Alright so since i've been going on about my cat, i thought i would post a pic of her. These are digital pics of old (19 yr old) photos...so excuse the quality

A cute kitten in 1985...

and a grown up cat with very long legs just like her owner :D
Sorry to hear about your loss Sylph and thanks for sharing these pictures with us. No need to justify your feelings; a faithful companion that spent its life being there for you is worthy of mourning and tears!

So...how's my weekend going? Well to be honest it was fine until today when it suddenly took a turn for the worse....
Unfortunately today I had to say goodbye to my sweet cat and best friend of 19 1/2 years.
She suffered a stroke sometime early this morning and was slowly slipping away...so needless to say my decision to have her put down was clearly the right thing to do. Being the right thing to do does not make it any easier though, or stop my tears from flowing even as i type this.
I have known for a long time that she would be leaving me soon, but i can't begin to express my grief at the fact that it has finally come to pass

So on this 'Thanksgiving', i would just like to take a moment to give thanks for the sweet little soul that i was blessed to have share my life from the time i was 10 until i turned 30.
She will be missed. She will be remebered. She will be loved and forever be a part of me:heart:
Sylph

My sincerest condolences. Last year at this time I lost my long time pet kitty. He was with my and family for the better part of 20 years and I loved him very much. He was my responsibility from the age of 9 on and I took care of him with all my heart. They day he passed away was very hard on me and I cried alot, but it hit me even harder at Christmas time. He use to sit under the Christmas tree and bat at the decorations and when I thought of that I broke down again. I know what you must be going through and I know that it is hard. So you have my sympathy and my prayers for your loss.

Here is a pic of my kitty...

For you Sylph :rose:

Weep Not for Me

WEEP NOT FOR ME THOUGH I AM GONE,
INTO THAT GENTLE NIGHT.
GRIEVE IF YOU WILL, BUT NOT FOR LONG,
UPON MY SOUL'S SWEET FLIGHT,
I AM AT PEACE, MY SOUL'S AT REST,
THERE IS NO NEED FOR TEARS;
FOR WITH YOUR LOVE I WAS BLESSED,
FOR ALL THOSE MANY YEARS.
THERE IS NO PAIN, I SUFFER NOT;
THE FEAR NOW IS ALL GONE.
PUT NOW THESE THINGS OUT OF YOUR THOUGHTS,
IN YOUR MEMORY I LIVE ON.
REMEMBER NOT MY FIGHT FOR BREATH,
REMEMBER NOT THE STRIFE.
PLEASE DO NOT DWELL UPON MY DEATH-
BUT CELEBRATE MY LIFE.

Thank u's

Shyguy thank u so much for sharing your story. I can't tell u how comforting it is to know that someone else has been through a similar experience.
Its such a huge span of your life isn't it? From the time you are 9 or 10 until u are 30. So many memories are attached to your cat. I have to admit i think i am still in a bit of denile about the whole thing...keep thinking she has just gone off to have a nap somewhere....hearing noises that make me think she is coming down the stairs etc...
As you mentioned its the little things like the tree at christmas that i am sure will continue to upset me in the future. At the same time i am so thankful that i have those memories, and that i had a chance to know her for such a very long time.
I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to share your life with such a wonderful friend as Ginger appeared to be ( very cute...i love older cats , they have so much character :catroar: )

Hey Sylph. Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I have a Boxer who is 8, and my best friend. When he goes, it will be like losing one of my kids. Hell, we all went through two divorces together. LOL Seriously, though, we all know that death is a part of life, but we're never quite ready for it when it touches us so closely. My thoughts are with you, kid. Take care.

Too bad about the kitty. Everyone hates to see a family member go.

I've enjoyed the pictures you've posted. Thanks for sharing.

Eek don't even say it..
my one dog is 9 now and the other is 7....couldn't even fathom not having them around right now. They are definitly mourning the cat too, but helping me remember that there is still life to live, walks to walk, tennis balls to throw, and snuggles to enjoy ;)
As for never quite being ready for death...u are so right. I really thought everyday from the time she was 15 on was just like a bonus day with her. Made sure I gave her tail a tweek and her nose a kiss everyday, and i am so glad i did. And so lucky i got so many more bonus tweeks and kisses and purrs than i ever expected i would. But as you said doesn't make the letting go much easier even when u knew it was coming....
so hug your boxer for me ;)

Be strong!

Sorry about your cat Sylph.
It's always hard when you lose someone close to you.
Hope the dogs make the pain somewhat bearable. Cause they still need you.
Warm hugs for you sweetie.

I fully understand the loss of your pet. My dad lost His aunt and a close friend in three days in July, and took it stoically, but when his dog died that same week he lost it.

I've lost a couple of friends in Iraq (some right in front of me) but absolutely dread when the time comes for my two dogs to go. They are both old dogs, 10 and 11, and one is having bad back pains and my wife keeps bringing up when to put him down.

Love the pictures and am very impressed with the new AV!!

My condolences to you. One's pets are often the most precious things we have. They love us unconditionally, they don't judge, they are there when they are most needed. I have lost many over the years and still shed tears for them all. So gather strength and persevere, we all can relate.

Thx Curious,
The dogs are helping alot...they wouldn't let me sink into a depression even if i wanted to. They are always right in my face or doing something unbearably funny, making sure i don't get too sad ;)

It is so hard to lose a pet i think because they have this wonderful innocence about them sort of like a child. They are more loyal than any human, and their love is more unconditional. When i'm in the presence of animals i always feel like i am blessed somehow to be given the gift of such a pure love. It tends to make me feel almost unworthy, and I want to strive to be able to love more like that myself . Lets face it animals just make us better, remind us of all the goodness there is in life;)
I do hope your dog(s) are around for quite awhile longer OX2. Hopefully your dogs back pain can be treated. Have you tried Rimadyl (spelling)....it worked wonders for my 9 year old dog :D

Doing as well as could be expected Tea....down to just one good cry today. Happened when i went to sit down on my bed and i automatically looked behind me first to see if there was a little lump burrowed under the covers...then i remember that she was gone :(

On a happier note i took some artsy fartsy type photos the other day....thought i might start sharing a few with my threaders today

the first or the artsy fartsy bath shots.....

*thinks to self* that's a fantastic shot, so alluring...so sexy, so artsy fartsy.... if she's saving the best till last like usual, this must not be the best shot that she's taken in this set.....hence i cannot wait for the last picture!!

you like my custom title?

i'm just going to drop you a PM sexy, if you don't mind...
