money (if it's within the designated "do not call" time period---such as a year).

I have let my 6 yr old son answer and they get upset trying to get a 6 yr old to get his mommy or daddy to the phone.....LOL
Sometimes they wont call back and sometimes they do and i will let my son answer again, about 2 or 3 times of my son saying in his sweetiest 5 yr old voice."Hello? Hello?Who is this? Hello?........mommy they wont talk......" they usually give up for the night.


Ive had them call me on Sunday nights after 9 pm. I didnt think they was allowed to call anyone after a certain time of night regardless of what time zone they are in.

Pond Scum

Telemarketers are easy. They rely on tricking weak people into believing that there is some sort of social contract involved, like you shouldn't be rude. They are not human, they are pond scum. You are not human to them either, you are a mark, a part of their hourly quota.

The first thing to do is take charge of the phone call, find out if it is something legitimate, and if not, get them off the phone as soon as possible. When they ask if Mr. or (the non-existent) Mrs. so or so is there, I answer with my own questions instead:

1. Who is calling?
2. What are you calling about?

That is all I say, no niceties. Any dodging or unsatisfactory answers means I immediately hang up without a second thought. Or else I just hang up when I hear the pause that means an auto-dialer has called me. Depends on my mood.

The real High Lords of Evil are the fax spammers. They like to call with an auto-dialer at three am in the morning. Calling over and over, until I let them connect with my fax. Scum.

They are legally required to give you a number, to be taken off their list. I tried that back when I just had one fax spammer. They just took my reply as confirmation that I had a working fax machine. And promptly sold my number. So that within a few months, I had twenty fax spammers trying my number instead of just one. The first one never stopped either. Scum of the earth.
