Very interesting I especially liked the blackrose one if I would hazard a guess it reminds me of the cover are on a book series Kushiel's Dart and others.

that's where it's from. it looks a little warped in the photo because i'm leaning foward, it's much less streched looking when i'm standing up.

Well I am glad someone else like that as much as I do... I might have forgone the rose part and just get the bottom half done. Not sure how much of a read you are Amnre but we have this bdsm book club thread and last month's book was Kushiel's Dart so if you wanta stop in and discuss it your more then welcomed. This month we are reading Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop.

I don't know if i could discuss that book. it might be a bit nuts.

I've literally got it down to wher i'm finding shakespear references of middle eastern and african tribes as well as ancient names... not to mention the thought i've spent on it. I've read it at least 4 times... it's quite sick really.

I am a bit lost but that is fine, I do have a question about the other pictures they are cuttings and a branding right??

I hear you on that. My library is extremely limited at the moment, I can go through that series in about two days flat, and every time it weirds me out a little.

The tattoo looks good on you though! :)

There is a picture of a star. That's tattooed in with white ink. I have 5 of them on my body. One on each wrist, one on each ankle, one on the back of my neck.

the large peice on my arm is scarification. It was ut in with a scalple and there re a few prts where the skin was removed to make a wider sar.

ammre, you should totally send your arm picture in to Shannon. You'd be on ModBlog for sure - that's really beautiful. (That is, of course, if you want to be on ModBlog.)

I think if I ever get my back touched up (the delay was just apathy/fear, but I discovered it will be more expensive than I thought, so now it's also money) I might send it in. I know it's not very original, but I don't think we've seen it on there before, and I like it.

Yay, Oklahoma! In the process of becoming the 50th state in the union to legalize (and regulate) tattooing!

Oh? Did Massachusetts finally allow it? I remember when I was growing up there, the seniors who'd already turned 18 who wanted one had to drive north to New Hampshire or down to Connecticut, because they weren't allowed to do them in MA.

Course, I've been gone for almost 9 years, so gods only know what's happened out there since then. I do know that in the tiny town I grew up in, they have a body piercing shop, but there's no tattooing there, so I assumed it was still illegal.

some works of art

There really are some works of art on this thread. Not mine though.
I have one on my upper arm that was given to me by a friend in the seventh grade. Back in the first weeks of jr. high several of us had the idea to form a little street gang. We all gave each other the same tattoo in an effort to look a little tougher and as a way of identifying our little gang. It is rather crude and I can certainly afford to have it removed but I won’t. It reminds me that even though I now have a successful career, I was once just a smart ass punk hanging out on the streets of my hometown. None of the others have had theirs removed either. We have all survived into adulthood and all of us share at least this one thing in common.

You bet

Would you get a work of art tattoo now Saw??

Oh sure I would. It would have to have some meaning or significance though. I would also want to be sober when i picked it out. I have seen the results of drunken tattoo "urges" and some of them weren't pretty.

I thought of this thread early today. I was sitting next to a gorgeous young lady on my flight this morning. She worked for Lehman Brothers and was a frequent flyer like me. We chatted for a few minutes and then we both popped open our laptops. After about an hour she closed hers, opened a blanket and turned towards the window in an effort to take a little nap. It was when she turned that I noticed a beautiful green leaf just rising out from the top of her shirt collar. That was when I thought of this thread. I never asked her about it but I did look down her back when I got up to use the restroom. I could tell that the leaf was the top of some sort of tropical setting. It looked like it took up the entire area between her shoulder blades. From what I could see it really looked beautiful.

If your going to wear it for the rest of your life then sure you want it to have some meaning other then just some pretty ink. I know any tattoo place I have been being drunk would automatically make sure you would not get a tattoo. If your looking for something like say a particular car then you see them everywhere. So maybe you will find something that has some meaning for you and go under the needle yourself again one day.

I have a hamsa on my back between my shoulderblades, about hand-sized. Hurt like a motherfucker - the artist has a good hand, but went deep and scarred me - I think he was a happy sado. I am insane enough to be wanting "netzach" in hebrew on the right shoulder and "hod" in hebrew on the left, if I ever get over the trauma.

mmm Tats...

Right now I have 1 of a dragon I found on the internet at the age of 15 and i still wanted so I got it this year in January.

The two others I'm sure I want are
1) a butterfly with my initials and my friends initials in it because I don't plan on leaving her side unless it means a move out of city or death.... One of the few I would ever give up a kidney for... other then my family.

2) My Alice in wonderland one....
That is gonna be major so I am waiting awhile till I figure that one out fully. Alice on all fours poking her head through a hill under a tree and her head and neck stretched out on the other side with the White Rabbit and the Cheshire cat waiting on the other side. All of this in a looking glass handheld mirror type of thing upside down on my back.

The two I don't know for sure if I want or not are
1) a chinese dragon up my side one of the long thin ones that are almost thought to be a power symbol.

2) a slightly sexual and submissive pinup.... If I can ever find the right picture but who knows. Maybe some day.
