Tattoos, floggings, bra straps, & damage?

I have a few tattoos and have been giving thought to another for a few years. Something that concerns me though, is the risk to damaging the tattoo by flogging/caning/etc. The ones I have now are not good targets and have always avoided being beaten, but if I have one that spans my back, scapulae, and ribs--do I need to worry? I already keep my largest tats out of the sun and often have sunblock on the ones always exposed so I understand the care needed for such an investment. I am just concerned about damage from having me hide tanned. <BEG>

Any hardcore players out here who get beaten on theirs? Any fading or discoloration or other damage that is visible? How much workout time has that had?

Also, does that bra strap across the back damage any biggie tats?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Well, a lot would depend on the severity with which you are being beaten. If your not breaking the skin, or not hard enough to scar, it shouldn't damage them. If your consistently breaking the skin, or causing new scaring, then yes, it will fade the tat. Essentially the skin over a tattoo is encapsulated scaring, so if you keep making that heal, it will becom tougher, and have more skin there, which will fade the color appearance of the ink.

As to the bra strap, probably not.

My tattoo covers my back, and I've never had a problem. I get flogged on it often.

The key is to give yourself a solid amount of time after any work done to the tattoo to heal before a lot of activity. Tattoos are pretty tough...I have had large scratches across some of mine that have not affected it, although I'm sure deep cuts would. If you are getting flogged and having your skin constantly broken, I think you need to talk to your top about his or her skill level anyhow (unless that is the POINT...)

I wear bras all the time and have since I got my tattoo with no ill effect. It's not like they can be "rubbed off" or anything.

I have no advice, I just wanted to say that was one heck of a strange thread title. Had to read the thread to figure out what it was about! :D

Very beautiful tattoo in the photo above.

I have fineline blackwork tats on both scapulae, and can agree with Serijules. Both of them are about 15 years old now, and still in beautiful condition. I've never been much for going out in the sun, and the bra strap thing? Perhaps when they were fresh, but after than, not a worry. We do play on my upper back, and I've noticed no change in either of my tats over the last several years.

Thanks for the timeline. I have a few now and the ones on my face have DEFINITE fading. I was told that in white women, that type would probably last 5 years. ('Posed to depend on racial makeup.) Those are 2 years old and get a lot of sun simply 'cause of where they are. The one on my back is definatly not as sharp and I plan to cover that one asap. (If you see a woman with a Texas tat on her back, think of me!!!!) I have o ne on my leg that looks simply busy. It is beautiful up close, but from a distance, it just looks like a mess. Will probably cover that up too. Now that I have matured, I'd really prefer to have tats that represent me, not just something "cool".

Oh, and about the title, it is for referencing. All titles should have something to do with the topic unless you are just the teeny-bopper type trying to get attention with something vague so that people will click to figure out what on Earth it is about. It is not uncommon for me to look something up here and good titles help me in my own searches. (This includes me searching other people's threads.)

Now, as to the brastrap and a fresh tat, do you have to go without while the work was new? How long do you really need to wait? I work in healthcare and spend more time than in the average job lifting people (translate-smashing their faces in my tits while tring to get them up enough to do what I need to do). I really can't go without a bra at work. While I never mind making a patient smile with that, I really hate the grabby ones and appreciate the barrier. How long do you need to go without? (I have monster tits, so the bra is actually maxed out--not just to show I am wearing one.)

I have a tat on my back, that sits directly under my bra strap, its been there abour 12 years now, and I have never noticed any fading (no more than time does anyway). As for the flogging, im not sure because all three of mine are in areas where I don't necessarily get flogged for long periods of time. :)

Love the pic BTW :)

After I got my shoulder tat I continued to wear my bra, althought I am not large breasted :) I just padded it was some gauze and when I got home and could go braless I did until it wasn't so tender anymore.

I was going to add a pic of my tat but couldnt figure out how and since its 3am I gave up....lol

I do have some others that have significant fading as well. They are the the colored ones that were, frankly, spur of the moment. The blackwork ones that I paid big money for *wry smile*, however, are extremely sharp and look great to this day.

I managed to get away with wearing a T-back (racer style) bra to work. I also work in healthcare, and can't go without a bra. Since my Tats are confined to each scapula rather than an entire back piece this worked well for me.

Good luck with you new tat.
