That was a very strange story all around.
“For at least 25 years, she has been living a major lie,” said former Dutchess County prosecutor Steven Pagones, who was falsely accused of raping Brawley in 1987 and finally tracked her down, thanks to The Post.
A 15 year old girl makes up a lie, which takes up a life of its own and is quickly out of her control taken over by a gang of political opportunists. She spends the next 25 years with her name as a synonym for treachery and there are a lot of people who take delight in every misfortune which might fall on her.
For most people who fuck up at age 15, the world lets them forget about it, if they manage to stay out of trouble.
This line from the article is interesting:
Thanks to the Post?
When Most 15 year olds fuck up don't leave people's reputations in a shambles either.
When Most 15 year olds fuck up don't leave people's reputations in a shambles either.
Yeah, this is all about truth, justice and the American way.
Pagones reputation was so shambled, he went on to become a New York Assistant State Attorney General. That must be some kind of special of job for shambled people.
It's very important that we all know he didn't really do all those horrible things and to prove it to us, he wants to take $431,492 from a the single mom’s wages at a nursing home, 25 years after the fact.
I for one will certainly hold his reputation in much higher esteem, if he actually manages to get the money.
I think the article said Pagones would settle for a public apology or admission from his accuser in lieu of financial restitution. Sounds generous on the surface. But 25 years after the grand jury proved she was lying, probably because she lived in fear of her stepfather, Pagones seems to be more concerned about vengeance, not justice. The fact that her wages will be garnished until she croaks isn't enough vindication, apparently.
She launched the career of one of the biggest shysters in history:

Infamous hoaxster Tawana Brawley — whose outrageous rape lie 25 years ago inflamed racial tensions nationwide — yesterday was finally slapped with a court order to settle a hefty defamation case against her.
“For at least 25 years, she has been living a major lie,” said former Dutchess County prosecutor Steven Pagones, who was falsely accused of raping Brawley in 1987 and finally tracked her down, thanks to The Post.
“To me, this has always been about responsibility and accountability,’’ added the former ADA, who won the $190,000 defamation lawsuit against Brawley, 40, now a nurse in Virginia, more than a decade ago.
At 9 percent interest, that debt, which Brawley never attempted to pay off, now totals $431,492, according to the wage-garnishment papers filed in Virginia’s Surry County Court.
Brawley — whose unbelievable lies made the Rev. Al Sharpton a household name as he bombastically championed her cause — had changed her name and moved down South in the years since she was exposed.
Her fugitive-like antics long thwarted Pagones’ efforts to serve her with the court papers needed to get the financial damages due him.
But The Post finally found Brawley last month, effectively leading Pagones and his lawyer to her.
She was living under the assumed name of Tawana Vacenia Thompson Gutierrez in Hopewell, Va., and working as a licensed nurse at The Laurels of Bon Air, a nursing home in nearby Richmond.

The article does quote him as saying something to that effect.
Living well is the best revenge, and it looks like Pagones will never have his. He maybe planning to run for office and needed to get his name in the news again.
Truth is her and Sharpton both should have been executed for perpetrating a conspiracy to divide Americans along racial lines. Lord only knows if hundreds of white folks all across the nation weren't assaulted, beaten, raped, and murdered as a result of her and Sharpton being believed.![]()
Because I was pulling your chain. See how well it worked?![]()
And just think Irezumikiss and roryn admire rev al sharpton and thinks that he does no wrong.
Not really. Putting a can of corn smiley at the end of every post doesn't make them funny, you know. It's sort of like that shit eating grin Ricky Gervais used to do in The Office.
