There's some nice artwork here. I have one right now. My 18yo daughter designed it for me when I got divorced - she was 16 at the time. We're getting a Trinity Knot on our shoulders together soon. I think they are addictive, so I've been forcing myself to wait on getting the second one. My 18yo has 4 right now.

I am glad someone agrees with me on the desires to addictiveness of getting a tattoo. How long from the first till you decided on what your second would be?? Maybe you can ask you daughter to have pics done of her tattoos, provided she is comfortable showing them to a bunch of strangers. Is there anyone else here that seems to have a tattoo radar, you notice tattoo on others because you like them so much??

Beach did you say where you tattoo was located on your body?? My next tattoo will be centered over my spine and I imagine that will have a higher degree of pain thank goodness I like pain.

Arg missed your post until I scrolled up some. How much pain was the crotch tattoo?? Like I said in my last post I want one that will cross over the spine just not sure what that will feel like.

The tattoo on my pubic was interesting, in most of the places it was like other tattoos, a few places felt very good, but every now and then she would hit a small spot that hurt like hell.

This one is on my lower back and goes down my butt crack, you can not see the "root" end if I do not hold my ass open like I am here. All of this hurt much more than I expected. She had my permission to go as far down as she wanted, but I almost caller "limit" several times.

I have a large asian style phoenix over my right chest area which I had done when I was 25 years old (and recently recolored). It was the perfect choice for me considering what it represented (rising from the flames, etc). I have chinese kanji down the inside of both my arms which is the beginning of "sleeves" I have planned out. The left arm has my husbands name and slave marked and the right arm has fighting spirit, passion and pain. I plan on having cherry blossoms and a heron wrapping around the right arm's kanji work - the right arm is basically representative of my life. I have been pondering the left one's wrap at this point - since its representative of my life with my spouse. So its a work in progress.

Once I get the arms done, then I can move on to a couple small pieces - placement all dependent on scars/surgeries which tend to muck up one's art.

Your older then I am, just turned 30 in december last year. I would say mid thirties at least if you daughter is 18 this year. Like more then a few ladies here you posted your birthday but did not desire to give us the year.

LJ, I have two answers for you.

Firstly, I don't find that tattooing directly over the spine is *that* bad, although it certainly could hurt less. And I will be the first to tell you that I do NOT like pain. (Most of the time! ) I find that it actually hurts worse going over the shoulderblades, or on the lower back over the kidneys. All in all, the back is actually more painful a place than you'd originally think, but directly over the spine itself isn't so awful. Mine is from neck to lowerback, and extends a reasonable distance to the sides at the top and bottom, although not as far as it -feels- like it does when he's doing it.

Secondly, I am having mine done at a place on the SE corner of 67th ave and Peoria, called Stainz Ink. The guy is actually fairly young, but I saw some of his work when my sister recommended him to me, and he designed my back piece entirely from scratch, working, as I said, to incorporate rather than cover up the two I already had. He's absolutely fantastic.

He tends to work somewhat slower than most people, but his prices are really rather reasonable -- I'll often go in and tell him I want to spend 80 today, and he'll tell me what we'll work on, and if I am agreeable we'll do that much, regardless of how long it takes. (Except for the one time that we ran right up till closing. )

Now that we're in to the coloring, I find I can't really handle 2+ hour sessions anymore... I'm best off doing an hour, maybe hour and a half.

I'd be happy to arrange a meeting with the guy if you're interested.

I don't have any tattoos either graceanne and was also prohibited. I did however want a vine of bleeding hearts encircling my left ankle and ying/yang something to represent my dichotomy.

The kiss on your bottom... I like that too. I was born breech, folded in half. Nearly killed my mother I'm told. I'm also told I was born telling the world to "kiss my ass" and have been doing so ever since. LOL

Oh and the burning off of the marks in Revelations I believe refers to the mark of the devil or the 666.

I don't have any tattoo's. K read in revelations something about having marks burned off with fire when the end times come (or something) and so absolutely refuses to let me get a tattoo. I want daisy's around my ankle, and a kiss mark on my rear - but oh well.

The other day in Wally world I think I saw something like that angel wings on both sides of this girls spine in between her shoulders. I thought it was a nice tattoo when I saw it and would like to see your daughters when you can post it too.

I love tattoos. I have one on my back and one on my thigh.

The back one is after a 1924 photograph by Man Ray, although the model in the photo did not actually have the design inked on her - it was painted on afterward. I can't really get anything else on my back because of the design of the tattoo. It's "integrated" rather than "tacked on," so my back itself is the artwork and adding another picture would ruin the illusion.

The one on my thigh I got just under a month ago. It's a memorial tattoo for my Maine Coon cat, Wu, who had to be put to sleep on January 12th 2006. It was the first time I've lost anyone close to me, and I was agonizing over how to memorialize her. I saw an episode of "Inked" (or was it "Miami Ink" maybe?) about memorial tattoos, and I felt that was perfect. I chose just one simple paw print because as each of my other cats die - I have five more, and the 16-year-old is getting sicker by the day - I will add on another paw and have a trail going down my leg. The color, by the way, is kind of a medium brown - it's the same color as my freckles. It's very subtle and yet still visible, which is perfect.
