The thing is historically you only get one shot, I'm sure there are exceptions but that's the rule. Do you want to burn Chris Christie on a "fair" fight that he could lose or store him away until 2020 (if Hillary looks weak) or 2024 when he could probably simply walk into the White House, explain it's his turn and everybody would nod their heads.
