Do you do it?

How did you learn about it if so?

What do you know about it if not?

Would you like to try it if you haven't?

Books books and more books.

Started with tantric massage for the warrior when pregnancy complications prevented everything else.

Then I wanted to know more and more.

Like most things turn out to he, real tantra it is something that actually takes apprenticeship and a serious changes in life, very akin to yoga.

I am no adept of it, but the little I learnt keeps having repercussions on everything I do.

I read a lovely story once in an erotic fiction anthology that centered around tantric sex. It talked about "breathing the one breath." Sounded lovely and like a particularly connected way of having sex.

What book would you recommend to a rank beginner then?

There's this guy, Christopher Hyatt, PhD, who's written a bunch of books on tantra for westerners, including Secrets of Western Tantra, Urban Voodoo, To Lie is Human, and some others. I've got a book called Sex Magic, Tantra, & Tarot that introduces the concept of the secret lover--an internal lover who we search for in our external affairs--that's kind of interesting. It's a good beginner guide to some concepts and exercises and is pretty cheap on Amazon.

I never get too far in tantra because it's really not about sex. It's about harnessing sexual energy in the pursuit of higher meditation states, and so it's more about denial than it is about fulfillment, at least in the short run, and that's all I ever have patience for.

There is a blurt here somewhere.

Thanks. Will have a look for those on Amazon.

I'm curious because I think Fiance and I may have achieved a Tantric state once or twice by accident and I *really* want to do it again and more often. It was amazing and inexplicable.

Yes, but only when alone. I've never met anyone else with the patience or the desire to invest that much energy in my emotional health.

<hugs>

That made me feel really sad. I hope you find someone who does.

I appreciate your hope, but *shrug* I'm not sure I'm able to trust anyone as much as I trust myself. I spent a lot of time hoping (and hurting) for it, then decided I was healthier without that hope.

They always say that these things come along when you're not expecting them - and that's been borne out in my experience too. Probably giving up hope and focusing on good stuff is the best way to go - both for present mental health and for sod's law ;)

I think that a partner like that must be the true lost treasure. Perfect love and perfect trust. Yes, that would be my hope too...

*sighs*

What makes me sad reading about Tantra is knowing that it is achievable. That other's seek as well, and that somewhere out there, he could exist...
