I have been thinking for a few years now that I want to finally get a little body art. I have not found the right person who has the attitude, talent, and personality I want for my inker. Finally found her a few weeks ago and have been narrowing down my first choice to start with. I was wondering who has what and where. I am getting one on my right bicep and one on my right shoulder. A tiger on my bicep and a dragon on my shoulder. Any one have any good sites or places to find some good tribal art ? I am part Cherokee and am thinking along those lines for my left bicep. I want to keep them in spots I can hide while wearing a short sleeve workshirt.

i have a dragon on my right shoulder. It was my design and the artist tweeked it after i brought him the drawing and i love it.

I have this on my lower back. Drew it myself then hunted for someone who could do it.

for mine.............note AV

OH!!!! It is a beautiful tattoo. Just beautiful.

I have two tattoos, (sorry no pics available) one on my left breast--it covers the entire breast. It's a design I did up and the artist re-did it. And I have another small one on my left shoulder. I'm thinking of adding to the one on my shoulder though.

I try to wait at least a whole year before I do anything. If I still want it after a year or so, then I go ahead and pick an artist, etc. The one on my chest I took like 5 years to finally get, but the one on my shoulder I got a year to the date. I wanted it so bad.

I love ink, that's why I really have to choose carefully.

I have to admit now that I've seen yours, I am wanting one there. I can't believe how beautiful it is.

Thank you for sharing..

I have found tattoos on certain people to be so incredibly beautiful that I have often fantasised about having my very own. But after visualing myself in a nursing home and being bathed/bandaged/etc by a 16 yr old (snickering at the marijuana leaf on my breast that I got whilst 16 coz I thought that was way cool at the time) bothers me somewhat.

Hence I am a tattoo virgin.

I used to feel the same way....then thought about it for about three years. I haven't gotten inked yet, but I've begun the process of finding an artist. If you think about something for more than a year, or in the case of my first one, two or three, you'll be less likely to regret it when you're old.

Also, my first ink will be a memorial, so it makes sense.

Im glad you said that... Its one of the main problems I have about tattoos. As lovely as I find them, one day further down the track will my new man appreciate them? I could be wrong, but I sense that tattoos are normally inspired by certain people, or to be fair, events.

I feel the same way, but for a different reason. I admit that my life has not always been on the right side of the tracks and I have not always found myself on the right side of the law. And people will forget your face, your name, the clothes you wear. But tattoos they always remember. That was my only reason for not getting any till now. I don't care if they remember me or not. :) I have thought about it for years. I am not doing it for someone else so in 40 years or so I still won't care if anyone else does not like it. I did it for me, not them. I am going today to look at a modification to a couple of dragons my inker has made. She is a very good artist and I am lucky she can work me in. Maybe today I will get started on it.

I absolutely detest ink on my body. Sort of the Lady MacBeth syndrome. I wash and wash till the ink comes off. I even tried getting a temporary tatoo, it lasted all of 24 hours before I was scrubbing it off me. So no tatoos for me.

However I do love body art and AngelicAssassin that is beautiful.

I got a tattoo for spiritual reasons, and the two or three others I have plans on getting are for that as well.

I would never get one based on a person. A tattoo should be inspired by personal reaons, and deeply personal reasons as well.

Ah, Ink Fever

I'll be getting my 10th tattoo in January :D

It's going to be a black and red Kanji character, and it's going to be on my entire nape of my neck.

Can't wait... :)

I'm working on a quick one for my inner right wrist at the moment. I was thinking of possibly the kanji character for sacrifice...don't know yet.

I have four. Right breast, both shoulder blades, and the last, and my favorite, a black tribal band on my left upper arm. I gave it to myself for my 40th birthday.

The design is very airy, and has almost a middle eastern feel to it. The lines are narrow, and swoop and dip in points and curves. I am very happy with it.

That's a cool one, What would be your other choice?

The other possibility was "strength" or the phrase "seek perfection of character". The phrase though is long and would not fit in the wrist area. I prefer to go with a single character on the inside wrist. Small and elegant is what I'm going for, and most likely a sngle color of all black.

I've got two. I'm looking at getting a back-piece before too long, but am waiting for the right design to take my fancy. This thread has some great ones. Thanks for sharing. :)

I love Kelis back tat of flowers http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/images/tattoo/kelistattoos.jpg
and I really want a panther, plus I have a tat to cover on my back of a cross, so I'll combine it all and have my pather on a bed of flowers that trails down my back, I'd have callas and orchids as my large flowers, and Pride of Barbados as my small ones, I have a pretty good mock up of it so far, I just need to get the cash :) and then wait til I go visit NY.
