For some reason, turning on the signatures option makes the posts stop showing properly. With signatures on, the page becomes wider than the screen, forcing me to scroll back and forth to read each line. With signatures turned off, the page displays properly. I'd like to be able to see all of these sigs that everyone keeps talking about, but I also want to be able to read posts. I have this problem with both IE 7.0 and Firefox 2..0. Anyone have any ideas how I might fix this? I paged Weird Harold, but I'm not proud. I'll take help from anyone.

Two quick questions:

1. What's your screen resolution?
2. Which forum style do you use?

Screen resolution is 1200x800, which is as high as this computer will go. By forum style, I assume you mean Forum skin. I'm using the default.

The odd part is that unchecking "show signatures" is all that it takes to make the pages display properly.

Try Image liquid and see if that helps.

Alas, no. Threads where posters have sigs still stretch off the page. Threads with no sigs fit properly.:(

Does this thread stretch off the page? (through the first six posts.)

It's not normal for signatures to stretch the entire thread , especially at 1200x800 resolution. I have problems with individual posts that stretch wider than my preferred 800x600 screen resolution but this version of vBUlletin is supposed to stretch only those posts/signatures that exceed the screen resolution

This thread doesn't stretch off the screen, but others do. I have noticed that when the thread stretches off the screen, there's a signature that does too. Changing the forum skin doesn't seem to make any difference. I guess it's just no sigs for me.:(

Thanks anyway to you, TxRad, and Liar for responding.

There's nothing much you CAN do about it actually. Except tell the person with the wide sig to fix it. I'll bet it looks as bad for all of us and not only you.

My laptop is set at 1024 x 768 and at present I haven't seen a sig here in the AH that goes off it. Several of the picture threads do but that is all. Everyone seems to have their sigs trimmed nicely as of late.

There has to be another reason.

Now I take you back to Weird Harold and the brain trust.

Some of the threads spread past the screen for me, but only in those that have a large image file posted.

For a short while when I increased font size (ctrl and +) the page went wide, but not now for some reason.

I'm pretty sure that's just the way that vBulletin works -- you'll get a scroll bar at the bottom of the screen if any post or signature exceeds your screen resolution width, but individual posts will wrap to fit their widest component or the browser window size.

There are several people on my ignore list simply because their signatures are too wide or are annoying. That way I can leave signatures on and see the majority of the signatures without having to deal with the long download times for huge images and/or scroll past sgnatures longer than the posts.
