The IRS sent me a notice today that they're sending me a $300.00 check soon...
Did I miss something?

I suppose I shouldn't complain if the government wants to send me money.. I'm just not certain why I should get it.

Everyone who filed a 2000 tax return is supposed to get the tax rebate checks eventually. The fact that you got one tells me you SSN ends in 00 through 09. Next week it's the people with SSNs ending in 10 through 19, and so forth.

Hey Never, all US Taxpaying Citizens are getting a check of some sort...........maximum is $300 for single people, $500 for Heads of Household, $600 for married couples.

and I like it when the Gov't sends me money. I give them lots and lots through out the year..........:D

Actually its everyone who had taxable income... by the time I was done with my deductions I had no taxable income..meaning no refund!

oopsy on my part. I guess your right Naked Hunny.

Well damn...

I didn't file my federal income taxes because I owed money.

I heard....

...that 26% of all taxpayers will not see a refund check. I haven't seen anything yet in my mailbox. Not holding my breath either...

yea I received my flyer in the mail yesterday SSN ends in 97 but I don't get any back it mentioned something about me not receiving it because I didnt pay or something like that I forgot cuz I got pissed and threw it away.

If you didn't pay anything in taxes in the first place, why would you think you should get something back as a refund?

This is in error. The MAXIMUM amount is each of these. Not the SET amount.

Oh, WH, you're a smart one.

Okay, so, my friend who gives twice as much to the government, but is still single, will get the same amount back as I?

Good little taxpayer that I am, I followed the instructions and didn't throw my notice away.

The refund is .....

The lesser of the following amounts:

5% of your taxable income
your income tax liability

or the following based on filng status
single or married filing seperately .. $300, head of household ....$500, married filing jointly or qualifying widow(er)..$600

They will reduce the amount if you owe past due federal or state income tax, other Federal debts or past due child support.
